The Hermite-Hadamard inequality revisited: Some new proofs and applications

New proofs of the classical Hermite-Hadamard inequality are presented and several applications are given, including Hadamard-type inequalities for the functions, whose derivatives have inflection points or whose derivatives are convex. Morever, some estimates from below and above for the first moments of functions $% f:[a,b]\rightarrow %TCIMACRO{\U{211d} }% %BeginExpansion \mathbb{R} %EndExpansion $ about the center point $c=(a+b)/2$ are obtained and the reverse Hardy inequality for convex functions $f:[0,\infty )\rightarrow (0,\infty )$ is established.

Tornheim-like series, harmonic numbers and zeta values

Explicit evaluations of the Tornheim-like double series in the form \[ \sum_{n,m=1}^\infty \frac{H_{n+m+s}}{nm\left( n+m+s \right)},\ s\in \mathbb{N\cup } \left\{ 0 \right\} \] and their extensions are given. Furthermore, series of the type \[ \sum_{m=1}^\infty \frac{2H_{2m+1}-H_{m}}{2m\left( 2m+1 \right)} \] and some other Tornheim-like multiple series are evaluated in terms of the zeta values.

Composite Wavelet Transforms: Applications and Perspectives

We introduce a new concept of the so-called {\it composite wavelet transforms}. These transforms are generated by two components, namely, a kernel function and a wavelet function (or a measure). The composite wavelet transforms and the relevant Calderón-type reproducing formulas constitute a unified approach to explicit inversion of the Riesz, Bessel, Flett, parabolic and some other operators of the potential type generated by ordinary (Euclidean) and generalized (Bessel) translations. This approach is exhibited in the paper. Another concern is application of the composite wavelet transforms to explicit inversion of the k-plane Radon transform on $\bbr^n$. We also discuss in detail a series of open problems arising in wavelet analysis of $L_p$-functions of matrix argument.
