A pathological case of the $C_1$ conjecture in mixed characteristic

Let $K$ be a field of characteristic 0. Fix integers $r,d$ coprime with $r \geq 2$. Let $X_K$ be a smooth, projective, geometrically connected curve of genus $g \geq 2$ defined over K. Assume there exists a line bundle $L_K$ on $X_K$ of degree $d$. In this article we prove the existence of a stable locally free sheaf on $X_K$ with rank $r$ and determinant $L_K$. This trivially proves the $C_1$ conjecture in mixed characteristic for the moduli space of stable locally free sheaves of fixed rank and determinant over a smooth, projective curve.

On automorphisms of moduli spaces of parabolic vector bundles

Fix $n\geq 5$ general points $p_1, \dots, p_n\in\mathbb{P}^1$, and a weight vector $\mathcal{A} = (a_{1}, \dots, a_{n})$ of real numbers $0 \leq a_{i} \leq 1$. Consider the moduli space $\mathcal{M}_{\mathcal{A}}$ parametrizing rank two parabolic vector bundles with trivial determinant on $\big(\mathbb{P}^1, p_1,\dots , p_n\big)$ which are semistable with respect to $\mathcal{A}$. Under some conditions on the weights, we determine and give a modular interpretation for the automorphism group of the moduli space $\mathcal{M}_{\mathcal{A}}$. It is isomorphic to $\left(\frac{\mathbb{Z}}{2\mathbb{Z}}\right)^{k}$ for some $k\in \{0,\dots, n-1\}$, and is generated by admissible elementary transformations of parabolic vector bundles. The largest of these automorphism groups, with $k=n-1$, occurs for the central weight $\mathcal{A}_{F}= \left(\frac{1}{2},\dots,\frac{1}{2}\right)$. The corresponding moduli space ${\mathcal M}_{\mathcal{A}_F}$ is a Fano variety of dimension $n-3$, which is smooth if $n$ is odd, and has isolated singularities if $n$ is even.

Smoothness of moduli space of stable torsion-free sheaves with fixed determinant in mixed characteristic

Let $R$ be a complete discrete valuation ring with fraction field of characteristic $0$ and algebraically closed residue field of characteristic $p>0$. Let $X_R \to \mathrm{Spec}(R)$ be a smooth projective morphism of relative dimension $1$. We prove that, given a line bundle $\mathcal{L}_R$ the moduli space of Gieseker stable torsion-free sheaves of rank $r\geq 2$ over $X_R$, with determinant $\mathcal{L}_R$, is smooth over $R$.

Semi-regular varieties and variational Hodge conjecture

We know that semi-regular sub-varieties satisfy the variational Hodge conjecture i.e., given a family of smooth projective varieties $π:\mathcal{X} \to B$, a special fiber $\mathcal{X}_o$ and a semi-regular subvariety $Z \subset \mathcal{X}_o$, the cohomology class corresponding to $Z$ remains a Hodge class (as $\mathcal{X}_o$ deforms along $B$) if and only if $Z$ remains an algebraic cycle. In this article, we investigate examples of such sub-varieties. In particular, we prove that any smooth projective variety $Z$ of dimension $n$ is a semi-regular sub-variety of a smooth projective hypersurface in $\mathbb{P}^{2n+1}$ of large enough degree.

A note on the structure theory of groups acting on the Bruhat Tits tree associated to $\mathrm{PGL}_{2}(F)$

In this note we prove the classical decomposition theorems for certain subgroups of the automorphism group of the Bruhat-Tits tree associated to $\mathrm{PGL}_{2}(F)$, where $F$ is a local field. The results can be used to understand the representation theory of these subgroups. Moreover, we can also use the results to obtain similar decompositions for \textit{any} closed transitive subgroup of the automorphism group of \textit{any} Bruhat-Tits tree.
