Monogamy Relations for Multiqubit Systems

Recently a new class of monogamy relations (actually, exponentially many) was provided by Christopher Eltschka et al. in terms of squared concurrence. Their approach restricted to the distribution of bipartite entanglement shared between different subsystems of a global state. We have critically analyzed those monogamy relations in three as well as in four qubit pure states using squared negativity. We have been able to prove that in case of pure three qubit states those relations are always true in terms of squared negativity. However, if we consider the pure four qubit states, the results are not always true. Rather, we find opposite behaviour in some particular classes of four qubit pure states where some of the monogamy relations are violated. We have provided analytical and numerical evidences in support of our claim.

Nonlocality of tripartite orthogonal product states

Local distinguishability of orthogonal product states is an area of active research in quantum information theory. However, most of the relevant results about local distinguishability found in bipartite quantum systems and very few are known in multipartite systems. In this work, we construct a locally indistinguishable subset in ${\mathbb{C}}^{2d}\bigotimes{\mathbb{C}}^{2d}\bigotimes{\mathbb{C}}^{2d}$, $d\geq2$ that contains $18(d-1)$ orthogonal product states. Further, we generalize our method to arbitrary tripartite quantum systems ${\mathbb{C}}^{k}\bigotimes{\mathbb{C}}^{l}\bigotimes{\mathbb{C}}^{m}$. This result enables us to understand further the role of nonlocality without entanglement in multipartite quantum systems. Finally, we prove that a three-qubit GHZ state is sufficient as a resource to distinguish each of the above classes of states.

Maximal qubit violation of n-local inequalities in quantum network

Source independent quantum networks are considered as a natural generalization to the Bell scenario where we investigate the nonlocal properties of quantum states distributed and measured in a network. Considering the simplest network of entanglement swapping, recently Gisin et. al. and Andreoli et. al. independently provided a systematic characterization of the set of quantum states leading to violation of the so-called 'bilocality' inequality. In this work, we consider the complexities in the quantum networks with an arbitrary number of parties distributed in chain-shaped and star-shaped networks. We derive the maximal violation of the 'n-local' inequality that can be achieved by arbitrary two-qubit states for such chain and star-shaped networks. This would further provide us deeper understanding of quantum correlations in complex structures.

Necessary and Sufficient Condition for the Equivalence of Two Pure Multipartite States under Stochastic Local Incoherent Operations and Classical Communications

Resource theory of quantum coherence originated like entanglement in quantum information theory. However, still now proper classification of quantum states is missing under coherence. In this work, we have provided a classification of states under local incoherent operations. We have succeeded in deriving the necessary and sufficient condition for which two pure multipartite states are equivalent under stochastic local incoherent operations and classical communications (SLICC) and local incoherent operations and classical communications (LICC). In particular, we have succeeded in characterizing three qubit pure states under SLICC. Our result reveals the existence of infinite number of SLICC inequivalent classes for three qubit systems.

Superunsteerability as a quantifiable resource for random access codes assisted by Bell-diagonal states

We show how nonclassical correlations in local bipartite states can act as a resource for quantum information processing. Considering the task of quantum random access codes (RAC) through separable Bell-diagonal states, we demonstrate the advantage of superunsteerability over classical protocols assisted with two-bits of shared randomness. We propose a measure of superunsteerability, which quantifies nonclassicality beyond quantum steering, and obtain its analytical expression for Bell-diagonal states in the context of the two- and three-setting steering scenarios that are directly related to the quantum $2 \to 1$ and $3 \to 1$ RAC protocols, respectively. The maximal values of our quantifier yield the optimal quantum efficiency for both of the above protocols, thus showing that superunsteerability provides a precise characterization of the nonclassical resource for implementing RACs with separable Bell-diagonal class of states.

Coherence Fraction

The concept of entanglement fraction is generalized to define coherence fraction of a quantum state. Precisely, it quantifies the proximity of a quantum state to maximally coherent state and it can be used as a measure of coherence. Coherence fraction has a connection with $l_1$-norm coherence and provides the criteria of coherence distillability. Optimal coherence fraction corresponding to a channel, defined from this new idea of coherence fraction, obeys a complementary relation with its decohering power. The connection between coherence fraction and $l_1$-norm coherence turns to hold for bipartite pure states and $X$ states too. The bipartite generalization shows that the local coherence fractions of a quantum state are not free and they are bounded by linear function of its global coherence fraction. Dynamics of optimal coherence fraction is also studied for single sided and both sided application of channels. Numerical results are provided in exploring properties of optimal coherence fraction.

Entanglement of Formation is Non-monotonic with Concurrence-A Simple Proof

In this paper we explore the non-monotonic nature of entanglement of formation with respect to concurrence for pure bipartite states. For pure bipartite system, one of the basic physical reason of this non-monotonicity character is due to the existence of incomparable states, i.e., the pure bipartite states which are not convertible to each other by LOCC with certainty.

Entanglement - A Queer In The World Of Quantum : Some Perspectives

The work is intended to represent some interesting and apparently peculiar features of entangled system in both pure as well as mixed states level. In the pure state level, we are largely concerned about the existence and characteristics of bipartite incomparable pair of states. We have found some schemes for local transformation of one pure bipartite state to another, incomparable in nature, by exploiting free unpreserved entanglement. Also, we observed that different incomparable pair of states in $3\times 3$ may co-operate with each other to cross the barrier of incomparability. Our next goal was to probe critically the roots of the existence of incomparable states. We have succeeded in connecting incomparability with some famous no-go theorems of quantum mechanics. We have established it with no-flipping principle, general anti-unitary operators and lastly with inner product preserving operations. Thus we are able to pose incomparability as a good detector of some non-physical operations. In the next part, we provide a new class of multipartite bound entanglement in mixed state level. The class of states are activable bound entangled. There are exactly four orthogonal activable bound entangled states in any even number of qubit system. They have some interesting features like Bell correlation, permutation symmetry, local Pauli connection, non-compatibility, etc. Apart from those properties, the class of bound entangled states have the remarkable feature of local indistinguishability in quantum systems.

Character of Locally Inequivalent Classes of States and Entropy of Entanglement

In this letter we have established the physical character of pure bipartite states with the same amount of entanglement in the same Schmidt rank that either they are local unitarily connected or they are incomparable. There exist infinite number of deterministically locally inequivalent classes of pure bipartite states in the same Schmidt rank (starting from three) having same amount of entanglement. Further, if there exists incomparable states with same entanglement in higher Schmidt ranks (greater than three), then they should differ in at least three Schmidt coefficients.

General Classes of Impossible Operations through the Existence of Incomparable States

In this work we show that the most general class of anti-unitary operators are nonphysical in nature through the existence of incomparable pure bipartite entangled states. It is also shown that a large class of inner-product-preserving operations defined only on the three qubits having spin-directions along x, y and z are impossible. If we perform such an operation locally on a particular pure bipartite state then it will exactly transform to another pure bipartite state that is incomparable with the original one. As subcases of the above results we find the nonphysical nature of universal exact flipping operation and existence of universal Hadamard gate. Beyond the information conservation in terms of entanglement, this work shows how an impossible local operation evolve with the joint system in a nonphysical way.

NPT Bound Entanglement- The Problem Revisited

Recently [quant-ph/0608250] again created a lot of interest to prove the existence of bound entangled states with negative partial transpose (NPT) in any $d \times d (d \geq 3)$ Hilbert space. However the proof in quant-ph/0608250 is not complete but it shows some interesting properties of the Schmidt rank two states. In this work we are trying to probe the problem in a different angle considering the work by Dür et.al [Phys. Rev. A, 61, 062313(2000)]. We have assumed that the Schmidt rank two states should satisfy some bounds. Under some assumptions with these bounds one could prove the existence of NPT bound entangled states. We particularly discuss the case of two copy undistillability of the conjectured family of NPT states. Obviously the class of NPT bound entangled states belong to the class of conjectured to be bound entangled states by Divincenzo et.al [Phys. Rev. A, 61, 062312(2000)] and by Dür et.al [Phys. Rev. A, 61, 062313(2000)]. However the problem of existence of NPT bound entangled states still remain open.

No-Cloning and No-Deleting theorems through the existence of Incomparable states under LOCC

No-Cloning and No-Deleting theorems are verified with the constraint on local state transformations via the existence of incomparable states. Assuming the existence of exact cloning or deleting operation defined on a minimum number of two arbitrary states, an incomparable pair of states of the joint system between two parties can be made to compare under deterministic LOCC. We have restricted our proof with the assumption that the machine states of the cloning or deleting operations do not keep any information about the input states. We use the same setting to establish the no-cloning and no-deleting theorems via incomparability that supports the reciprocity of the two operations in their operational senses. The work associates the impossibility of operations with the evolution of an entangled system by LOCC.

No-Flipping as a consequence of No-Signalling and Non-increase of Entanglement under LOCC

Non existence of Universal NOT gate for arbitrary quantum mechanical states is a fundamental constraint on the allowed operations performed on physical systems. The largest set of states that can be flipped by using a single NOT gate is the set of states lying on a great circle of the Bloch-sphere. In this paper, we show the impossibility of universal exact-flipping operation, first by using the fact that no faster than light communication is possible and then by using the principle of "non-increase of entanglement under LOCC". Interestingly, exact flipping of the states of any great circle does not violate these two principles, as expected.

Impossibility of Exact Flipping of Three Arbitrary Quantum States Via Incomparability

We present here a scheme that relates seemingly two different kinds of physical impossibilities of quantum information processing. We derive, exact flipping of three arbitrary states not lying in one great circle is not possible with certainty, by using the existence of incomparable states which are not interconvertible deterministically by local operations and classical communications. In contrast, considering the non-existence of exact universal flipper, the incomparability of a pair of bipartite pure entangled states can be established.

Deterministic Local Conversion of Incomparable States by Collective LOCC

Incomparability of pure bipartite entangled states under deterministic LOCC is a very strange phenomena. We find two possible ways of getting our desired pure entangled state which is incomparable with the given input state, by collective LOCC with certainty. The first one is by providing some pure entanglement through the lower dimensional maximally-entangled states or using further less amount of entanglement and the next one is by collective operation on two pairs which are individually incomparable. It is quite surprising that we are able to achieve maximally entangled states of any Schmidt rank from a finite number of $2\times 2$ pure entangled states only by deterministic LOCC. We provide general theory for the case of $3\times3$ system of incomparable states by the above processes where incomparability seems to be the most hardest one.

Bell-Correlated Activable Bound Entanglement in Multiqubit Systems

We show that the Hilbert space of even number ($\geq4$) of qubits can always be decomposed as a direct sum of four orthogonal subspaces such that the normalized projectors onto the subspaces are activable bound entangled (ABE) states. These states also show a surprising recursive relation in the sense that the states belonging to $2N+2$ qubits are Bell correlated to the states of $2N$ qubits; hence, we refer to these states as Bell-Correlated ABE (BCABE) states. We also study the properties of noisy BCABE states and show that they are very similar to that of two qubit Bell-diagonal states.
