Analysis of metastable behavior via solutions of Poisson equations

We herein review the recent progress on the study of metastability based on the analysis of solutions of Poisson equations related to the generators of the underlying metastable dynamics. This review paper is based on the joint work with Claudio Landim [24] and Fraydoun Rezakhanlou [26].

Condensation of Non-Reversible Zero-Range Processes

In this article, we investigate the condensation phenomena for a class of nonreversible zero-range processes on a fixed finite set. By establishing a novel inequality bounding the capacity between two sets, and by developing a robust framework to perform quantitative analysis on the metastability of non-reversible processes, we prove that the condensed site of the corresponding zero-range processes approximately behaves as a Markov chain on the underlying graph whose jump rate is proportional to the capacity with respect to the underlying random walk. The results presented in the current paper complete the generalization of the work of Beltran and Landim [4] on reversible zero-range processes, and that of Landim [22] on totally asymmetric zero-range processes on a one-dimensional discrete torus.

Asymptotics for scaled Kramers-Smoluchowski equations in several dimensions with general potentials

In this paper, we generalize the results of Evans and Tabrizian, by deriving asymptotics for the time-rescaled Kramers-Smoluchowski equations, in the case of a general non-symmetric potential function with multiple wells. The asymptotic limit is described by a system of reaction-diffusion equations whose coefficients are determined by the Kramers constants at the saddle points of the potential function and the Hessians of the potential function at global minima.

Scaling Limit of Two-component Interacting Brownian Motions

This paper presents our study of the asymptotic behavior of a two-component system of Brownian motions undergoing certain singular interactions. In particular, the system is a combination of two different types of particles and the mechanical properties and interaction parameters depend on the corresponding type of particles. We prove that the hydrodynamic limit of the empirical densities of two types is the solution of a certain quasi-linear parabolic partial differential equation known as the Maxwell-Stefan equation.

Metastability of non-reversible mean-field Potts model with three spins

We examine a non-reversible, mean-field Potts model with three spins on a set with $N\uparrow\infty$ points. Without an external field, there are three critical temperatures and five different metastable regimes. The analysis can be extended by a perturbative argument to the case of small external fields. We illustrate the case of large external fields with some phenomena which are not present in the absence of external field.

Large Deviation Principle for Interacting Brownian Motions

We prove the Large Deviation Principle for the empirical process in a system of locally interacting Brownian motions in the nonequilibrium dynamic. Such a phenomenon has been proven only for two lattice systems: the symmetric simple exclusion process and zero-range process. Therefore, we have achieved the third result in this context and moreover the first result for the diffusion-type interacting particle system.
