Energy Loss in Holographic Anisotropic Model for Heavy Quarks in External Magnetic Field

Energy loss in anisotropic hot dense QGP in external magnetic field is studied within holographic approach. Energy loss is calculated by estimation of behaviour of the spatial Wilson loops using the effective potential technique. We examine the dependence of the effective potential on the spatial Wilson loops orientation in fully anisotropic background. For this purpose we obtain general formulas for the effective potential and study appearance of the effective potential dynamical wall. We consider particular fully anisotropic model [arXiv:2011.07023] supported by Einstein-Dilaton-three-Maxwell action. The effective potential strongly depends on the parameters of anisotropy and magnetic field, therefore the energy loss depends on physical parameters $-$ $T$, $μ$, $c_B$ and orientation. Orientation is determined by angles between the moving heavy quark velocity, the axis of heavy ions collision and their impact parameter vector.

Holographic Anisotropic Model for Heavy Quarks in Anisotropic Hot Dense QGP with External Magnetic Field

We present a five-dimensional fully anisotropic holographic model for heavy quarks supported by Einstein-dilaton-three-Maxwell action; one of the Maxwell fields is related to an external magnetic field. Influence of the external magnetic field on the 5-dim black hole solution and the confinement/deconfinement phase diagram is considered. The effect of the inverse magnetic catalyses is revealed and positions of critical end points are found.

Holographic Entanglement Entropy in Anisotropic Background with Confinement-Deconfinement Phase Transition

We discuss a general five-dimensional completely anisotropic holographic model with three different spatial scale factors, characterized by a Van der Waals-like phase transition between small and large black holes. A peculiar feature of the model is the relation between anisotropy of the background and anisotropy of the colliding heavy ions geometry. We calculate the holographic entanglement entropy (HEE) of the slab-shaped region, the orientation of which relatively to the beams line and the impact parameter is characterized by the Euler angles. We study the dependences of the HEE and its density on the thermodynamic (temperature, chemical potential) and geometric (parameters of anisotropy, thickness, and orientation of entangled regions) parameters. As a particular case the model with two equal transversal scaling factors is considered. This model is supported by the dilaton and two Maxwell fields. In this case we discuss the HEE and its density in detail: interesting features of this model are jumps of the entanglement entropy and its density near the line of the small/large black hole phase transition. These jumps depend on the anisotropy parameter, chemical potential, and orientation. We also discuss different definitions and behavior of c-functions in this model. The c-function calculated in the Einstein frame decreases while increasing $\ell$ for all $\ell$ in the isotropic case (in regions of $(μ,T)$-plane far away from the line of the phase transition). We find the non-monotonicity of the c-functions for several anisotropic configurations, which however does not contradict with any of the existing c-theorems since they all base on Lorentz invariance.

Exact holographic RG flows and the $A_{1}\times A_{1}$ Toda chain

We construct analytic solutions of Einstein gravity coupled to a dilaton field with a potential given by a sum of two exponentials, by rewriting the equations of motion in terms of an integrable Toda chain. These solutions can be interpreted as domain walls interpolating between different asymptotics, and as such they can have interesting applications in holography. In some cases, we can construct a solution which interpolates between an AdS fixed point in the UV limit and a hyperscaling violating boundary in the IR region. We also find analytic black brane solutions at finite temperature. We discuss the properties of the solutions and the interpretation in terms of RG flow.

When things stop falling, chaos is suppressed

This note is devoted to the investigation of Susskind's proposal(arXiv:1802.01198) concerning the correspondence between the operator growth in chaotic theories and the radial momenta of the particle falling in the AdS black hole. We study this proposal and consider the simple example of an operator with the global charge described by the charged particle falling to the Reissner-Nordstrom-AdS black hole. Different charges of the particle lead to qualitatively different behavior of the particle momenta and consequently change of the operator size behavior. This holographic result is supported by different examples of chaotic models at a finite chemical potential where the suppression of chaos has been observed.

Holographic local quench and effective complexity

We study the evolution of holographic complexity of pure and mixed states in $1+1$-dimensional conformal field theory following a local quench using both the "complexity equals volume" (CV) and the "complexity equals action" (CA) conjectures. We compare the complexity evolution to the evolution of entanglement entropy and entanglement density, discuss the Lloyd computational bound and demonstrate its saturation in certain regimes. We argue that the conjectured holographic complexities exhibit some non-trivial features indicating that they capture important properties of what is expected to be effective (or physical) complexity.

Thermalization of holographic Wilson loops in spacetimes with spatial anisotropy

In this paper, we study behaviour of Wilson loops in the boost-invariant nonequilibrium anisotropic quark-gluon plasma produced in heavy-ion collisions within the holographic approach. We describe the thermalization studying the evolution of the Vaidya metric in the boost-invariant and spatially anisotropic background. To probe the system during this process we calculate rectangular Wilson loops oriented in different spatial directions. We find that anisotropic effects are more visible for the Wilson loops lying in the transversal plane unlike the Wilson loops with partially longitudinal orientation. In particular, we observe that the Wilson loops can thermalizes first unlike to the order of the isotropic model. We see that Wilson loops on transversal contours have the shortest thermalization time. We also calculate the string tension and the pseudopotential at different temperatures for the static quark-gluon plasma. We show that the pseudopotential related to the configuration on the transversal plane has the screened Cornell form. We also show that the jet-quenching parameter related with the average of the light-like Wilson loop exhibits the dependence on orientations.

Thermalization after holographic bilocal quench

We study thermalization in the holographic (1+1)-dimensional CFT after simultaneous generation of two high-energy excitations in the antipodal points on the circle. The holographic picture of such quantum quench is the creation of BTZ black hole from a collision of two massless particles. We perform holographic computation of entanglement entropy and mutual information in the boundary theory and analyze their evolution with time. We show that equilibration of the entanglement in the regions which contained one of the initial excitations is generally similar to that in other holographic quench models, but with some important distinctions. We observe that entanglement propagates along a sharp effective light cone from the points of initial excitations on the boundary. The characteristics of entanglement propagation in the global quench models such as entanglement velocity and the light cone velocity also have a meaning in the bilocal quench scenario. We also observe the loss of memory about the initial state during the equilibration process. We find that the memory loss reflects on the time behavior of the entanglement similarly to the global quench case, and it is related to the universal linear growth of entanglement, which comes from the interior of the forming black hole. We also analyze general two-point correlation functions in the framework of the geodesic approximation, focusing on the study of the late time behavior.

Analytic black branes in Lifshitz-like backgrounds and thermalization

Using black brane solutions in 5d Lifshitz-like backgrounds with arbitrary dynamical exponent $ν$, we construct the Vaidya geometry, asymptoting to the Lifshitz-like spacetime, which represents a thin shell infalling at the speed of light. We apply the new Lifshitz-Vaidya background to study the thermalization process of the quark-gluon plasma via the thin shell approach previously successfully used in several backgrounds. We find that the thermalization depends on the chosen direction because of the spatial anisotropy. The plasma thermalizes thus faster in the transversal direction than in the longitudinal one. To probe the system described by the Lifshitz-like backgrounds, we also calculate the holographic entanglement entropy for the subsystems delineated along both transversal and longitudinal directions. We show that the entropy has some universality in the behavior for both subsystems. At the same time, we find that certain characteristics strongly depend on the critical exponent $ν$.

AdS/CFT prescription for angle-deficit space and winding geodesics

We present the holographic computation of the boundary two-point correlator using the GKPW prescription for a scalar field in the AdS$_3$ space with a conical defect. Generally speaking, a conical defect breaks conformal invariance in the dual theory, however we calculate the classical Green functions for a scalar field in the bulk with conical defect and use them to compute the two-point correlator in the boundary theory. We compare the obtained general expression with previous studies based on the geodesic approximation. They are in good agreement for short correlators, and main discrepancy comes in the region of long correlations. Meanwhile, in case of $\mathbb{Z}_r$-orbifold, the GKPW result coincides with the one obtained via geodesic images prescription and with the general result for the boundary theory, which is conformal in this special case.

QGP time formation in holographic shock waves model of heavy ion collisions

We estimate the thermalization time in two colliding shock waves holographic model of heavy-ion collisions. For this purpose we model the process by the Vaidya metric with a horizon defined by the trapped surface location. We consider two bottom-up AdS/QCD models that give, within the colliding shock waves approach, the dependence of multiplicity on the energy compatible with RHIC and LHC results. One model is a bottom-up AdS/QCD confining model and the other is related to an anisotropic thermalization. We estimate the thermalization time and show that increasing the confining potential decreases the thermalization time as well as an anisotropy accelerates the thermalization.

Superluminal Dark Neutrinos

The OPERA collaboration has claimed the discovery of supeluminal neutrino propagation. However the superluminal interpretation of the OPERA result was refuted by Cohen and Glashow because it was shown that such superluminal neutrinos would lose energy rapidly via the bremsstrahlung of electron-positron pairs (arXiv:1109.6562). We note that the superluminal interpretation is still possible if there exists a new (dark) neutrino which can propagate with a superluminal velocity and which couples with usual neutrinos only via the mass mixing leading to neutrino oscillations. It is supposed that the physical laws are invariant under rotations and translations in a preferred reference frame. Two possible pictures to parameterize departures from Lorentz invariance are discussed: a "conventional" tachyonic dark neutrino and the modification of the Lagrangian by adding perturbations with the maximum attainable speed of the dark neutrino which is larger than the speed of light in vacuum. We analyze also the MINOS and SN1987a data and show that they are consistent with the conjecture that there exists the superluminal dark neutrino.

Stable Exact Solutions in Cosmological Models with Two Scalar Fields

The stability of isotropic cosmological solutions for two-field models in the Bianchi I metric is considered. We prove that the sufficient conditions for the Lyapunov stability in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric provide the stability with respect to anisotropic perturbations in the Bianchi I metric and with respect to the cold dark matter energy density fluctuations. Sufficient conditions for the Lyapunov stability of the isotropic fixed points of the system of the Einstein equations have been found. We use the superpotential method to construct stable kink-type solutions and obtain sufficient conditions on the superpotential for the Lyapunov stability of the corresponding exact solutions. We analyze the stability of isotropic kink-type solutions for string field theory inspired cosmological models.

Null Energy Condition Violation and Classical Stability in the Bianchi I Metric

The stability of isotropic cosmological solutions in the Bianchi I model is considered. We prove that the stability of isotropic solutions in the Bianchi I metric for a positive Hubble parameter follows from their stability in the Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric. This result is applied to models inspired by string field theory, which violate the null energy condition. Examples of stable isotropic solutions are presented. We also consider the k-essence model and analyse the stability of solutions of the form $Φ(t)=t$.

Taming the Non Abelian Born-Infeld Action

We show how to reduce the non abelian Born-Infeld action describing the interaction of two D-particles to the sum of elliptic integrals depending on simple kinematic invariants. This representation gives explicitly all alpha' corrections to D-particle dynamics. The alpha' corrections induce a stabilization of the classical trajectories such as the ``eikonal'' which are unstable within the Yang-Mills approximation.
