Integration of diamond nanobeams with SnVs on Al2O3 waveguides for scalable quantum photonic chip application

Tin vacancy (SnV) centers in diamond are promising solid state qubits for integrated quantum photonics. Here, we fabricate and characterize a diamond on Al2O3 dual taper waveguide structure containing SnV centers, demonstrating optical coupling between the diamond nanobeam and the underlying Al2O3 waveguide. The devices are realized using a bilayer fabrication approach compatible with wafer scale lithography. Clear guided SnV- emission is observed in all optically active devices, indicating effective optical coupling in the integrated structure. These results demonstrate a scalable fabrication approach toward integrating diamond color centers with photonic waveguides.

Phonon dynamics of a bulk WSe$_2$ crystal excited by ultrashort near-infrared pulses

Pump-probe reflectivity measurements have been performed on a single crystal of tungsten diselenide (WSe$_2$) using ultrashort near-infrared pulses. The behavior is well reproduced in simulations superimposing three oscillations (7.45, 7.49 and 7.7 THz) with different phases. The Fourier transform spectrum features small peaks at 4.0 and 11.5 THz along with intense peaks at around 7.5 THz.

Dual role of longitudinal optical phonons for generation of coherent oscillations in gallium arsenide under optical pumping

We present a novel and simple picture of the generation dynamics of coherent longitudinal optical (LO) phonons and LO-phonon-plasmon-coupled (LOPC) modes by the ultrafast infrared pump-pulses in gallium arsenide (GaAs) employing the low-temperature approximation. LO phonons exhibit a pronounced coupling with plasmons formed by the optically excited electrons in the excited states of GaAs. This coupling results in the coherent oscillation of the LOPC modes in the excited states. The pump pulse also induces stimulated Raman scattering, which generates the coherent LO-phonon oscillation in the ground state. This picture is incorporated into a simplified model, and the time evolution of the density operator is calculated using the Lindblad-type quantum master equation. The theoretical results explain well the reported experimental results on the coherent oscillation of LO phonons and LOPC modes observed through transient reflection measurements. Above all, our model provides a natural reason for the simultaneous manifestation of the LO phonons and the LOPC modes.
