The dyadic denominator law for the phase constants of the Jacobi zeros

The asymptotic phase for the zeros of a Jacobi polynomial contains additive constants $\kappa_r$ that are not determined by the phase equation. We study their denominators as polynomials in $A=\alpha^2$ and $B=\beta^2$. We prove that the odd part of $\den\kappa_r$ divides $\operatorname{lcm}(1,3,\ldots,2r-1)$ and that $2^{E_r}\kappa_r$ is $2$-adically integral, where $E_r=3r-1+\nu_2((r-1)!)$. The extremal coefficient is governed by the valuation law \[ \nu_2\!\left(\sum_{j=0}^{m}\binom mj\frac1{2j+1}\right) =m+\nu_2(m+1), \] which follows from the identity $\sum_{k\ge0}k!/(2k+1)!!=0$ in $\mathbb Q_2$. We also transform the conjectural sharp denominator law into a single coefficientwise statement. If $\Phi$ is the Borel transform of the Legendre tangent and $W(t)=\sinh(2t)\operatorname{Im}\Phi(t)/t^2=\sum_{m\ge0}w_mt^{2m}$, then the sharp law is equivalent, with equality preserved at each index, to $((2m)!)^2w_m\in\mathbb Z_2^\times$ for every $m$. This final integrality statement (Conjecture~W below) has since been proved in the companion paper of this series, so the sharp denominator law holds in all orders; the present paper establishes the normal form and the valuation-exact transfer, and records the exact evidence and the structural obstructions that delimited that proof.

Bernstein-type bases on $q$-quadratic lattices and Askey--Wilson\slash $q$-Racah connection coefficients

On the $q$-quadratic lattices that carry the Askey--Wilson polynomials, the two roles played by a single Bernstein basis on the linear lattice, namely being a nonnegative partition of unity and carrying an orthogonal connection with the classical families, split between two distinct bases. The affine (spectral) basis retains the B\'ezier properties. A first-order lattice ladder exists in degrees at most two, but fails in degree three for every $q$, as shown by an explicitly factorised determinant. The affine factors do not satisfy the weight-shift mechanism that produces the $q$-Racah connection for the generalized-power basis. The generalized-power basis, built from products of two Askey--Wilson monomials, does not furnish a nonnegative partition of unity in a natural positive parameter region, specified in the text; there the unique normalisation summing to unity has sign-changing coefficients. Nevertheless, its connection coefficients with the Askey--Wilson polynomials are identified completely: they are $q$-Racah polynomials $R_m(\mu(k);\,ad/q,\,bc/q,\,q^{-n-1},\,a/b\,|\,q)$ multiplied by fully explicit prefactors. The proof is bispectral, valid for every degree, and rests on the tridiagonal action of the Askey--Wilson operator on the generalized-power basis, with explicit band coefficients. A scaled limit recovers the Wilson/Racah connection, while a second limit gives the $q$-Hahn polynomial part of the normalised $q$-linear connection coefficients. A numerical case study on the NACA 2412 airfoil illustrates the orthogonal machinery.

Exact discrete-adjoint optimization of trap timing and placement in a Stieltjes-time reaction-diffusion model: A Galicia case study

Seasonal population models must combine diffusion, inactive periods and abrupt biological transfers while remaining differentiable with respect to localized interventions. We formulate a finite-dimensional timing-and-placement control problem for a Stieltjes-time reaction--diffusion model and derive the exact adjoint of the fully discrete residual. Continuous finite elements and an implicit Stieltjes--Euler scheme represent propagation, compartment replacement, resets and historical phase averages. For the resulting box-constrained penalized problem, we prove well-posedness and differentiability of the discrete control-to-state map, existence of a minimizer, first-order stationarity, and equivalence between direct-sensitivity and adjoint gradients. Benchmark tests show machine-precision agreement (below $3\times10^{-15}$) and adjoint speed-ups from about $7.5$ to $30.9$ as the number of traps increases from one to four. The method is applied to \textit{Vespa velutina} trap campaigns on a realistic Galicia mesh. Smoothed activation windows, domain-normalized moving kernels and the complete adjoint are independently verified. The final two-cluster control remains admissible and has a scaled gradient infinity norm of $2.97\times10^{-5}$ with 120 temporal subdivisions per month. Fixed-control evaluations at 60, 120 and 240 subdivisions yield a refinement-increment ratio of $0.4984$. At the finest level, the joint control outperforms time-only and reference controls, reducing the diagnostic objective by $0.49209%$. This reduction depends on uncalibrated trap-to-mortality intensities and should not be interpreted as field capture efficacy. The framework is fully reproducible, without claiming global optimality or a calibrated field-management prescription.

Fourier transforms of orthogonal polynomials on the cone

The purpose of this paper is to obtain Fourier transforms of multivariate orthogonal polynomials on the cone such as Laguerre polynomials on the cone and Jacobi polynomials on the cone and to define two new families of multivariate orthogonal functions by using Parseval's identity. Also, the obtained results are expressed in terms of the continuous Hahn polynomials.

A Digital Twin of a Compartmental Epidemiological Model based on a Stieltjes Differential Equation

We introduce a digital twin of the classical compartmental SIR (Susceptible, Infected, Recovered) epidemic model and study the interrelation between the digital twin and the system. In doing so, we use Stieltjes derivatives to feed the data from the real system to the virtual model which, in return, improves it in real time. As a byproduct of the model, we present a precise mathematical definition of solution to the problem. We also analyze the existence and uniqueness of solutions, introduce the concept of Main Digital Twin and present some numerical simulations with real data of the COVID-19 epidemic, showing the accuracy of the proposed ideas.

Learning and teaching Einstein's Theory of Special Relativity: state of the art

This work analyzes the difficulties in learning and teaching Einstein's theory of special relativity. An extensive bibliographic review has been performed, considering articles published in the most relevant journals on science education, which were selected taking into account the following impact factors: JCR, SJR, IN-RECS and ICDS. The typical thinking of students and teachers is discussed pointing out that, occasionally, it does not befit the proper scientific perspective. Different educational proposals are examined and particular didactic implications are inferred. The conclusions of this inquiry constitute the basis of a proposal that relies on a Minkowskian geometrical formulation for teaching special relativity in upper secondary education.

A new family of orthogonal polynomials in three variables

In this paper we introduce a six-parameter generalization of the four-parameter three-variable polynomials on the simplex and we investigate the properties of these polynomials. Sparse recurrence relations are derived by using ladder relations for shifted univariate Jacobi polynomials and bivariate polynomials on the triangle. Via these sparse recurrence relations, second order partial differential equations are presented. Furthermore, some connection relations are obtained between these polynomials. Finally, new results for the four-parameter three-variable polynomials on the simplex are given.

Nonlocal time porous medium equation with fractional time derivative

We consider nonlinear nonlocal diffusive evolution equations, governed by fractional Laplace-type operators, fractional time derivative and involving porous medium type nonlinearities. Existence and uniqueness of weak solutions are established using approximating solutions and the theory of maximal monotone operators. Using the De Giorgi-Nash-Moser technique, we prove that the solutions are bounded and Hölder continuous for all positive time.

On quasi-periodicity properties of fractional integrals and fractional derivatives of periodic functions

This paper is devoted to the study of quasi-periodic properties of fractional order integrals and derivatives of periodic functions. Considering Riemann-Liouville and Caputo definitions, we discuss when the fractional derivative and when the fractional integral of a certain class of periodic functions satisfies particular properties. We study concepts close to the well known idea of periodic function, such as S-asymptotically periodic, asymptotically periodic or almost periodic function. Boundedness of fractional derivative and fractional integral of a periodic function is also studied.

A basic class of symmetric orthogonal polynomials of a discrete variable

By using a generalization of Sturm-Liouville problems in discrete spaces, a basic class of symmetric orthogonal polynomials of a discrete variable with four free parameters, which generalizes all classical discrete symmetric orthogonal polynomials, is introduced. The standard properties of these polynomials, such as a second order difference equation, an explicit form for the polynomials, a three term recurrence relation and an orthogonality relation are presented. It is shown that two hypergeometric orthogonal sequences with 20 different weight functions can be extracted from this class. Moreover, moments corresponding to these weight functions can be explicitly computed. Finally, a particular example containing all classical discrete symmetric orthogonal polynomials is studied in detail.
