Poly-Poisson Sigma models and their relational poly-symplectic groupoids

The main idea of this note is to describe the integration procedure for poly-Poisson structures, that is, to find a poly-symplectic groupoid integrating a poly-Poisson structure, in terms of topological field theories, namely via the path-space construction. This will be given in terms of the poly-Poisson sigma model $(PPSM)$ and we prove that every poly-Poisson structure has a natural integration via relational poly-symplectic groupoids, extending the results in [8] and [26]. We provide familiar examples (trivial, linear, constant and symplectic) within this formulation and we give some applications of this construction regarding the classification of poly-symplectic integrations, as well as Morita equivalence of poly-Poisson manifolds.

Hyperwalk Formulae for Even and Odd Laplacians in Finite CW-Hypergraphs

In this note we provide a combinatorial interpretation for the powers of the hypergraph Laplacians. Our motivation comes from the discrete formulation of quantum mechanics and thermodynamics in the case of finite graphs, which suggest a natural extension to simplicial and CW-complexes. With this motivation, we also define generalizations of the odd Laplacian which is specific to hypergraphs arising from CW-complexes. We then provide a combinatorial interpretation for the powers of these Laplacians.

A Functorial Construction of Quantum Subtheories

We apply the geometric quantization procedure via symplectic groupoids proposed by E. Hawkins to the setting of epistemically restricted toy theories formalized by Spekkens. In the continuous degrees of freedom, this produces the algebraic structure of quadrature quantum subtheories. In the odd-prime finite degrees of freedom, we obtain a functor from the Frobenius algebra in \textbf{Rel} of the toy theories to the Frobenius algebra of stabilizer quantum mechanics.

The Graph Laplacian and Morse Inequalities

The objective of this note is to provide an interpretation of the discrete version of Morse inequalities, following Witten's approach via supersymmetric quantum mechanics, adapted to finite graphs, as a particular instance of Morse-Witten theory for cell complexes. We describe the general framework of graph quantum mechanics and we produce discrete versions of the Hodge theorems and energy cut-offs within this formulation.

Geometric Quantization and Epistemically Restricted Theories: The Continuous Case

It is possible to reproduce the quantum features of quantum states, starting from a classical statistical theory and then limiting the amount of knowledge that an agent can have about an individual system [5, 18].These are so called epistemic restrictions. Such restrictions have been recently formulated in terms of the symplectic geometry of the corresponding classical theory [19]. The purpose of this note is to describe, using this symplectic framework, how to obtain a C*-algebraic formulation for the epistemically restricted theories. In the case of continuous variables, following the groupoid quantization recipe of E. Hawkins, we obtain a twisted group C*-algebra which is the usual Moyal quantization of a Poisson vector space [12].

On the geometry of mixed states and the Fisher information tensor

In this paper, we will review the co-adjoint orbit formulation of finite dimensional quantum mechanics, and in this framework, we will interpret the notion of quantum Fisher information index (and metric). Following previous work of part of the authors, who introduced the definition of Fisher information tensor, we will show how its antisymmetric part is the pullback of the natural Kostant-Kirillov-Souriau symplectic form along some natural diffeomorphism. In order to do this, we will need to understand the symmetric logarithmic derivative as a proper 1-form, settling the issues about its very definition and explicit computation. Moreover, the fibration of co-adjoint orbits, seen as spaces of mixed states, is also discussed.

Relational symplectic groupoids

This note introduces the construction of relational symplectic groupoids as a way to integrate every Poisson manifold. Examples are provided and the equivalence, in the integrable case, with the usual notion of symplectic groupoid is discussed.

Groupoids, Frobenius algebras and Poisson sigma models

In this paper we discuss some connections between groupoids and Frobenius algebras specialized in the case of Poisson sigma models with boundary. We prove a correspondence between groupoids in the category Set and relative Frobenius algebras in the category Rel, as well as an adjunction between a special type of semigroupoids and relative H*-algebras. The connection between groupoids and Frobenius algebras is made explicit by introducing what we called weak monoids and relational symplectic groupoids, in the context of Poisson sigma models with boundary and in particular, describing such structures in the ex- tended symplectic category and the category of Hilbert spaces. This is part of a joint work with Alberto Cattaneo and Chris Heunen.

Relational symplectic groupoids and Poisson sigma models with boundary

We introduce the notion of relational symplectic groupoid as a way to integrate Poisson manifolds in general, following the construction through the Poisson sigma model (PSM) given by Cattaneo and Felder. We extend such construction to the infinite dimensional setting, where we are able to describe the relational symplectic groupoid in terms of immersed Lagrangian Bannach submanifolds. This corresponds to a groupoid object in the "extended symplectic category" and it can be related to the ususal version of symplectic groupoids via reduction. We prove the existence of such an object for any Poisson manifold and the uniqueness of a compatible Poisson structure on the base, for a special type of relational symplectic groupoids. We develop the notion of equivalence, that allows us to compare finite and infinite dimensional examples. We discuss some other extensions to different categories, where the relational construction still make sense, in an effort to understand better geometric quantization of symplectic manifolds in this new perspective.

Groupoids and Poisson sigma models with boundary

This note gives an overview on the construction of symplectic groupoids as reduced phase spaces of Poisson sigma models and its generalization in the infinite dimensional setting (before reduction).

Relative Frobenius algebras are groupoids

We functorially characterize groupoids as special dagger Frobenius algebras in the category of sets and relations. This is then generalized to a non-unital setting, by establishing an adjunction between H*-algebras in the category of sets and relations, and locally cancellative regular semigroupoids. Finally, we study a universal passage from the former setting to the latter.
