Uniform existence of the integrated density of states for combinatorial and metric graphs over Z^d

We give an overview and extension of recent results on ergodic random Schrödinger operators for models on $\mathbb{Z}^d$. The operators we consider are defined on combinatorial or metric graphs, with random potentials, random boundary conditions and random metrics taking values in a finite set. We show that normalized finite volume eigenvalue counting functions converge to a limit uniformly in the energy variable, at least locally. This limit, the integrated density of states (IDS), can be expressed by a closed Shubin-Pastur type trace formula. The set of points of increase of the IDS supports the spectrum and its points of discontinuity are characterized by existence of compactly supported eigenfunctions. This applies to several examples, including various periodic operators and percolation models.

Uniform existence of the integrated density of states for random Schrödinger operators on metric graphs over $\mathbb{Z}^d$

We consider ergodic random magnetic Schrödinger operators on the metric graph $\mathbb{Z}^d$ with random potentials and random boundary conditions taking values in a finite set. We show that normalized finite volume eigenvalue counting functions converge to a limit uniformly in the energy variable. This limit, the integrated density of states, can be expressed by a closed Shubin-Pastur type trace formula. It supports the spectrum and its points of discontinuity are characterized by existence of compactly supported eigenfunctions. Among other examples we discuss percolation models.

Sharpness of the phase transition and exponential decay of the subcritical cluster size for percolation on quasi-transitive graphs

We study homogeneous, independent percolation on general quasi-transitive graphs. We prove that in the disorder regime where all clusters are finite almost surely, in fact the expectation of the cluster size is finite. This extends a well-known theorem by Menshikov and Aizenman & Barsky to all quasi-transitive graphs. Moreover we deduce that in this disorder regime the cluster size distribution decays exponentially, extending a result of Aizenman & Newman. Our results apply to both edge and site percolation, as well as long range (edge) percolation. The proof is based on a modification of the Aizenman & Barsky method.

The modulus of continuity of Wegner estimates for random Schrödinger operators on metric graphs

We consider an alloy type potential on an infinite metric graph. We assume a covering condition on the single site potentials. For random Schrödingers operator associated with the alloy type potential restricted to finite volume subgraphs we prove a Wegner estimate which reproduces the modulus of continuity of the single site distribution measure. The Wegner constant is independent of the energy.

Uniform existence of the integrated density of states for models on $\ZZ^d$

We provide an ergodic theorem for certain Banach-space valued functions on structures over $\ZZ^d$, which allow for existence of frequencies of finite patterns. As an application we obtain existence of the integrated density of states for associated finite-range operators in the sense of convergence of the distributions with respect to the supremum norm. These results apply to various examples including periodic operators, percolation models and nearest-neighbour hopping on the set of visible points. Our method gives explicit bounds on the speed of convergence in terms of the speed of convergence of the underlying frequencies. It uses neither von Neumann algebras nor a framework of random operators on a probability space.
