Spectral Analysis of Percolation Hamiltonians

We study the family of Hamiltonians which corresponds to the adjacency operators on a percolation graph. We characterise the set of energies which are almost surely eigenvalues with finitely supported eigenfunctions. This set of energies is a dense subset of the algebraic integers. The integrated density of states has discontinuities precisely at this set of energies. We show that the convergence of the integrated densities of states of finite box Hamiltonians to the one on the whole space holds even at the points of discontinuity. For this we use an equicontinuity-from-the-right argument. The same statements hold for the restriction of the Hamiltonian to the infinite cluster. In this case we prove that the integrated density of states can be constructed using local data only. Finally we study some mixed Anderson-Quantum percolation models and establish results in the spirit of Wegner, and Delyon and Souillard.

Quantum site percolation on amenable graphs

We consider the quantum site percolation model on graphs with an amenable group action. It consists of a random family of Hamiltonians. Basic spectral properties of these operators are derived: non-randomness of the spectrum and its components, existence of an self-averaging integrated density of states and an associated trace-formula.

Integrated density of states and Wegner estimates for random Schrödinger Operators

We survey recent results on spectral properties of random Schrödinger operators. The focus is set on the integrated density of states (IDS). First we present a proof of the existence of a self-averaging IDS which is general enough to be applicable to random Schrödinger and Laplace-Beltrami operators on manifolds. Subsequently we study more specific models in Euclidean space, namely of alloy type, and concentrate on the regularity properties of the IDS. We discuss the role of the integrated density of states and its regularity properties for the spectral analysis of random Schrödinger operators, particularly in relation to localisation. Proofs of the central results are given in detail. Whenever there are alternative proofs, the different approaches are compared.

Random Schr"odinger operators on manifolds

We consider a random family of Schrödinger operators on a cover $X$ of a compact Riemannian manifold $M = X/Γ$. We present several results on their spectral theory, in particular almost sure constancy of the spectral components and existence and non-randomness of an integrated density of states. We also sketch a groupoid based general framework which allows to treat basic features of random operators in different contexts in a unified way. Further topics of research are also discussed.

Integrated density of states for random metrics on manifolds

We study ergodic random Schr"odinger operators on a covering manifold, where the randomness enters both via the potential and the metric. We prove measurability of the random operators, almost sure constancy of their spectral properties, the existence of a selfaveraging integrated density of states and a Šubin type trace formula.

Existence of the density of states for one-dimensional alloy-type potentials with small support

We study spectral properties of Schrödinger operators with random potentials of alloy type on $L^2(\RR)$ and their restrictions to finite intervals. A Wegner estimate for non-negative single site potentials with small support is proven. It implies the existence and local uniform boundedness of the density of states. Our estimate is valid for all bounded energy intervals. Wegner estimates play a key role in an existence proof of pure point spectrum.

Existence of the density of states for some alloy type models with single site potentials of changing sign

We study spectral properties of ergodic random Schrödinger operators on $L^2 (\RR^d)$. The density of states is shown to exist for a certain class of alloy type potentials with single site potentials of changing sign. The Wegner estimate we prove implies Anderson localization under certain additional assumptions. For some examples we discuss briefly some properties of the common and conditional densities of the random coupling constants used in the proof of the Wegner estimate.
