Multispreads

Additive one-weight codes over a finite field of non-prime order are equivalent to special subspace coverings of the points of a projective space, which we call multispreads. The current paper is devoted to the characterization of the parameters of multispreads, which is equivalent to the characterization of the parameters of additive one-weight codes and, via duality, of additive completely regular codes of covering radius 1 (intriguing sets). We characterize these parameters for the case of the prime-square order of the field and make a partial characterization for the prime-cube case and the case of the fourth degree of a prime, including a complete characterization for orders 8, 27, and 16. Keywords: spreads, multispreads, additive codes, one-weight codes, completely regular codes, intriguing sets

Binary codes from subset inclusion matrices

In this paper, we study the minimum distances of binary linear codes with parity check matrices formed from subset inclusion matrices $W_{t,n,k}$, representing $t$-element subsets versus $k$-element subsets of an $n$-element set. We provide both lower and upper bounds on the minimum distances of these codes and determine the exact values for any $t\leq 3$ and sufficiently large $n$. Our study combines design and integer linear programming techniques. The codes we consider are connected to locally recoverable codes, LDPC codes and combinatorial designs.

On completely regular codes of covering radius 1 in the halved hypercubes

We consider constructions of covering-radius-1 completely regular codes, or, equivalently, equitable 2-partitions (regular 2-partitions, perfect 2-colorings), of halved n-cubes. Keywords: completely regular code, equitable partition, regular partition, partition design, perfect coloring, halved hypercube.

Ranks of propelinear perfect binary codes

It is proven that for any numbers n=2^m-1, m >= 4 and r, such that n - log(n+1)<= r <= n excluding n = r = 63, n = 127, r in {126,127} and n = r = 2047 there exists a propelinear perfect binary code of length n and rank r.

On weak isometries of Preparata codes

Let C1 and C2 be codes with code distance d. Codes C1 and C2 are called weakly isometric, if there exists a mapping J:C1->C2, such that for any x,y from C1 the equality d(x,y)=d holds if and only if d(J(x),J(y))=d. Obviously two codes are weakly isometric if and only if the minimal distance graphs of these codes are isomorphic. In this paper we prove that Preparata codes of length n>=2^12 are weakly isometric if and only if these codes are equivalent. The analogous result is obtained for punctured Preparata codes of length not less than 2^10-1.

Reconstructing Extended Perfect Binary One-Error-Correcting Codes from Their Minimum Distance Graphs

The minimum distance graph of a code has the codewords as vertices and edges exactly when the Hamming distance between two codewords equals the minimum distance of the code. A constructive proof for reconstructibility of an extended perfect binary one-error-correcting code from its minimum distance graph is presented. Consequently, inequivalent such codes have nonisomorphic minimum distance graphs. Moreover, it is shown that the automorphism group of a minimum distance graph is isomorphic to that of the corresponding code.
