Constraints on Scalar--Tensor--Vector Gravity Theory Parameters Inferred from Quasiperiodic Oscillations

We study circular geodesics of neutral test particles in the static charged solution of Scalar--Tensor--Vector Gravity (STVG), and we use the twin kilohertz quasiperiodic oscillations (QPOs) of twelve accreting compact objects to bound its parameters. Starting from the effective potential we obtain closed forms for the specific energy, the specific angular momentum and the Keplerian angular velocity, and from these the radial and vertical epicyclic frequencies. The horizon, photon sphere, shadow radius and innermost stable circular orbit are given in closed form as well, and each one reduces to the RN and Schwarzschild value in the appropriate limit. Null geodesics are integrated numerically and show how the enhanced coupling widens the capture cross section while leaving the logarithmic divergence of the deflection angle at the photon sphere intact. Within the RP model we then run Metropolis--Hastings MCMC simulations on the QPO pairs of eight neutron stars and four microquasars, comparing the Schwarzschild spacetime, the RN spacetime, STVG with vanishing charge and the full STVG solution. The best fits are obtained mainly for the charged solutions in the neutron star sample, while all four models describe the black hole sample equally well. We show that the orbital dynamics depends on the mass $M$, the coupling $α$ and the charge $Q$ only through the two combinations $\Meff=(1+α)M$ and $\Qeff^{2}=(1+α)(αM^{2}+Q^{2})$, which accounts for the multimodal posteriors found in the neutron star sample and sets a model-independent limit on what QPO timing alone can measure. The astrophysical implications of these bounds, in particular for inferred masses above the Tolman--Oppenheimer--Volkoff limit, are discussed in detail.

Confining nonlinear electrodynamics black holes: from thermodynamic phases to high-frequency phenomena with accretion process

We investigate a static, spherically symmetric black hole solution arising from Einstein gravity coupled to a confining nonlinear electrodynamics model that reproduces Maxwell theory in the strong-field regime while introducing confinement-like corrections at large distances. The resulting metric function is asymptotically Schwarzschild but carries a characteristic Q^3/(9ξ^2 r^4) correction, where $Q$ is the magnetic charge and $ξ$ is the nonlinear electrodynamics parameter, with the conventional Reissner-Nordström term Q^2/r^2 absent. We analyze the horizon structure and construct three-dimensional embedding diagrams to visualize spatial geometry. Using the Gauss-Bonnet theorem, we compute the weak-field deflection angle in vacuum, cold plasma, and axion-plasmon media, finding that the nonlinear electromagnetic corrections reduce the total bending compared to Schwarzschild at fixed Arnowitt-Deser-Misner mass. The gravitational redshift, Joule-Thomson expansion coefficient, and heat capacity are derived, revealing phase transitions and inversion curves that depend on the model parameters. We obtain closed-form expressions for the photon sphere radius, Lyapunov exponent, and shadow size, demonstrating their sensitivity to Q and $ξ$ along observable Intensities. Fully relativistic hydrodynamical simulations of Bondi-Hoyle-Lyttleton accretion show that the confining geometry produces a $\sim 40\%$ enhancement in mass accretion rate relative to Schwarzschild and generates quasi-periodic oscillations with stable 3:2 and 2:1 frequency ratios matching observations from black hole X-ray binaries. These results establish the confining nonlinear electrodynamics black hole as a testable model that can reproduce high-frequency quasi-periodic oscillation pairs without invoking black hole spin.

Beyond Extremality: Weak Gravity Conjecture Constraints on Gravitational Lensing in Gravity's Rainbow

We investigate the constraints imposed by the Weak Gravity Conjecture (WGC) on gravitational lensing in gravity's rainbow, focusing in particular on scenarios beyond extremality and on the interplay between the WGC and the Weak Cosmic Censorship Conjecture (WCCC) in the context of Reissner-Nordström-Anti-de Sitter black holes modified by rainbow gravity. Using topological methods, we first analyze the configuration of photon spheres and confirm that unstable circular photon spheres with topological charge $(ω= -1)$ exist outside the event horizon throughout the parameter space, thereby verifying the simultaneous validity of both the WGC and the WCCC. The rainbow functions $f(\varepsilon)$ and $g(\varepsilon)$, which encode Planck-scale corrections through the energy ratio $(\varepsilon =E/E_P)$, modify both the spacetime metric and the extremality bound. We derive the corresponding modified extremal charge-to-mass ratio, $(q^2/m^2)>(Q^2/M^2)_{\text{ext}}$, and show that gravity's rainbow offers a natural mechanism for reconciling these two fundamental conjectures. By applying the Gauss-Bonnet theorem in conjunction with Jacobi-Maupertuis optical geometry, we compute the weak deflection angles for both photons and massive particles to second order. The rainbow function $g(\varepsilon)$ appears with powers $(g^{-2})$ and $(g^{-4})$, enhancing the deflection angle when $g(\varepsilon)<1$, while $f(\varepsilon)$ influences only the charge-dependent contributions. At extremality, the deflection angle becomes independent of $f(\varepsilon)$, yielding a universal prediction that can be tested without specifying the form of the rainbow functions. We further find that super-extremal configurations exhibit stronger lensing effects than extremal black holes, suggesting a potential observational discriminator between WGC-satisfying naked singularities and WCCC-preserving black holes.

AdS Black String in a Cosmic Web: Geodesics, Shadows, and Thermodynamics

In a recent article (Ref. \cite{AOP}), the authors obtained a static, cylindrically symmetric Anti-de Sitter (AdS) black string (BS) solutions, which are cylindrical generalizations of black holes (BHs), surrounded by a cloud of strings (CS) and the quintessence field (QF), and discussed its properties. In the present study, we present a comprehensive analysis of cylindrically symmetric AdS BSs surrounded by CS and QF. Our analysis yields several significant results. We demonstrate that the presence of CS (parameter $α$) and QF (parameters $c$ and $w$) reduces the radius of circular photon orbits (CPO) and BH shadow size, with measurements constrained by Event Horizon Telescope (EHT) observations of Sagittarius A*. We find that time-like particle orbits show increased energy with higher $α$ and $c$ values. We calculate that C-energy, representing gravitational energy within cylindrical radius, decreases with radial distance but exhibits distinct responses to CS and QF parameters. We observe that scalar perturbation potential increases $r$ for specific $α$ and $c$ values, indicating stronger field-spacetime interactions away from the BS. We determine that Hawking temperature increases linearly with Schwarzschild radius, with parameter-dependent behavior varying based on QF state parameter $w$. These results demonstrate how CS and QF significantly modify the geodesic, perturbative, and thermodynamic properties of AdS BS, with potential observational implications for gravitational lensing, accretion disk dynamics, and BH evaporation signatures in future astronomical observations.

Assessing WGC Compatibility in ModMax Black Holes via Photon Spheres Analysis and WCCC Validation

It seems that the regime of Hawking radiation and evaporation ultimately drives charged black holes toward super-extremality of the charge parameter and the dominance of extremal conditions. This progression, in turn, lays the groundwork for satisfying the necessary conditions for the Weak Gravity Conjecture (WGC). Preliminary studies indicate that black holes such as the Reissner-Nordstr$ö$m (RN) model, in their initial form, lack the capacity to sustain super-extremality of the charge parameter. If such conditions arise, these black holes transition into naked singularities-a scenario that is highly undesirable due to the loss of causality and the breakdown of space-time geometry. This raises whether the inability to sustain super-extremality is an inherent property of the model or a consequence of the approximations and precision limitations employed in its construction. To address this, we turned to the ModMax model, which represents an extension of the RN model. Our analysis revealed that the ModMax model not only accommodates super-extremality of the charge parameter but also, under certain conditions, emerges as a promising candidate for investigating the WGC. Furthermore, we independently observed how the inclusion of the de Sitter radius ($\ell$) in the AdS model and $f(R)$ gravitational corrections-both of which enhance and complicate the model-can have a direct impact on the range of super-extremal charge tolerance which, in turn, provides the realization of the conditions necessary for the WGC.

Geodesics structure and deflection angle of electrically charged black holes in gravity with a background Kalb-Ramond field

This article investigates the geodesic structure and deflection angle of charged black holes in the presence of a nonzero vacuum expectation value background of the Kalb-Ramond field. Topics explored include null and timelike geodesics, energy extraction by collisions, and the motion of charged particles. The photon sphere radius is calculated and plotted to examine the effects of both the black hole charge ($Q$) and the Lorentz-violating parameter ($b$) on null geodesics. The effective potential for timelike geodesics is analyzed, and second-order analytical orbits are derived. We further show that the combined effects of Lorentz-violating parameter and electric charge can mimic a Kerr black hole spin parameter up to its maximum values, i.e., $a/M \sim 1$ thus suggesting that the current precision of measurements of highly spinning black hole candidates may not rule out the effect of Lorentz-violating parameter. The center of mass energy of colliding particles is also considered, demonstrating a decrease with increasing Lorentz-violating parameter. Circular orbiting particles of charged particles are discovered, with the minimum radius for a stable circular orbit decreasing as both $b$ and $Q$ increase. Results show that this circular orbit is particularly sensitive to changes in the Lorentz-violating parameter. Additionally, a timelike particle trajectory is demonstrated as a consequence of the combined effects of parameters $b$ and $Q$. Finally, the light deflection angle is analyzed using the weak field limit approach to determine the Lorentz-breaking effect, employing the Gauss-Bonnet theorem for computation. Findings are visualized with appropriate plots and thoroughly discussed.

Holographic Thermodynamics of an Enhanced Charged AdS Black Hole in String Theory's Playground

In this paper, we consider an $α^{\prime}$ corrected Reissner-Nordström AdS black hole to study thermodynamics. We study the $P-V$ criticality and thermodynamical stability of the black hole. We obtained a first-order phase transition, which may be interpreted as the large/small black hole phase transition. Therefore, we obtained a van der Waals behaviour and obtained critical points. Finally, we calculate quantum work used to resolve the information loss paradox.
