Automated Solution of First Order Factorizable Systems of Differential Equations in One Variable

We present an algorithm which allows to solve analytically linear systems of differential equations which factorize to first order. The solution is given in terms of iterated integrals over an alphabet where its structure is implied by the coefficient matrix of the differential equations. These systems appear in a large variety of higher order calculations in perturbative Quantum Field Theories. We apply this method to calculate the master integrals of the three--loop massive form factors for different currents, as an illustration, and present the results for the vector form factors in detail. Here the solution space emerging is given by the cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms and their associated special constants. No special basis representation of the master integrals is needed. The algorithm can be applied as well to more general cases factorizing at first order, which are based on more general alphabets, iterated integrals and associated constants.

Numerical Implementation of Harmonic Polylogarithms to Weight w = 8

We present the FORTRAN-code HPOLY.f for the numerical calculation of harmonic polylogarithms up to w = 8 at an absolute accuracy of $\sim 4.9 \cdot 10^{-15}$ or better. Using algebraic and argument relations the numerical representation can be limited to the range $x \in [0, \sqrt{2}-1]$. We provide replacement files to map all harmonic polylogarithms to a basis and the usual range of arguments $x \in ]-\infty,+\infty[$ to the above interval analytically. We also briefly comment on a numerical implementation of real valued cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms.

Two-mass three-loop effects in deep-inelastic scattering

We report on recent results on the two-mass corrections for massive operator matrix elements at 2- and 3-loop orders in QCD. These corrections form the building blocks of the variable flavor number scheme. Due to the similar values of the charm and bottom quark masses the two-mass corrections form an important contribution.

Heavy Quark Form Factors at Three Loops in the Planar Limit

We compute the color-planar and complete light quark non-singlet contributions to the heavy quark form factors in the case of the axialvector, scalar and pseudoscalar currents at three loops in perturbative QCD. We evaluate the master integrals applying a new method based on differential equations for general bases, which is applicable for all first order factorizing systems. The analytic results are expressed in terms of harmonic polylogarithms and real-valued cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms.

The Two-mass Contribution to the Three-Loop Gluonic Operator Matrix Element $A_{gg,Q}^{(3)}$

We calculate the two-mass QCD contributions to the massive operator matrix element $A_{gg,Q}$ at $\mathcal{O} (α_s^3)$ in analytic form in Mellin $N$- and $z$-space, maintaining the complete dependence on the heavy quark mass ratio. These terms are important ingredients for the matching relations of the variable flavor number scheme in the presence of two heavy quark flavors, such as charm and bottom. In Mellin $N$-space the result is given in the form of nested harmonic, generalized harmonic, cyclotomic and binomial sums, with arguments depending on the mass ratio. The Mellin inversion of these quantities to $z$-space gives rise to generalized iterated integrals with square root valued letters in the alphabet, depending on the mass ratio as well. Numerical results are presented.

The Heavy Quark Form Factors at Two Loops

We compute the two-loop QCD corrections to the heavy quark form factors in case of the vector, axial-vector, scalar and pseudo-scalar currents up to second order in the dimensional parameter $ε= (4-D)/2$. These terms are required in the renormalization of the higher order corrections to these form factors.

The massive 3-loop operator matrix elements with two masses and the generalized variable flavor number scheme

We report on our latest results in the calculation of the two--mass contributions to 3--loop operator matrix elements (OMEs). These OMEs are needed to compute the corresponding contributions to the deep-inealstic scattering structure functions and to generalize the variable flavor number scheme by including both charm and bottom quarks. We present the results for the non-singlet and $A_{gq,Q}$ OMEs, and compare the size of their contribution relative to the single mass case. Results for the gluonic OME $A_{gg,Q}$ are given in the physical case, going beyond those presented in a previous publication where scalar diagrams were computed. We also discuss our recently published two--mass contribution to the pure singlet OME, and present an alternative method of calculating the corresponding diagrams.

Iterative and Iterative-Noniterative Integral Solutions in 3-Loop Massive QCD Calculations

Various of the single scale quantities in massless and massive QCD up to 3-loop order can be expressed by iterative integrals over certain classes of alphabets, from the harmonic polylogarithms to root-valued alphabets. Examples are the anomalous dimensions to 3-loop order, the massless Wilson coefficients and also different massive operator matrix elements. Starting at 3-loop order, however, also other letters appear in the case of massive operator matrix elements, the so called iterative non-iterative integrals, which are related to solutions based on complete elliptic integrals or any other special function with an integral representation that is definite but not a Volterra-type integral. After outlining the formalism leading to iterative non-iterative integrals,we present examples for both of these cases with the 3-loop anomalous dimension $γ_{qg}^{(2)}$ and the structure of the principle solution in the iterative non-interative case of the 3-loop QCD corrections to the $ρ$-parameter.

Heavy Flavor Wilson Coefficients in Deep-Inelastic Scattering: Recent Results

We present recent analytic results for the 3-loop corrections to the massive operator matrix element $A_{Qg}^{(3)}$for further color factors. These results have been obtained using the method of arbitrarily large moments. We also give an overview on the results which were obtained solving all difference and differential equations for the corresponding master integrals that factorize at first order.

The two-mass contribution to the three-loop pure singlet operator matrix element

We present the two-mass QCD contributions to the pure singlet operator matrix element at three loop order in x-space. These terms are relevant for calculating the structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$ at $O(α_s^3)$ as well as for the matching relations in the variable flavor number scheme and the heavy quark distribution functions at the same order. The result for the operator matrix element is given in terms of generalized iterated integrals that include square root letters in the alphabet, depending also on the mass ratio through the main argument. Numerical results are presented.

Heavy quark form factors at two loops in perturbative QCD

We present the results for heavy quark form factors at two-loop order in perturbative QCD for different currents, namely vector, axial-vector, scalar and pseudo-scalar currents, up to second order in the dimensional regularization parameter. We outline the necessary computational details, ultraviolet renormalization and corresponding universal infrared structure.

Iterated Elliptic and Hypergeometric Integrals for Feynman Diagrams

We calculate 3-loop master integrals for heavy quark correlators and the 3-loop QCD corrections to the $ρ$-parameter. They obey non-factorizing differential equations of second order with more than three singularities, which cannot be factorized in Mellin-$N$ space either. The solution of the homogeneous equations is possible in terms of convergent close integer power series as $_2F_1$ Gauß hypergeometric functions at rational argument. In some cases, integrals of this type can be mapped to complete elliptic integrals at rational argument. This class of functions appears to be the next one arising in the calculation of more complicated Feynman integrals following the harmonic polylogarithms, generalized polylogarithms, cyclotomic harmonic polylogarithms, square-root valued iterated integrals, and combinations thereof, which appear in simpler cases. The inhomogeneous solution of the corresponding differential equations can be given in terms of iterative integrals, where the new innermost letter itself is not an iterative integral. A new class of iterative integrals is introduced containing letters in which (multiple) definite integrals appear as factors. For the elliptic case, we also derive the solution in terms of integrals over modular functions and also modular forms, using $q$-product and series representations implied by Jacobi's $\vartheta_i$ functions and Dedekind's $η$-function. The corresponding representations can be traced back to polynomials out of Lambert--Eisenstein series, having representations also as elliptic polylogarithms, a $q$-factorial $1/η^k(τ)$, logarithms and polylogarithms of $q$ and their $q$-integrals. Due to the specific form of the physical variable $x(q)$ for different processes, different representations do usually appear. Numerical results are also presented.

Three Loop Massive Operator Matrix Elements and Asymptotic Wilson Coefficients with Two Different Masses

Starting at 3-loop order, the massive Wilson coefficients for deep-inelastic scattering and the massive operator matrix elements describing the variable flavor number scheme receive contributions of Feynman diagrams carrying quark lines with two different masses. In the case of the charm and bottom quarks, the usual decoupling of one heavy mass at a time no longer holds, since the ratio of the respective masses, $η= m_c^2/m_b^2 \sim 1/10$, is not small enough. Therefore, the usual variable flavor number scheme (VFNS) has to be generalized. The renormalization procedure in the two--mass case is different from the single mass case derived in \cite{Bierenbaum:2009mv}. We present the moments $N=2,4$ and $6$ for all contributing operator matrix elements, expanding in the ratio $η$. We calculate the analytic results for general values of the Mellin variable $N$ in the flavor non-singlet case, as well as for transversity and the matrix element $A_{gq}^{(3)}$. We also calculate the two-mass scalar integrals of all topologies contributing to the gluonic operator matrix element $A_{gg}$. As it turns out, the expansion in $η$ is usually inapplicable for general values of $N$. We therefore derive the result for general values of the mass ratio. From the single pole terms we derive, now in a two-mass calculation, the corresponding contributions to the 3-loop anomalous dimensions. We introduce a new general class of iterated integrals and study their relations and present special values. The corresponding functions are implemented in computer-algebraic form.

The Three-Loop Splitting Functions $P_{qg}^{(2)}$ and $P_{gg}^{(2, N_F)}$

We calculate the unpolarized twist-2 three-loop splitting functions $P_{qg}^{(2)}(x)$ and $P_{gg}^{(2,\rm N_F)}(x)$ and the associated anomalous dimensions using massive three-loop operator matrix elements. While we calculate $P_{gg}^{(2,\rm N_F)}(x)$ directly, $P_{qg}^{(2)}(x)$ is computed from 1200 even moments, without any structural prejudice, using a hierarchy of recurrences obtained for the corresponding operator matrix element. The largest recurrence to be solved is of order 12 and degree 191. We confirm results in the foregoing literature.

Calculating Three Loop Ladder and V-Topologies for Massive Operator Matrix Elements by Computer Algebra

Three loop ladder and $V$-topology diagrams contributing to the massive operator matrix element $A_{Qg}$ are calculated. The corresponding objects can all be expressed in terms of nested sums and recurrences depending on the Mellin variable $N$ and the dimensional parameter $\varepsilon$. Given these representations, the desired Laurent series expansions in $\varepsilon$ can be obtained with the help of our computer algebra toolbox. Here we rely on generalized hypergeometric functions and Mellin-Barnes representations, on difference ring algorithms for symbolic summation, on an optimized version of the multivariate Almkvist-Zeilberger algorithm for symbolic integration, and on new methods to calculate Laurent series solutions of coupled systems of differential equations. The solutions can be computed for general coefficient matrices directly for any basis also performing the expansion in the dimensional parameter in case it is expressible in terms of indefinite nested product-sum expressions. This structural result is based on new results of our difference ring theory. In the cases discussed we deal with iterative sum- and integral-solutions over general alphabets. The final results are expressed in terms of special sums, forming quasi-shuffle algebras, such as nested harmonic sums, generalized harmonic sums, and nested binomially weighted (cyclotomic) sums. Analytic continuations to complex values of $N$ are possible through the recursion relations obeyed by these quantities and their analytic asymptotic expansions. The latter lead to a host of new constants beyond the multiple zeta values, the infinite generalized harmonic and cyclotomic sums in the case of $V$-topologies.

3-loop heavy flavor Wilson coefficients in deep-inelastic scattering

We present our most recent results on the calculation of the heavy flavor contributions to deep-inelastic scattering at 3-loop order in the large $Q^2$ limit, where the heavy flavor Wilson coefficients are known to factorize into light flavor Wilson coefficients and massive operator matrix elements. We describe the different techniques employed for the calculation and show the results in the case of the heavy flavor non-singlet and pure singlet contributions to the structure function $F_2(x,Q^2)$.
