Leading nucleon and the proton-nucleus inelasticity

We present in this paper a calculation of the average proton-nucleus inelasticity. Using an Iterative Leading Particle Model and the Glauber model, we relate the leading particle distribution in nucleon-nucleus interactions with the respective one in nucleon- proton collisions. To describe the leading particle distribution in nucleon-proton collisions, we use the Regge Mueller formalism. Contribution to 26th ICRC - Salt Lake City, Utah. August, 1999. HE 1.1.14

Leading nucleon and the hadronic flux in the atmosphere

We present in this paper a calculation of the hadronic flux in the atmosphere. Using an iterative leading particle model and the Glauber model, we relate the moment of the leading particle distribution in nucleon-air collisions with the respective one in nucleon-proton collisions. In this way, we obtain a description of the nucleonic and hadronic fluxes in the atmosphere. Contribution to the 26th International Cosmic Ray Conference, Salt Lake City - Utah, August 1999 (HE 1.2.20).

Inelastic proton-air cross section in U.H.E

We calculate the inelastic proton-air cross section by means of the Glauber model. As input, we use accelerator experimental data on the total proton-proton cross section and compare with cosmic ray experimental data and Monte Carlo simulations. Contribution to the 26th International Cosmic Ray Conference, Salt Lake City, Utah. HE 1.3.13. August, 1999.

Composition of Primary Cosmic Rays Beyond the ``Knee''from Emulsion Chamber Observations

We show that the simplest assumptions for the dynamics of particle production allow us to understand the fluxes of hadrons and photons at mountain altitudes as well as the structure of individual events. The analysis requires a heavy nuclear component of primary cosmic rays above the ``knee" in the spectrum with average mass number $ = 7.3 \pm 0.9$.

On mixing angles and resonances in three neutrino oscillations in matter

We find exact analytical expressions for mixing angles in matter in the context of three generation neutrino oscillations in matter to discuss the role of resonances in this phenomenon. We show that some knowledge from conventional two neutrino MSW effect, which has been extended to approximated solutions to three neutrino oscillations, has to be abandoned in this exact approach. We observe that maximal values for the mixing angles in matter are found in nonresonant regions and stationary phases do not coincide anymore with resonances in this simple extension of the MSW effect. We present a general way to identify a resonance and discuss what we can physically expect in these regions.

Diffractive Contribution to the Elasticity and the Nucleonic Flux in the Atmosphere

We calculate the average elasticity considering non-diffractive and single diffractive interactions and perform an analysis of the cosmic-ray flux by means of an analytical solution for the nucleonic diffusion equation. We show that the diffractive contribution is important for the adequate description of the nucleonic and hadronic fluxes in the atmosphere.
