Electromagnetic form factors of the $\mathbfΩ$ baryon: space-like structure and time-like extrapolation

We calculate the elastic electromagnetic multipole form factors of the $Ω^-$ baryon using a symmetry-preserving vector$\,\otimes\,$vector contact interaction in rainbow--ladder truncation and a Poincaré-covariant quark--diquark Faddeev equation. A conserved electromagnetic current yields the electric monopole, magnetic dipole, electric quadrupole, and magnetic octupole form factors. We examine their sensitivity to a phenomenological transverse dressed-quark anomalous magnetic moment (AMM). The magnetic and higher multipoles show the strongest dependence, whereas the AMM contribution is progressively suppressed with increasing momentum transfer. The calculated magnetic moment is larger in magnitude than the experimental value, and a positive AMM contribution increases this discrepancy, exposing a limitation of the present truncation. We also construct a model-dependent time-like extrapolation of the space-like results, motivated by their asymptotic behavior, and use it to evaluate the effective form factor measured in $e^+e^-\toΩ^-\barΩ^+$. The extrapolation describes the broad trend at larger energies but does not incorporate resonances, final-state interactions, unitarity cuts, or the complex phase structure required near threshold.

Unified Description of Pseudoscalar Meson Structure from Light to Heavy Quarks

We present a comprehensive review of the structure of pseudoscalar mesons within an algebraic model formulated in the light-front framework. The approach provides a unified description of leading-twist parton distribution amplitudes (PDAs), light-front wave functions (LFWFs), generalized parton distributions (GPDs), parton distribution functions (PDFs), elastic electromagnetic form factors (EFFs), charge radii, and impact-parameter GPDs (IPS-GPDs), all derived consistently from the same underlying Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes. Results are discussed for light ($π$, $K$), heavy-light ($D$, $D_s$, $B$, $B_s$, $B_c$), and heavy-heavy ($η_c$, $η_b$) pseudoscalar mesons, allowing for a systematic analysis of the role played by quark-mass asymmetry and heavy-quark dynamics. The study highlights how increasing quark masses drive a transition from broad, asymmetric momentum distributions to increasingly symmetric and spatially compact configurations. Comparisons with lattice QCD, Dyson-Schwinger equation studies, and contact-interaction models are presented where available. Overall, the algebraic model offers a transparent and symmetry-consistent framework to explore the three-dimensional momentum and spatial structure of pseudoscalar mesons across all quark-mass regimes.

Heavy-heavy and heavy-light mesons in cold nuclear matter

We review the in-medium modifications of effective masses (Lorentz scalar potentials or phenomenon of mass shift) of heavy-heavy and heavy-light mesons in symmetric nuclear matter and their nuclear bound states. We use a combined approach with the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model and an effective Lagrangian. As demonstrated by the cases of pionic and kaonic atoms, studies of meson-nucleus bound state can provide us with important information on chiral symmetry in dense nuclear medium. In this review, we treat the mesons, $K, K^*, D, D^*, B, B^*, η, η', ϕ, η_c, J/ψ, η_b, Υ$, and $B_c$, where our emphasys is on the heavy mesons. In addition, we also present some new results for the $B_c$-nucleus bound states.

$B_c^{\pm}$-$^{12}$C states and detailed study of momentum space method for $Υ$- and $η_b$-nucleus bound states

We perform a detailed study of the $Υ$-, $η_b$-, and $B_c$-nucleus systems in momentum space to calculate the bound-state energies and the corresponding coordinate-space radial wave functions. The attractive strong potentials for the meson-nucleus systems are calculated from the Lorentz scalar mass modifications of these mesons in nuclear matter in the local density approximation in the nucleus. The downward shift of the meson masses may be regarded as a signature of partial restoration of chiral symmetry in a nuclear medium applied in the present study in an empirical sense, because the origin of the negative mass shift in this study is not directly related to the chiral symmetry mechanism. Furthermore, as an initial and realistic study, the $B_c^{\pm}$-$^{12}$C bound states are studied for the first time, with the effects of self-consistently calculated Coulomb potentials in $^{12}$C (when the $B_c^{\pm}$ mesons are absent).

The glue that binds us all -- Latin America and the Electron-Ion Collider

The Electron-Ion Collider, a next generation electron-hadron and electron-nuclei scattering facility, will be built at Brookhaven National Laboratory. The wealth of new data will shape research in hadron physics, from nonperturbative QCD techniques to perturbative QCD improvements and global QCD analyses, for the decades to come. With the present proposal, Latin America based physicists, whose expertise lies on the theory and phenomenology side, make the case for the past and future efforts of a growing community, working hand-in-hand towards developing theoretical tools and predictions to analyze, interpret and optimize the results that will be obtained at the EIC, unveiling the role of the glue that binds us all. This effort is along the lines of various initiatives taken in the U.S., and supported by colleagues worldwide, such as the ones by the EIC User Group which were highlighted during the Snowmass Process and the Particle Physics Project Prioritization Panel (P5).

Heavy-light Pseudoscalar Mesons: Light-Front Wave Functions and Generalized Parton Distributions

The internal structure of the lowest-lying pseudo-scalar mesons with heavy-light quark content is thoroughly studied using an algebraic model that has been successfully applied to similar physical observables of pseudoscalar and vector mesons with hidden-flavor quark content, ranging from light to heavy quark sectors. This model is based on constructing simple and evidence-based ansätze for the mesons' Bethe-Salpeter amplitude (BSA) and quark propagator, allowing the Bethe-Salpeter wave function (BSWF) to be computed algebraically. Its projection onto the light front yields the corresponding light-front wave function (LFWF), which provides easy access to the valence-quark Parton Distribution Amplitude (PDA) by integrating over the transverse momentum squared. We leverage our current knowledge of the PDAs of the lowest-lying pseudo-scalar heavy-light mesons to compute their Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) via the overlap representation of the LFWFs. From this three-dimensional information, various limits and projections allow us to deduce the related Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs), Electromagnetic Form Factors (EFFs), and Impact Parameter Space GPDs (IPS-GPDs). Whenever possible, we make explicit comparisons with available experimental results and previous theoretical predictions.

An algebraic model to study the internal structure of pseudo-scalar mesons with heavy-light quark content

The internal structure of all lowest-lying pseudo-scalar mesons with heavy-light quark content is studied in detail using an algebraic model that has been applied recently, and successfully, to the same physical observables of pseudo-scalar and vector mesons with hidden-flavor quark content, from light to heavy quark sectors. The algebraic model consists on constructing simple and evidence-based \emph{ansätze} of the meson's Bethe-Salpeter amplitude (BSA) and quark's propagator in such a way that the Bethe-Salpeter wave function (BSWF) can then be readily computed algebraically. Its subsequent projection onto the light front yields the light front wave function (LFWF) whose form allows us a simple access to the valence-quark Parton Distribution Amplitude (PDA) by integrating over the transverse momentum squared. We exploit our current knowledge of the PDAs of lowest-lying pseudo-scalar heavy-light mesons to compute their Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) through the overlap representation of LFWFs. From these three dimensional knowledge, different limits/projections lead us to deduce the related Parton Distribution functions (PDFs), Electromagnetic Form Factors (EFFs), and Impact parameter space GPDs (IPS-GPDs). When possible, we make explicit comparisons with available experimental results and earlier theoretical predictions.

A contact interaction model for the $η$ and $η'$ mesons in a SDE-BSE approach to QCD: masses, decay widths and transition form factors

We construct a contact interaction model for the $η$ and $η'$ mesons in the SDE-BSE approach to QCD and compute several static properties of these mesons and their transition form factors. We find that this model gives an excellent description of the $η$ and $η'$ static properties, namely their masses, decay width and decay constants. However, a contact interaction disagrees with experimental data for $Q^2$ greater than 2 GeV$^2$, and produces transition form factors in conflict with perturbative QCD prediction. This is not surpring and the reasons for this are explained

Light-front Wave Functions of Vector Mesons in an Algebraic Model

Inspired by the recent development of an algebraic model which provides an adequate and unified description of the internal structure of the lowest-lying pseudo-scalar mesons, belonging both to the light quarks sector and to the one of heavy quarks, we perform its first extension to the vector-meson case. The algebraic model describes meson's structure in terms of the spectral density function that appears in a Nakanishi integral representation of the covariant quark-antiquark bound-state amplitude, \emph{i.e.}, the Bethe-Salpeter amplitude. We compute the leading-twist light-front wave functions of the $ρ(770)$, $ϕ(1020)$, $J/ψ$ and $Υ(1S)$ mesons through their connection with the parton distribution amplitudes. Among the results we present, the following are of particular interest: (i) transverse light-front wave functions can be obtained algebraically from the corresponding parton distribution amplitudes, whereas that is not the case for longitudinal light-front wave functions, which requires an intermediate step where a spectral density function must be derived from the particular parton distribution amplitude; (ii) the derived spectral density functions show marked differences between light and heavy vector mesons, the latter being narrower as compared to the former; these are also non-positive definite, although the integral over the entire curve is larger than zero as expected; and (iii) the longitudinal and transverse light-front wave functions of vector mesons with light quark content exhibit steep $x$- and $p_\perp^2$-dependence, while those of the $J/ψ$ and $Υ(1S)$ mesons are characterized by narrow distributions in the $x$-range but, comparatively, much more gradual fall-offs with respect to the $p_\perp^2$-range depicted.

Plasma screening and the critical end point in the QCD phase diagram

In heavy-ion collisions, fluctuations of conserved charges are known to be sensitive observables to probe criticality for the QCD phase transition and to locate the position of the putative critical end point (CEP). In this work we seek to show that the Linear Sigma Model with quarks produces an effective description of the QCD phase diagram in which deviations from a Hadron Resonance Gas are due to plasma screening effects, encoded in the contribution of the ring diagrams. Accounting for these, it is possible to include in the description the effect of long-range correlations. To set the model parameters we use LQCD results for the crossover transition at vanishing chemical potential. Finally, studying baryon number fluctuations from the model, we show that the CEP can be located within the HADES and/or the lowest end of the NICA energy domain, $\sqrt{s_{NN}}\sim 2$ GeV.

Collision energy dependence of the critical end point from baryon number fluctuations in the Linear Sigma Model with quarks

We show that the Linear Sigma Model with quarks produces an effective description of the QCD phase diagram and of the system's equilibrium distribution properties that deviate from those of the Hadron Resonance Gas Model. The deviation is due to the inclusion of plasma screening properties, encoded in the contribution of the ring diagrams and thus to the introduction of a key feature of plasmas near phase transitions, namely, long-range correlations. After fixing the model parameters using input from LQCD for the crossover transition at vanishing chemical potential, we study the location of the Critical End Point in the effective QCD phase diagram. We use the model to study baryon number fluctuations and show that in heavy-ion collisions, the CEP can be located for collision energies $\sqrt{s_{NN}}\sim 2$ GeV, namely, in the lowest NICA or within the HADES energy domain.

$Υ$ and $η_b$ nuclear bound states

$Υ$ and $η_b$ nuclear bound state energies are calculated for various nuclei neglecting any possible effects of the widths. Essential input for the calculations, namely the medium-modified $B$ and $B^{*}$ meson masses, as well as the density distributions in nuclei, are calculated within the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. The attractive potentials for the $Υ$ and $η_b$ mesons in nuclei are calculated from the mass shifts of these mesons in nuclear matter in the local density approximation. These potentials originate from the in-medium enhanced $B\overline{B}$ and $BB^{*}$ loops in their respective self energy. After an extensive analysis we conclude that our results suggest that the $Υ$ and $η_b$ mesons should form bound states with all the nuclei considered.

Hidden charm mesons in nuclear matter and nuclei

Recent results for the $η_c$- and $J/ψ$-nucleus bound state energies for various nuclei are presented. The attractive potentials for the $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ mesons in the nuclear medium originate, respectively, from the in-medium enhanced $DD^{*}$ and $D\bar{D}$ loops in the $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ self energies. Our results suggest that the $η_c$ and $J/ψ$ mesons should form bound states with all the nuclei considered.

[1]Title: $Υ$ and $η_b$ mass shifts in nuclear matter and the $^{12}$C nucleus bound states, [2]Title: $Υ$ and $η_b$ mass shifts in nuclear matter and the nucleus bound states

[1]Abstract: This is a contribution for the PANIC 2021 Proceedings based on the articles, Eur. Phys. J. A 57, 259 (2021) and the accompanied article $[$arXiv:2109.08636 $[$hep-ph$]]$ (Hadron 2021 contribution). We have estimated for the first time the mass shifts of the $Υ$ and $η_b$ mesons in symmetric nuclear matter by an SU(5) flavor symmetric effective Lagrangian approach, as well as the in-medium mass of $B^*$ meson by the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. The attractive potentials for the $Υ$- and $η_b$-nuclear matter are obtained, and one can expect for these mesons to form nuclear bound states. We have indeed found such nuclear bound states with $^{12}$C nucleus, where the results for the $^{12}$C nucleus bound state energies are new, and we report here for the first time. [2]Abstract: We estimate for the first time the mass shifts (scalar potentials) in symmetric nuclear matter of the $Υ$ and $η_b$ mesons using an effective Lagrangian approach, as well as the in-medium mass of the $B^*$ meson by the quark-meson coupling model. The attractive potentials of both $Υ$ and $η_b$ are expected to be strong enough for these mesons to be bound to the $^4$He nucleus, and we have obtained such nuclear bound state energies.

Distribution Amplitudes of Heavy Mesons and Quarkonia on the Light Front

The ladder kernel of the Bethe-Salpeter equation is amended by introducing a different flavor dependence of the dressing functions in the heavy-quark sector. Compared with earlier work this allows for the simultaneous calculation of the mass spectrum and leptonic decay constants of light pseudoscalar mesons, the $D_u$, $D_s$, $B_u$, $B_s$ and $B_c$ mesons and the heavy quarkonia $η_c$ and $η_b$ within the same framework at a physical pion mass. The corresponding Bethe-Salpeter amplitudes are projected onto the light front and we reconstruct the distribution amplitudes of the mesons in the full theory. A comparison with the first inverse moment of the heavy meson distribution amplitude in heavy quark effective theory is made.

Color, Flavor, Temperature and Magnetic Field Dependence of QCD Phase Diagram: Magnetic Catalysis and its Inverse

We study dynamical chiral symmetry breaking for quarks in the fundamental representation of $SU(N_c)$ for $N_f$ number of light quark flavors. We also investigate the phase diagram of quantum chromodynamics at finite temperature $T$ and/or in the presence of a constant external magnetic field $eB$. The unified formalism for this analysis is provided by a symmetry-preserving Schwinger-Dyson equations treatment of a vector$\times$vector contact interaction model which encodes several well-established features of quantum chromodynamics to mimic the latter as closely as possible. Deconfinement and chiral symmetry restoration are triggered above a critical value of $N_f$ at $T=0=eB$. On the other hand, increasing temperature itself screens strong interactions, thus ensuring that a smaller value of $N_f$ is sufficient to restore chiral symmetry at higher temperatures. We also observe the well-known phenomenon of magnetic catalysis for a strong enough magnetic field. However, we note that if the effective coupling strength of the model decreases as a function of magnetic field, it can trigger inverse magnetic catalysis in a certain window of this functional dependence. Our model allows for the simultaneous onset of dynamical chiral symmetry breaking and confinement for each case. Qualitative as well as quantitative predictions of our simple but effective model are in reasonably satisfactory agreement with lattice results and other reliable and refined predictions based upon intricate continuum studies of quantum chromodynamics.

$Φ$ and $J/Ψ$ Mesons in Cold Nuclear Matter

We present $Φ$- and $J/Ψ$--nuclear bound state energies and absorption widths for some selected nuclei, using potentials in the local density approximation computed from an effective Lagrangian approach combined with the quark-meson coupling model. Our results suggest that these mesons should form bound states with all the nuclei considered provided that these mesons are produced in nearly recoilless kinematics.
