Homological conditions on locally gentle algebras

Gentle algebras are a class of special biserial algebras whose representation theory has been thoroughly described. In this paper, we consider the infinite dimensional generalizations of gentle algebras, referred to as locally gentle algebras. We give combinatorial descriptions of the center, prime spectrum, and homological dimensions of a locally gentle algebra, including an explicit injective resolution. We classify when these algebras are Artin-Schelter Gorenstein, Artin-Schelter regular, and Cohen-Macaulay, and provide an analogue of Stanley's theorem for locally gentle algebras.

The self-assembly behavior of a diblock copolymer/homopolymer induced by Janus nanorods

We employ cell dynamics simulation based on the CH/BD model to investigate the self-assembly behavior of a mixed system consisting of diblock copolymers (AB), homopolymers (C), and Janus nanorods. The results indicate that, at different component ratios, the mixed system undergoes various phase transitions with an increasing number of nanorods. Specifically, when the homopolymer component is 0.40, the mixed system transitions from a disordered structure to a parallel lamellar structure, subsequently to a tilted layered structure, and ultimately to a perpendicular lamellar structure as the number of nanorods increases. To explore this phenomenon in greater depth, we conduct a comprehensive analysis of domain sizes and pattern evolution. Additionally, we investigate the effects of the repulsive interaction strength between polymers, wetting strength, length of nanorods, and degree of asymmetry on the self-assembly behavior of the mixed system. This research provides significant theoretical and experimental insights for the preparation of novel nanomaterials.

Codimension sequence, grade, and generating degree: an operadic approach

We study several classes of operadic ideals of the unital associative algebra operad $\uas$. As an application, we classify quotient operads of $\uas$ of GK-dimension $\leq 6$. This corresponds to a classification of all T-ideals of codimension growth $n^g$ with $g\leq 5$ (or equivalently, varieties of grade $g$ with $g\leq 5$).

Ideals of the associative algebra operad

We prove a one-to-one correspondence between the operadic ideals of the operad $\As$ and $T$-ideals. As a consequence, we show that $\As$ is noetherian and that every proper operadic ideal of $\ias$ is generated by a single element.

Frobenius-Perron theory for projective schemes

The Frobenius-Perron theory of an endofunctor of a $\Bbbk$-linear category (recently introduced in [CG]) provides new invariants for abelian and triangulated categories. Here we study Frobenius-Perron type invariants for derived categories of commutative and noncommutative projective schemes. In particular, we calculate the Frobenius-Perron dimension for domestic and tubular weighted projective lines, define Frobenius-Perron generalizations of Calabi-Yau and Kodaira dimensions, and provide examples. We apply this theory to the derived categories associated to certain Artin-Schelter regular and finite-dimensional algebras.

Two Portions of Sagittarius Stream in the LAMOST Complete Spectroscopic Survey of Pointing Area at Southern Galactic Cap

We constructed a sample of 13,798 stars with $T\rm_{eff}$, log $g$, [Fe/H], radial velocity, proper motions and parallaxes from LAMOST DR5 and Gaia DR2 in the LAMOST Complete Spectroscopic Survey of Pointing Area (LaCoSSPAr) at the Southern Galactic Cap consisting of areas A and B. Using the distributions in both proper motions and radial velocity, we detected very significant overdensities in these two areas. These substructures most likely are portions of Sagittarius (Sgr) stream. With the Density-Based Spatial Clustering of Applications with Noise (DBSCAN) algorithm, 220 candidates stream members were identified. Based upon distance to the Sun and published models, 106 of these stars are likely to be the members of the Sgr stream. The abundance pattern of these members using [$α$/Fe] from Xiang et al. were found to be similar to Galactic field stars with [Fe/H] $<$ -1.5 and deficient to Milky Way populations at similar metallicities with [Fe/H] $>$ -1.0. No vertical and only small radial gradients in metallicity along the orbit of Sgr stream were found in our Sgr stream candidates.

Spectroscopic Monitoring of Blazar S5 0716+714: Brightness-Dependent Spectral Behavior

In this paper, we report the new results of spectroscopic observations of $γ$-ray blazar S5 0716+714 from 2019 September to 2020 March with the 2.4 m optical telescope at Lijiang Observatory of Yunnan Observatories. The median cadence of observations is $\sim$ 1 day. During the second observation period (Epoch2), the observational data reveal an extremely bright state and a bluer-when-brighter (BWB) chromatism. The BWB trend of Epoch2 differs significantly from that of the first observation period (Epoch1). A significantly brightness-dependent BWB chromatism emerges in the total data of Epoch1 and Epoch2. The BWB trend becomes weaker towards the brighter states, and likely becomes saturated at the highest state. Based on a log-parabolic function, a power-law of synchrotron peak flux and frequency $ν_{\rm{p}}$, and a power-law of the curvature of synchrotron spectrum and its $ν_{\rm{p}}$, simulation well reproduces the brightness-dependent BWB trend of S5 0716+714. The BWB trend is seemingly controlled by the shift of $ν_{\rm{p}}$ with respect to the observational window, and effectively may be dominated by the variations of electron average energy and magnetic field in emitting region.

SN 2018hti: a nearby superluminous supernova discovered in a metal-poor galaxy

SN 2018hti is a Type I superluminous supernova (SLSN~I) with an absolute $g$-band magnitude of $-22.2$ at maximum brightness, discovered in a metal-poor galaxy at a redshift of 0.0612. We present extensive photometric and spectroscopic observations of this supernova, covering the phases from $\sim -35$ days to more than +340 days from the $r$-band maximum. Combining our $BVgri$-band photometry with {\it Swift} UVOT optical/ultraviolet photometry, we calculated the peak luminosity as $\sim 3.5\times10^{44}$ erg s$^{-1}$. Modeling the observed light curve reveals that the luminosity evolution of SN 2018hti can be produced by an ejecta mass of 5.8 $M_\odot$ and a magnetar with a magnetic field of $B=1.8\times10^{13}$~G having an initial spin period of $P_0=1.8$ ms. Based on such a magnetar-powered scenario and a larger sample, a correlation between the spin of the magnetar and the kinetic energy of the ejecta can be inferred for most SLSNe~I, suggesting a self-consistent scenario. Like for other SLSNe~I, the host galaxy of SN 2018hti is found to be relatively faint ($M_{g} = -17.75$ mag) and of low metallicity ($Z=0.3~Z_\odot$), with a star-formation rate of 0.3 $M_\odot$ yr$^{-1}$. According to simulation results of single-star evolution, SN 2018hti could originate from a massive, metal-poor star with a zero-age main sequence (ZAMS) mass of 25--40 $M_\odot$, or from a less massive rotating star with $M_\mathrm{ZAMS} \approx 16$--25 $M_\odot$. For the case of a binary system, its progenitor could also be a star with $M_\mathrm{ZAMS} \gtrsim 25$ $M_\odot$.

Grandma: a network to coordinate them all

GRANDMA is an international project that coordinates telescope observations of transient sources with large localization uncertainties. Such sources include gravitational wave events, gamma-ray bursts and neutrino events. GRANDMA currently coordinates 25 telescopes (70 scientists), with the aim of optimizing the imaging strategy to maximize the probability of identifying an optical counterpart of a transient source. This paper describes the motivation for the project, organizational structure, methodology and initial results.

GRANDMA Observations of Advanced LIGO's and Advanced Virgo's Third Observational Campaign

GRANDMA is a network of 25 telescopes of different sizes, including both photometric and spectroscopic facilities. The network aims to coordinate follow-up observations of gravitational-wave candidate alerts, especially those with large localisation uncertainties, to reduce the delay between the initial detection and the optical confirmation. In this paper, we detail GRANDMA's observational performance during Advanced LIGO/Advanced Virgo Observing Run 3 (O3), focusing on the second part of O3; this includes summary statistics pertaining to coverage and possible astrophysical origin of the candidates. To do so, we quantify our observation efficiency in terms of delay between gravitational-wave candidate trigger time, observations, and the total coverage. Using an optimised and robust coordination system, GRANDMA followed-up about 90 % of the gravitational-wave candidate alerts, i.e. 49 out of 56 candidates. This led to coverage of over 9000 deg2 during O3. The delay between the gravitational-wave candidate trigger and the first observation was below 1.5 hour for 50 % of the alerts. We did not detect any electromagnetic counterparts to the gravitational-wave candidates during O3, likely due to the very large localisation areas (on average thousands of degrees squares) and relatively large distance of the candidates (above 200 Mpc for 60 % of BNS candidates). We derive constraints on potential kilonova properties for two potential binary neutron star coalescences (GW190425 and S200213t), assuming that the events' locations were imaged.

Zero field splitting of heavy-hole states in quantum dots

Using inelastic cotunneling spectroscopy, we observe a 55μeV zero field splitting in the spin triplet manifold of Ge hut wire quantum dots. The degeneracy of the heavy hole triplet state is lifted since the interplay of strong spin orbit coupling and strong confinement leads to a preferred direction of the heavy-hole pseudospin. The reported effect should be observable in a broad class of strongly confined hole quantum-dot systems and needs to be considered when operating hole spin qubits.

The first six months of the Advanced LIGO's and Advanced Virgo's third observing run with GRANDMA

We present the Global Rapid Advanced Network Devoted to the Multi-messenger Addicts (GRANDMA). The network consists of 21 telescopes with both photometric and spectroscopic facilities. They are connected together thanks to a dedicated infrastructure. The network aims at coordinating the observations of large sky position estimates of transient events to enhance their follow-up and reduce the delay between the initial detection and the optical confirmation. The GRANDMA program mainly focuses on follow-up of gravitational-wave alerts to find and characterise the electromagnetic counterpart during the third observational campaign of the Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo detectors. But it allows for any follow-up of transient alerts involving neutrinos or gamma-ray bursts, even with poor spatial localisation. We present the different facilities, tools, and methods we developed for this network, and show its efficiency using observations of LIGO/Virgo S190425z, a binary neutron star merger candidate. We furthermore report on all GRANDMA follow-up observations performed during the first six months of the LIGO-Virgo observational campaign, and we derive constraints on the kilonova properties assuming that the events' locations were imaged by our telescopes.

Noncommutative quasi-resolutions

The notion of a noncommutative quasi-resolution is introduced for a noncommutative noetherian algebra with singularities, even for a non-Cohen-Macaulay algebra. If A is a commutative normal Gorenstein domain, then anoncommutative quasi-resolution of A naturally produces a noncommutative crepant resolution (NCCR) of A in the sense of Van den Bergh, and vice versa. Under some mild hypotheses, we prove that (i) in dimension two, all noncommutative quasi-resolutions of a given non-commutative algebra are Morita equivalent, and (ii) in dimension three, all noncommutative quasi-resolutions of a given non-commutative algebra are derived equivalent. These assertions generalize important results of Van den Bergh, Iyama-Reiten and Iyama-Wemyss in the commutative and central-finite cases.
