Small-x analysis on the effect of gluon recombinations inside hadrons in light of the GLR-MQ-ZRS equation

We present a study of the contribution of antishadowing effects on the gluon distribution functions $G(x,Q^2)$ in light of the Gribov-Levin-Ryskin-Mueller-Qiu, Zhu-Ruan-Shen (GLR-MQ-ZRS) nonlinear equation at small-$x$, where $x$ is the momentum fraction or Bjorken variable and $Q^2$ is the four momentum transfer squared or photon virtuality. In this work, we have solved the GLR-MQ-ZRS nonlinear equation using Regge like the behavior of gluons in the kinematic range of $10^{-2}\leq x \leq 10^{-6}$ and $5\,GeV^2\, \leq Q^2\leq 100\, GeV^2$ respectively. We have obtained the solution of $G(x,Q^2)$ by considering two particular cases: (a) $α_s$ fixed; and (b) the leading order QCD dependency of $α_{s}$ on $Q^2$. A comparative analysis is also performed where we compare the gluon distribution function due to inclusion of the antishadowing effect with that of the gluon distribution without including the antishadowing effect. Our obtained results of $G(x,Q^2)$ are compared with NNPDF3.0, CT14 and PDF4LHC. We also compare our results with the result obtained from the IMParton C++ package. Using the solutions of $G(x,Q^2)$, we have also predicted $x$ and $Q^2$ evolution of the logarithmic derivative of proton's $F_2$ structure function i.e. $dF_2 (x,Q^2)/d\ln Q^2$. We incorporated both the leading order(LO) and next-to-leading order (NLO) QCD contributions of the gluon-quark splitting kernels, in $dF_2 (x,Q^2)/d\ln Q^2$. Our result of $dF_2 (x,Q^2)/d\ln Q^2$ agrees reasonably well with the experimental data recorded by HERA's H1 detector.

Small $x$ phenomenology on gluon evolution through BFKL equation in light of a constraint in multi-Regge kinematics

We investigate the impact of so called kinematic constraint on gluon evolution at small $x$. Implanting the constraint on the real emission term of gluon ladder diagram, we obtain an integro-differential form of BFKL equation. Later we solve the equation analytically using the method of characteristics. We sketch the Bjorken x and transverse momentum $k_t^2$ dependence of our solution of unintegrated gluon distributions $f(x,k_t^2)$ in kinematic constraint supplemented BFKL equation and contrasted the same with original BFKL equation. Then we extract the collinear gluon density $xg(x,Q^2)$ from unintegrated gluon distributions $f(x,k_t^2)$ and compared our theoretical prediction with that of global data fits viz. NNPDF3.1sx and CT14. Finally we assess the sensitivity of $f(x,k_t^2)$ towards BFKL intercept $λ$ for three canonical choices of $λ$ viz. o.4, 0.5 and 0.6.

Studies on gluon evolution and geometrical scaling in kinematic constrained unitarized BFKL equation: application to high-precision HERA DIS data

We suggest a modified form of a unitarized BFKL equation imposing the so-called kinematic constraint on the gluon evolution in multi-Regge kinematics. The underlying nonlinear effects on the gluon evolution are investigated by solving the unitarized BFKL equation analytically. We obtain an equation of the critical boundary between dilute and dense partonic system, following a new differential geometric approach and sketch a phenomenological insight on geometrical scaling. Later we illustrate the phenomenological implication of our solution for unintegrated gluon distribution $f(x,k_T^2)$ towards exploring high precision HERA DIS data by theoretical prediction of proton structure functions ($F_2$ and $F_L$) as well as double differential reduced cross section $(σ_r)$. The validity of our theory in the low $Q^2$ transition region is established by studying virtual photon-proton cross section in light of HERA data.

Hadron production in d-Au, p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions at RHIC and LHC: onset of color glass condensate in light of an analytical solution of BK equation

An exact analytical solution to the Balitsky-Kovchegov equation is proposed incorporating Mellin transformation with saddle point approximation. The theoretical significance of this solution is its simplicity in form which requires very less number of parameters. Using this solution along with the idea of color glass condensate, a very good description of RHIC and LHC data on differential yield is obtained for d-Au, p-p and p-Pb collisions. Quantitative prediction for the nuclear modification factors for p-Pb, Pb-Pb and Xe-Xe collisions relevant for very recent LHC run 2 is yielded.

On phenomenological study of the solution of nonlinear GLR-MQ evolution equation beyond leading order

We present a phenomenological study of the small-x behaviour of gluon distribution function $G(x,Q^2)$ at next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order(NNLO) in light of the nonlinear Gribov-Ryskin-Levin-Mueller-Qiu (GLR-MQ)evolution equation by keeping the transverse size of the gluons ($\sim 1/Q$) fixed. We consider the NLO and NNLO corrections, of the gluon-gluon spitting function $P_{gg} (z)$ and strong coupling constant $α_s (Q^2)$. We have suggested semi-analytical solutions based on Regge like ansatz of gluon density $G(x,Q^2)$, which are supposed to be valid in the moderate range of photon virtuality$(Q^2)$ and at small Bjorken variable$(x)$. The study of the effects of nonlinearities that arise due to gluon recombination effects at small-x is very interesting, which eventually tames down the unusual growth of gluon densities towards small-x as predicted by the linear DGLAP evolution equation.

The NNLO QCD analysis of gluon distribution function at small-x

A next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) QCD calculation of gluon distribution function at small-x is presented. The gluon distribution function is explored analytically in the DGLAP approach by a Taylor expansion at small x as two first order partial differential equations in two variables : Bjorken x and t (t = ln(Q2/Λ2) ). We have solved the system of equations at LO, NLO and NNLO respectively by the La- granges method. The resulting analytical expressions are compared with the available global PDF sets as well as with the results of the BDM model. We have further performed a \c{hi}2 test to check the com- patibility of our predictions and observed that our results can be consistently described in the context of perturbative QCD. A comparative analysis of the obtained results at LO, NLO and NNLO reveals that the NNLO approximation has a significant contribution to the gluon distribution function particularly in the small-x region.

NNLO solution of nonlinear GLR-MQ evolution equation to determine gluon distribution function using Regge like ansatz

In this work we have suggested a solution of the Gribov-Levin-Ryskin-Mueller-Qiu (GLR-MQ) nonlinear evolution equation at next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO). The range of $Q^2$ in which we have solved the GLR-MQ equation is Regge region of the range $5 GeV^2 \leq Q^2 \leq 25 GeV^2$ and so we have incorporated the Regge like behavior to obtain $Q^2$ evolution of gluon distribution function $G(x, Q^2)$. We have also checked the sensitivity of our results for different values of correlation radius (R) between two interacting gluons, viz. $R=2 GeV^{-1}$ and $R= 5 GeV^{-1}$ as well as for different values of Regge intercept $λ_G$. Our computed results are compared with those obtained by the most recent global DGLAP fits to the parton distribution functions viz. PDF4LHC15, NNPDF3.0, HERAPDF15, CT14 and ABM12.

Quantum Confinement Induced Shift in Energy Band Edges and Band Gap of Spherical Quantum Dot

We have proposed and validated an ansatz as effective potential for confining electron/hole within spherical quantum dot in order to understand quantum confinement and its consequences associated with energy states and band gap of Spherical Quantum Dot. Within effective mass approximation formalism, considering an ansatz incorporating a conjoined harmonic oscillator and coulomb interaction as the effective potential for confining an electron or a hole within a spherical quantum dot and by employing appropriate boundary conditions we have calculated the shifts in energy of minimum of conduction band(CBM) and maximum of valence band(VBM) with respect to size of spherical quantum dot. We have also determined the quantum confinement induced shift in band gap energy of spherical quantum dot. In order to verify our theoretical predictions as well as to validate our ansatz, we have performed phenomenological analysis in comparison with available experimental results for quantum dots made of CdSe and observe a very good agreement in this regard. Our experimentally consistent theoretical results also help in mapping the probability density of electron and hole inside spherical quantum dot. The consistency of our results with available experimental data signifies the capability as well as applicability of the ansatz for the effective confining potential to have reasonable information in the study of real nano-structured spherical systems.

Nonlinear effects in gluon distribution predicted by GLR-MQ evolution equation at next-to-leading order in LHC data

In this work we have solved the nonlinear GLR-MQ evolution equation upto next-to-leading order (NLO) by considering NLO terms of the gluon-gluon splitting functions and running coupling constant $α_s(Q^2)$. Here, we have incorporated a Regge-like behaviour of gluon distribution in order to obtain a solution of the GLR-MQ equation in the range of $5 GeV^2 \leq Q^2 \leq 25 GeV^2$. We have studied the $Q^2$ evolution of the gluon distribution function $G(x,Q^2)$ and its nonlinear effects at small-x. It can be observed from our analysis that the nonlinearities increase with decrease in the correlation radius R of two interacting gluons, as expected. We have compared our result of $G(x,Q^2)$ as $Q^2$ increases and x decreases, for two different values of R, viz. R= 2 $GeV^{-1}$ and 5 $GeV^{-1}$. We have also checked the sensitivity of the Regge intercept $λ_G$ on our results. We compare our computed results with those obtained by the global analysis to parton distribution functions (PDFs) by various collaborations where LHC data have been included viz. PDF4LHC15, NNPDF3.0, ABM12 and CT14. Besides we have also shown comparison of our results with HERA PDF data viz. HERAPDF15.

$xF_3(x,Q^2)$ Structure Function and Gross-Llewellyn Smith Sum Rule with Nuclear Effect and Higher Twist Correction

We present an analysis of the $xF_3(x,Q^2)$ structure function and Gross-Llewellyn Smith(GLS) sum rule taking into account the nuclear effects and higher twist correction. This analysis is based on the results presented in "N. M. Nath et al., Indian J Phys 90(1), 117 (2016)". The corrections due to nuclear effects predicted in several earlier analysis are incorporated to our results of $xF_3(x,Q^2)$ structure function and GLS sum rule for free nucleon, corrected upto next-next-to-leading order (NNLO) perturbative order and calculate the nuclear structure function as well as sum rule for nuclei. In addition, by means of a simple model we have extracted the higher twist contributions to the non-singlet structure function $xF_3(x,Q^2)$ and GLS sum rule in NNLO perturbative orders and then incorporated them to our results. Our NNLO results along with nuclear effect and higher twist corrections are observed to be compatible with corresponding experimental data and other phenomenological analysis.

Relationship between X-ray spectral index and X-ray Eddington ratio for Mrk 335 and Ark 564

We present a comprehensive flux resolved spectral analysis of the bright Narrow line Seyfert I AGNs, Mrk~335 and Ark~564 using observations by XMM-Newton satellite. The mean and the flux resolved spectra are fitted by an empirical model consisting of two Comptonization components, one for the low energy soft excess and the other for the high energy power-law. A broad Iron line and a couple of low energies edges are required to explain the spectra. For Mrk~335, the 0.3 - 10 keV luminosity relative to the Eddington value, L{$_{X}$}/L$_{Edd}$, varied from 0.002 to 0.06. The index variation can be empirically described as $Γ$ = 0.6 log$_{10}$ L{$_{X}$}/L$_{Edd}$ + 3.0 for $0.005 < L{_{X}}/L_{Edd} < 0.04$. At $ L_{X}/L_{Edd} \sim 0.04$ the spectral index changes and then continues to follow $Γ$ = 0.6 log$_{10}$ L$_{X}$/L$_{Edd}$ + 2.7, i.e. on a parallel track. We confirm that the result is independent of the specific spectral model used by fitting the data in the 3 - 10 keV band by only a power-law and an Iron line. For Ark~564, the index variation can be empirically described as $Γ$ = 0.2 log$_{10}$ L$_{X}$/L$_{Edd}$ + 2.7 with a significantly large scatter as compared to Mrk~335. Our results indicate that for Mrk~335, there may be accretion disk geometry changes which lead to different parallel tracks. These changes could be related to structural changes in the corona or enhanced reflection at high flux levels. There does not seem to be any homogeneous or universal relationship for the X-ray index and luminosity for different AGNs or even for the same AGN.

A Phenomenological Solution Small $x$ to the Longitudinal Structure Function Dynamical Behavior

In this paper, the evolutions of longitudinal proton structure function have been obtained at small-$x$ up to next-to-next-to-leading order using a hard Pomeron behavior. In our paper, evolutions of gluonic as well as heavy longitudinal structure functions have been obtained separately and the total contributions have been calculated. The total longitudinal structure functions have been compared with results of Donnachie-Landshoff (DL) model, Color Dipole (CD) model, $k_{T}$ factorization and H1 data.

Nonlinear GLR-MQ evolution equation and Q^2-evolution of gluon distribution function

In this paper we have solved the nonlinear Gribov-Levin-Ryskin-Mueller-Qiu (GLR-MQ) evolution equation for gluon distribution function G(x,Q^2) and studied the effects of the nonlinear GLR-MQ corrections to the Leading Order (LO) Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) evolution equations. Here we incorporate a Regge like behaviour of gluon distribution function to obtain the solution of GLR-MQ evolution equation. We have also investigated the Q^2-dependence of gluon distribution function from the solution of GLR-MQ evolution equation. Moreover it is interesting to observe from our results that nonlinearities increase with decreasing correlation radius (R) between two interacting gluons. Results also confirm that the steep behavior of gluon distribution function is observed at R=5 GeV^{-1}, whereas it is lowered at R=2 GeV^{-1} with decreasing x as Q^2 increases. In this work we have also checked the sensitivity of λ_G in our calculations. Our computed results are compared with those obtained by the global DGLAP fits to the parton distribution functions viz. GRV, MRST, MSTW and with the EHKQS model.

Evolution of singlet structure functions from DGLAP equation at next-to-next-to-leading order at small-x

A semi-numerical solution to Dokshitzer- Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi (DGLAP) evolution equations at leading order (LO), next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO) in the small-x limit is presented. Here we have used Taylor series expansion method to solve the evolution equations and, t- and x-evolutions of the singlet structure functions have been obtained with such solution. We have also calculated t- and x-evolutions of deuteron structure functions F_2^d, and the results are compared with the E665 data and NMC data. The results are also compared to those obtained by the fit to F_2^d produced by the NNPDF collaboration based on the NMC and BCDMS data.

A New Interpretation of Charge Based on Spinning Sphere Model of Electron

LEP experiments indicate that the charge of the electron is distributed over a small radius $\sim10^{-20} $m. By incorporating this information in spinning sphere model of electron we arrive at a new interpretation of charge as the Schwinger corrected or electromagnetic or magnetic self-energy mass. The charge-energy equivalence is also arrived at in this paper. Further it is predicted that particles with zero mass will not contain any charge.

In this paper the spin-dependent singlet and non-singlet structure functions have been obtained by solving Dokshitzer-Gribov-Lipatov-Altarelli-Parisi evolution equations in next-to-leading order in the small x limit. Here we have used Taylor series expansion and then the particular and unique solution to solve the evolution equations. We have also calculated t evolutions of deuteron, proton and neutron structure functions and the results are compared with the SLAC E-143 Collaboration data.
