Three-body forces from a classical nonlinear field

Forces in the systems of two opposite sign and three identical charges coupled to the dynamical scalar field of the signum-Gordon model are investigated. Three-body force is present, and the exact formula for it is found. Flipping the sign of one of the two charges changes not only the sign but also the magnitude of the force. Both effects are due to nonlinearity of the field equation.

Total screening and finite range forces from ultra-massive scalar fields

Force between static point particles coupled to a classical ultra-massive scalar field is calculated. The field potential is proportional to the modulus of the field. It turns out that the force exactly vanishes when the distance between the particles exceeds certain finite value. Moreover, each isolated particle is surrounded by a compact cloud of the scalar field that completely screens its scalar charge.

Note on scale invariance and self-similar evolution in (3+1)-dimensional signum-Gordon model

Several classes of self-similar, spherically symmetric solutions of relativistic wave equation with nonlinear term of the form sign(ϕ) are presented. They are constructed from cubic polynomials in the scale invariant variable t/r. One class of solutions describes a process of wiping out the initial field, another an accumulation of field energy in a finite and growing region of space.

Spinning Q-balls in the complex signum-Gordon model

Rotational excitations of compact Q-balls in the complex signum-Gordon model in 2+1 dimensions are investigated. We find that almost all such spinning Q-balls have the form of a ring of strictly finite width. In the limit of large angular momentum M_z their energy is proportional to |M_z|^(1/5).

The vortex oscillations in Abelian Higgs model

The excitations of the vortex in Abelian Higgs model with small ratio of vector and Higgs particle masses are considered. Three main modes encountered in numerical computations are described in detail. They are also compared to analytic results obtained recently by Arodz and Hadasz.

Numerical Domain Wall Type Solutions in phi**4 Theory

The well known domain wall type solutions are nowadays of great physical interest in classical field theory. These solutions can mostly be found only approximately. Recently the Hilbert-Chapman-Enskog method was succesfully applied to obtain this type solutions in phi**4 theory. The goal of the present paper is to verify these perturbative results by numerical computations.

Nambu-Goto string action with Gauss-Bonnet term

We examine the relativistic Nambu-Goto model with Gauss-Bonnet boundary term added to the action integral. The system is analysed using an invariant representation of dynamical string degrees of freedom by complex Liouville fields. The solutions of classical equations of motion for open strings are described.
