Phase space deformations in SUSY cosmology

In this paper we propose a SUSY generalization for deformed phase-space cosmology. In particular, scalar field and phantom cosmology are studied. We construct the supercharges of the models and the SUSY Wheeler-DeWitt equation. We also construct and derive the classical dynamics using the WKB approximation.

A class of Meijer's G functions and further representations of the generalized hypergeometric functions

In this paper we investigate the Meijer's $G$ function $G^{p,1}_{p+1,p+1}$ which for certain parameter values represents the Riemann-Liouville fractional integral of Meijer-Nørlund function $G^{p,0}_{p,p}$. Our results for $G^{p,1}_{p+1,p+1}$ include: a regularization formula for overlapping poles, a connection formula with the Meijer-Nørlund function, asymptotic formulas around the origin and unity, formulas for the moments, a hypergeometric transform and a sign stabilization theorem for growing parameters. We further employ the properties of $G^{p,1}_{p+1,p+1}$ to calculate the Hadamard finite part of an integral containing the Meijer-Nørlund function that is singular at unity. In the ultimate section, we define an alternative regularization for such integral better suited for representing the Bessel type generalized hypergeometric function ${}_{p-1}F_{p}$. A particular case of this regularization is then used to identify some new facts about the positivity and reality of the zeros of this function.

Thermodynamic geometry for a non-extensive ideal gas

A generalized entropy arising in the context of superstatistics is obtained for an ideal gas. The curvature scalar associated to the thermodynamic space generated by this modified entropy is calculated using two formalisms of the geometric approach to thermodynamics. Using the curvature/interaction hypothesis of the geometric approach to thermodynamic geometry it is found that as a consequence of considering a generalized statistics, an effective interaction arises but the interaction is not enough to give a phase transition. This generalized entropy seems to be relevant in confinement or in systems with not so many degrees of freedom, so it could be interesting to use such entropies to characterize the thermodynamics of small systems.

Representations of hypergeometric functions for arbitrary parameter values and their use

Integral representations of hypergeometric functions proved to be a very useful tool for studying their properties. The purpose of this paper is twofold. First, we extend the known representations to arbitrary values of the parameters and show that the extended representations can be interpreted as examples of regularizations of integrals containing Meijer's $G$ function. Second, we give new applications of both, known and extended representations. These include: inverse factorial series expansion for the Gauss type function, new information about zeros of the Bessel and Kummer type functions, connection with radial positive definite functions and generalizations of Luke's inequalities for the Kummer and Gauss type functions.

Statistical modeling of the fluid dual to Boulware-Deser Black hole

In this work we study the statistical and thermodynamic properties of the horizon fluid corresponding to the Boulware-Deser (BD) black hole of Einstein-Gauss-Bonnet (EGB) gravity. Using mean field theory, we show explicitly that the BD fluid exhibits the coexistence of two phases, a BEC and a non-condensed phase corresponding to the Einstein term and the Gauss-Bonnet term in the gravity action, respectively. In the fluid description, the high-energy corrections associated to Gauss-Bonnet gravity are modeled as excitations of the fluid medium. We provide statistical modeling of the excited part of the fluid and explicitly show that it is characterized by a generalized dispersion relation which in $D=6$ dimensions corresponds to a non-relativistic fluid. We also shed light on the ambiguity found in the literature regarding the expression of the entropy of the horizon fluid. We provide a general prescription to obtain the entropy and show that it is indeed given by Wald entropy.

A general procedure to find ground state solutions for finite $N$ M(atrix) theory. Reduced models and SUSY quantum cosmology

We propose a general method to find exact ground state solutions to the SU($N$) invariant matrix model arising from the quantization of the 11-dimensional supermembrane action in the light-cone gauge. We illustrate the method by applying it to lower dimensional models and for the SU(2) group. This approach can be used to find ground state solutions to the complete 9-dimensional model and for any SU($N$) group. The supercharges and the constraints related to the SU(2) symmetry are the relevant operators and they generate a multicomponent wave function. In the procedure, the fermionic degrees of freedom are represented by means of Dirac-like gamma matrices. We exhibit a relation between these finite $N$ matrix theory ground state solutions and SUSY quantum cosmology wave functions giving a possible physical significance to the theory even for finite $N$

Toward Supergravity Spectral Action

A spectral action of Euclidean supergravity is proposed. We calculate up to $a_4$, the Seeley-Dewitt coefficients in the expansion of the spectral action associated to the supergravity Dirac operator. This is possible because in simple supergravity, as in pure gravity, a well defined and mathematically consistent Dirac operator can be constructed.

Some remarks on high derivative quantum gravity

We analyze the perturbative implications of the most general high derivative approach to quantum gravity based on a diffeomorphism invariant local action. In particular, we consider the super-renormalizable case with a large number of metric derivatives in the action. The structure of ultraviolet divergences is analyzed in some detail. We show that they are independent of the gauge fixing condition and the choice of field reparametrization. The cosmological counterterm is shown to vanish under certain parameter conditions. We elaborate on the unitarity problem of high derivative approaches and the distribution of masses of unphysical ghosts. We also discuss the properties of the low energy regime and explore the possibility of having a multi-scale gravity with different scaling regimes compatible with Einstein gravity at low energies. Finally, we show that the ultraviolet scaling of matter theories is not affected by the quantum corrections of high derivative gravity. As a consequence, asymptotic freedom is stable under those quantum gravity corrections.
