Les Houches 2017: Physics at TeV Colliders Standard Model Working Group Report

This Report summarizes the proceedings of the 2017 Les Houches workshop on Physics at TeV Colliders. Session 1 dealt with (I) new developments relevant for high precision Standard Model calculations, (II) theoretical uncertainties and dataset dependence of parton distribution functions, (III) new developments in jet substructure techniques, (IV) issues in the theoretical description of the production of Standard Model Higgs bosons and how to relate experimental measurements, (V) phenomenological studies essential for comparing LHC data from Run II with theoretical predictions and projections for future measurements, and (VI) new developments in Monte Carlo event generators.

Les Houches 2013: Physics at TeV Colliders: Standard Model Working Group Report

This Report summarizes the proceedings of the 2013 Les Houches workshop on Physics at TeV Colliders. Session 1 dealt primarily with (1) the techniques for calculating standard model multi-leg NLO and NNLO QCD and NLO EW cross sections and (2) the comparison of those cross sections with LHC data from Run 1, and projections for future measurements in Run 2.

The SM and NLO Multileg and SM MC Working Groups: Summary Report

The 2011 Les Houches workshop was the first to confront LHC data. In the two years since the previous workshop there have been significant advances in both soft and hard QCD, particularly in the areas of multi-leg NLO calculations, the inclusion of those NLO calculations into parton shower Monte Carlos, and the tuning of the non-perturbative parameters of those Monte Carlos. These proceedings describe the theoretical advances that have taken place, the impact of the early LHC data, and the areas for future development.

Measurement of CP Violation in Stop Cascade Decays at the LHC

We study the potential observation at the LHC of CP-violating effects in stop production and subsequent cascade decays, g g -> tilde{t}_i tilde{t}_i, tilde{t}_i -> t tilde{chi}^0_j, tilde{chi}^0_j -> tildeχ^0_1 l^+ l^-, within the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. We study T-odd asymmetries based on triple products between the different decay products. There may be a large CP asymmetry at the parton level, but there is a significant dilution at the hadronic level after integrating over the parton distribution functions. Consequently, even for scenarios where large CP intrinsic asymmetries are expected, the measurable asymmetry is rather small. High luminosity and precise measurements of masses, branching ratios and CP asymmetries may enable measurements of the CP-violating parameters in cascade decays at the LHC.

Loop induced interference effects in Higgs Boson plus two jet production at the LHC

We calculate the order O(alpha^2 alpha_s^3) interference effect between the gluon fusion and weak boson fusion processes allowed at the one-loop level in Higgs boson plus 2 jet production at the LHC. The corresponding one-loop amplitudes, which have not been considered in the literature so far, are evaluated analytically using dimensional regularisation and the necessary master integrals with massive propagators are reported. It is discussed in detail how various mechanisms conspire to make this contribution numerically negligible for experimental studies at the LHC.

Next-to-leading order multi-leg processes for the Large Hadron Collider

In this talk we discuss recent progress concerning precise predictions for the LHC. We give a status report of three applications of our method to deal with multi-leg one-loop amplitudes: The interference term of Higgs production by gluon- and weak boson fusion to order O(alpha^2 alpha_s^3) and the next-to-leading order corrections to the two processes pp -> ZZ jet and u ubar -> d dbar s sbar. The latter is a subprocess of the four jet cross section at the LHC.
