Testing gravity on large scales. The skewness of the galaxy distribution at z~1

We study the evolution of the low-order moments of the galaxy overdensity distribution over the redshift interval 0.7<z<1.5. We find that the variance and the normalized skewness evolve over this redshift interval in a way that is remarkably consistent with predictions of first- and second-order perturbation theory. This finding confirms the standard gravitational instability paradigm over nearly 9 Gyrs of cosmic time and demonstrates the importance of accounting for the non-linear component of galaxy biasing to avoid disagreement between theory and observations.

Summary of the SUSY Working Group of the 1999 Les Houches Workshop

The results obtained by the Working Group on Supersymmetry at the 1999 Les Houches Workshop on Collider Physics are summarized. Separate chapters treat "general" supersymmetry, R-parity violation, gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking, and anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking.

Single top production at the LHC as a probe of R parity violation

We investigate the potential of the LHC to probe the R parity violating couplings involving the third generation by considering single top production. This study is based on particle level event generation for both signal and background, interfaced to a simplified simulation of the ATLAS detector.

Contact Interactions with Polarized Beams at HERA

The discovery potential of the HERA collider, with and without polarized beams, for electron-quark contact interactions in neutral current scattering is reviewed. The measurement of spin asymmetries in the polarized case could give crucial information on the chiral structure of new interactions.

Search for quark compositeness with polarized beams at RHIC

Around 1999, thanks to the RHIC Spin Collaboration (RSC), the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) will be used as a polarized proton-proton collider. A new handed interaction between quark subconstituents, which could explain the excess of large E_T jet found by the CDF collaboration, could be at the origin of some small parity violating effects in one-jet inclusive production. Using spin asymmetries it is possible, at RHIC, to disentangle this new effect from the Standard Model prediction due to QCD-ElectroWeak interferences.

Spin asymmetries in one-jet production at RHIC with polarized proton beams : the effects of a hadrophilic Z'

We show that the measurement of some parity violating asymmetry in the production of a large ET jet could reveal the presence of a new hadrophilic Z' such as the one recently introduced to interpret possible departures from the Standard Model predictions both at LEP and at CDF. Such a measurement could be perform within a few years by the RHIC Spin Collaboration (RSC) using the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) as a polarized proton-proton collider.

Probing quark compositeness at hadronic colliders : the case of polarized beams

A new handed interaction between subconstituents of quarks could be at the origin of some small parity violating effects in one-jet inclusive production. Within a few years, the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) will be used as a polarized proton-proton collider. In this context, we analyse the possibilities of disentangling some new parity violating effects from the standard spin asymmetries which are expected due to the Standard Model QCD-Weak interference. We also explore the possibilities of placing some more stringent limits on the quark compositeness scale $Λ$ thanks to measurements of such spin asymmetries.
