MiroThinker-1.7 & H1: Towards Heavy-Duty Research Agents via Verification

We present MiroThinker-1.7, a new research agent designed for complex long-horizon reasoning tasks. Building on this foundation, we further introduce MiroThinker-H1, which extends the agent with heavy-duty reasoning capabilities for more reliable multi-step problem solving. In particular, MiroThinker-1.7 improves the reliability of each interaction step through an agentic mid-training stage that emphasizes structured planning, contextual reasoning, and tool interaction. This enables more effective multi-step interaction and sustained reasoning across complex tasks. MiroThinker-H1 further incorporates verification directly into the reasoning process at both local and global levels. Intermediate reasoning decisions can be evaluated and refined during inference, while the overall reasoning trajectory is audited to ensure that final answers are supported by coherent chains of evidence. Across benchmarks covering open-web research, scientific reasoning, and financial analysis, MiroThinker-H1 achieves state-of-the-art performance on deep research tasks while maintaining strong results on specialized domains. We also release MiroThinker-1.7 and MiroThinker-1.7-mini as open-source models, providing competitive research-agent capabilities with significantly improved efficiency.

Observation of Dipolar Spin-ice--like Correlations in the Quantum Spin Ice Candidate Ce$_2$Sn$_2$O$_7$

We report diffuse scattering measurements on the dipolar-octupolar pyrochlore, Ce$_2$Sn$_2$O$_7$, to elucidate its magnetic correlations within the correlated paramagnetic regime above its ordering temperature, $\mathrm{T_N}\sim 40~$mK. The magnetic transition at $\mathrm{T_N}$, observed in recent specific heat measurements, has been interpreted within the nearest-neighbor XYZ model as a transition into an all-in-all-out (AIAO) magnetic order. However, the observed diffuse scattering above $\mathrm{T_N}$ argues against an AIAO magnetic order by exhibiting $no$ short-range order at the AIAO wave-vectors, inconsistent with the nearest neighbor model. Instead, the observed diffuse scattering strongly resembles that observed in classical dipolar spin ice, Dy$_2$Ti$_2$O$_7$, and suggests the presence of short-range correlated structures such as chains, or clusters in the low energy manifold of Ce$_2$Sn$_2$O$_7$, favored by further neighbor interactions. We discuss how chain-like states qualitatively account for the observed H-T phase diagram under a [1,1,0]-field.

Dynamical tunneling of a Bose-Einstein condensate in periodically driven systems

We report measurements of dynamical tunneling rates of a Bose-Einstein condensate across a barrier in classical phase space. The atoms are initially prepared in quantum states that extend over a classically regular island region. We focus on the specific system of quantum accelerator modes of the kicked rotor in the presence of gravity. Our experimental data is supported by numerical simulations taking into account imperfections mainly from spontaneous emission. Furthermore, we predict experimentally accessible parameter ranges over which direct tunneling could be readily observed if spontaneous emission was further suppressed. Altogether, we provide a proof-of-principle for the experimental accessibility of dynamical tunneling rates in periodically driven systems.

A cold-atom ratchet interpolating between classical and quantum dynamics

We study the crossover between classical and quantum dynamics by observing the behavior of a quantum ratchet created by exposing a Bose-Einstein condensate to short pulses of a potential which is periodic in both space and time. Such a ratchet is manifested by a directed current of particles, even though there is an absence of a net bias force. We confirm that the ratchet behavior can under certain circumstances be the same in both regimes. We demonstrate that this behavior can be understood using a single variable containing many of the experimental parameters and thus the ratchet current is describable using a single universal scaling law.

Fidelity of the quantum delta-kicked accelerator

The sensitivity of the fidelity in the kicked rotor to an acceleration is experimentally and theoretically investigated. We used a Bose-Einstein condensate exposed to a sequence of pulses from a standing light wave followed by a single reversal pulse in which the standing wave was shifted by half a wavelength. The features of the fidelity "spectrum" as a function of acceleration are presented. This work may find application in the measurement of temperature of an atomic sample.

Controlling the Momentum Current of an Off-resonant Ratchet

We experimentally investigate the phenomenon of a quantum ratchet created by exposing a Bose-Einstein Condensate to short pulses of a potential which is periodic in both space and time. Such a ratchet is manifested by a directed current of particles, even though there is an absence of a net bias force. We confirm a recent theoretical prediction [M. Sadgrove and S. Wimberger, New J. Phys. \textbf{11}, 083027 (2009)] that the current direction can be controlled by experimental parameters which leave the underlying symmetries of the system unchanged. We demonstrate that this behavior can be understood using a single variable containing many of the experimental parameters and thus the ratchet current is describable using a single universal scaling law.
