Parton Distributions of Gluons in Different Representations

It has been questioned if gluon distributions defined in different representations of $SU(N)$ are the same. The question has arisen in the connection to the recently proposed resolution of the so-called axial gauge puzzle. We give a proof that gluon distributions defined in the fundamental- and adjoint representation, where gauge links consist of those which are all future-pointing or all past-pointing, are same. These gauge links are needed to make the distributions gauge invariant. When these links consist of not only future-pointing gauge links but also past-pointing ones, then the puzzle appears. We examine the puzzle for distributions at one-loop in the cases with gauge links along time-like-, space-like- and light-cone direction.

Twist-3 Contributions in Semi-Inclusive DIS in the Target Fragmentation Region

We present the complete results up to twist-3 for hadron production in the target fragmentation region of semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering with a polarized lepton beam and polarized nucleon target. The nonperturbative effects are factorized into fracture functions. The calculation up to twist-3 is nontrivial since one has to keep gauge invariance. By applying collinear expansion, we show that the hadronic tensor can be expressed by gauge-invariant fracture functions. We also present the results for the structure functions and azimuthal asymmetries.

QCD Factorization of Quasi Generalized Gluon Distributions

We study the factorization relations between quasi gluon GPDs and twist-2 GPDs. The perturbative coefficient functions are obtained at one-loop level. They are free from any collinear- or I.R. divergences. Unlike the case of the factorization of quasi quark GPDs at one-loop, we have to add ghost contributions for the factorization of quasi gluon GPDs in order to obtain gauge-invariant results. In general, operators will be mixed beyond tree-level. Our work shows that the mixing pattern of the nonlocal operators in quasi gluon GPDs is the same as local operators, i.e., the nonlocal operators considered are mixed with gauge-invariant operators, BRST-variation operators and operators involving EOM operator. The factorization relations are obtained for all quasi gluon GPDs. Taking the forward limit, we also obtain the relations between quasi gluon PDFs and twist-2 PDFs.

Testing of $P$ and $CP$ Symmetries with $e^+e^- \to J/ψ\to Λ\bar Λ$

We propose to test $P$- and $CP$-symmetries with the process $e^+e^- \to J/ψ\to Λ\bar Λ$. The general form of the angular distribution of the process is derived and several observables for the proposed test are introduced. With these observables one can distinguish the effects of $P$-violations in the production of $J/ψ$ from its decay into a pair of $Λ\bar Λ$. Numerical estimations for proposed asymmetries of $P$-violation due to $Z$ exchange in SM are given. Our results show that BESIII has reached the sensitivity to probe these effects. At the proposed super-tau-charm factory with much enhanced luminosity it will be able to test the SM predictions with high precision. $CP$ violating effect in $J/ψ\to Λ\bar Λ$ can also be tested. In particular, BESIII data already reached the sensitivity to prove $CP$ violating effect due to current upper limit of electric dipole moment of $Λ$. At the proposed super-tau-charm factory the upper limit can be improved by an order of magnitude.

QCD Factorization of Quasi Generalized Quark Distributions

We study the factorization of quasi generalized quark distributions with twist-2 generalized parton distributions. We use an approach which is different than that used in literature. Using the approach we derive the factorization relations of all quasi generalized quark distributions at one-loop. The contributions from twist-2 generalized gluon distributions are included. Our results apply not only to the quasi distributions of a spin-1/2 hadron but also to those of a hadron with any spin.

Matching of Fracture Functions for SIDIS in Target Fragmentation Region

In the target fragmentation region of Semi-Inclusive Deep Inelastic Scattering, the diffractively produced hadron has small transverse momentum. If it is at order of $Λ_{QCD}$, it prevents to make predictions with the standard collinear factorization. However, in this case, differential cross-sections can be predicted by the factorization with fracture functions, diffractive parton distributions. If the transverse momentum is much larger than $Λ_{QCD}$ but much smaller than $Q$ which is the virtuality of the virtual photon, both factorizations apply. In this case, fracture functions can be factorized with collinear parton distributions and fragmentation functions. We study the factorization up to twist-3 level and obtain gauge invariant results. They will be helpful for modeling fracture functions and useful for resummation of large logarithm of the transverse momentum appearing in collinear factorization.

Twist-3 Double Spin Asymmetries in Drell-Yan Processes

We study double spin asymmetries in Drell-Yan processes in which one initial hadron is transversely polarized and another one is longitudinally polarized. The complete part of the hadronic tensor relevant to asymmetries is derived. This part consists of twist-2 and twist-3 parton distributions and is gauge invariant. We construct some observables which can be used to extract these parton distributions from experimental measurements.

Parton Interpretation and Twist-4 Parton Distributions

Through explicit examples we show that twist-4 parton distributions have no parton interpretation in the sense that parton or partons inside a hadron can carry the momentum fraction $x$ of the hadron with $x >1$ or $x<-1$. The studied twist-4 parton distributions of collinear factoization are power-divergent for $\vert x\vert >1$. The corresponding transverse momentum dependent parton distributions have also no parton interpretation. They are finite. The implications of our results are discussed.

On the Singular Behavior of the Chirality-Odd Twist-3 Parton Distribution e(x)

The first moment the chirality-odd twist-3 parton distribution $e(x)$ is related to the pion-nucleon $σ$-term which is important for phenomenology. However, the possible existence of a singular contribution proportional to $δ(x)$ in the distribution prevents from the determination of the $σ$-term with $e(x)$ from experiment. There are two approaches to show the existence. The first one is based on an operator identity. The second one is based on a perturbative calculation of a single quark state with finite quark mass. We show that all contributions proportional to $δ(x)$ in the first approach are in fact cancelled. To the second approach we find that $e(x)$ of a multi-parton state with a massless quark has no contribution with $δ(x)$. Considering that a proton is essentially a multi-parton state, the effect of the contribution with $δ(x)$ is expected to be suppressed by light quark masses with arguments from perturbation theory. A detailed discussion about the difference between cut- and uncut diagrams of $e(x)$ is provided.

Fracture Functions in Different Kinematic Regions and Their Factorizations

Fracture functions are parton distributions of an initial hadron in the presence of an almost collinear particle observed in the final state. They are important ingredients in QCD factorization for processes where a particle is produced diffractively. There are different fracture functions for a process in different kinematic regions. We take the production of a lepton pair combined with a diffractively produced particle in hadron collisions to discuss this. Those fracture functions can be factorized further if there are large energy scales involved. They can be factorized with twist-2 parton distribution functions and fragmentation functions. We perform one-loop calculations to illustrate the factorization in the case with the diffractively produced particle as a real photon. Evolution equations of different fracture functions are derived from our explicit calculations. They agree with expectations. These equations can be used for re-summations of large log terms in perturbative expansions.

A Note on Pretzelosity TMD Parton Distribution

We show that the transverse-momentum-dependent parton distribution, called as Pretzelosity function, is zero at any order in perturbation theory of QCD for a single massless quark state. This implies that Pretzelosity function is not factorized with the collinear transversity parton distribution at twist-2, when the struck quark has a large transverse momentum. Pretzelosity function is in fact related to collinear parton distributions defined with twist-4 operators. In reality, Pretzelosity function of a hadron as a bound state of quarks and gluons is not zero. Through an explicit calculation of Pretzelosity function of a quark combined with a gluon nonzero result is found.

Gluon GPDs and Exclusive Photoproduction of a Quarkonium in Forward Region

Forward photoproduction of $J/ψ$ can be used to extract Generalized Parton Distributions(GPD's) of gluons. We analyze the process at twist-3 level and study relevant classifications of twist-3 gluon GPD's. At leading power or twist-2 level the produced $J/ψ$ is transversely polarized. We find that at twist-3 the produced $J/ψ$ is longitudinally polarized. Our study shows that in high energy limit the twist-3 amplitude is only suppressed by the inverse power of the heavy quark mass relatively to the twist-2 amplitude. This indicates that the power correction to the cross-section of unpolarized $J/ψ$ can have a sizeable effect. We have also derived the amplitude of the production of $h_c$ at twist-3, but the result contains end-point singularities. The production of other quarkonia has been briefly discussed.

One-Loop Corrections of Single Spin Asymmetries in Semi-Inclusive DIS

We study single spin asymmetries at one-loop accuracy in semi-inclusive DIS with a transversely polarized hadron in the initial state. Two measurable spin observables are predicted in the framework of QCD collinear factorization. One of the spin observables is the Sivers weighted asymmetry, another one is the Collins weighted asymmetry. The prediction takes a form of convolutions of perturbative coefficient functions and nonperturbative functions, which are twist-2 transversity distributions, twist-3 parton distributions, twist-2- and twist-3 parton fragmentation functions. These nonperturbative functions can be extracted from measurements of the spin observables and provide valuable information of the inner structure of hadrons. The measurements can be done in current COMPASS- and JLab experiments and in future experiments of EIC. The perturbative coefficient functions are calculated at one-loop level. There are collinear divergences in the calculation involving chirality-even- and chirality-odd twist operators. We find that all collinear divergences can be correctly subtracted so that the final results are finite.

Evolution of Chirality-odd Twist-3 Fragmentation Functions

We derive the complete set of evolutions of chirality-odd twist-3 fragmentation functions at one-loop level. There are totally nine real twist-3 fragmentation functions, among which seven are independent. The renormalization-scale dependence of the nine functions has an important implication for studies of single transverse-spin asymmetries. We find that the evolutions of the three complex fragmentation functions defined by quark-gluon-quark operator are mixed with themselves. There is no mixing with the fragmentation functions defined only with bilinear quark field operators. In the large-$N_c$ limit the evolutions of the three complex fragmentation functions are simplified and reduced to six homogenous equations.

Light-Cone Singularities and Transverse-Momentum-Dependent Factorization at Twist-3

We study transverse-momentum-dependent factorization at twist-3 for Drell-Yan processes. The factorization can be derived straightforwardly at leading order of $α_s$. But at this order we find that light-cone singularities already exist and effects of soft gluons are not correctly factorized. We regularize the singularities with gauge links off the light-cone and introduce a soft factor to factorize the effects of soft gluons. Interestingly, the soft factor must be included in the definition of subtracted TMD parton distributions to correctly factorize the effects of soft gluons. We derive the Collins-Soper equation for one of twist-3 TMD parton distributions. The equation can be useful for resummation of large logarithms terms appearing in the corresponding structure function in collinear factorization. However, the derived equation is nonhomogeneous. This will make the resummation complicated.

One-Loop Corrections of Single Spin Asymmetries at Twist-3 in Drell-Yan Processes

We study single spin asymmetries at one-loop accuracy in Drell-Yan processes in which one of the initial hadrons is transversely polarized. The spin-dependent part of differential cross-sections can be factorized with various hadronic matrix elements of twist-2 and twist-3 operators. These operators can be of even- and odd-chirality. In this work, the studied observables of asymmetries are differential cross-sections with different weights. These weights are selected so that the observables are spin-dependent and their virtual corrections are completely determined by quark form factor. In the calculations of one-loop corrections we meet collinear divergences in the contributions involving chirality-odd and chirality-even operators. We find that all of the divergences can be correctly subtracted. Therefore, our results give an explicit example of QCD factorization with twist-3 operators, especially, QCD factorization with chirality-odd twist-3 operators.

Twist-3 Contributions in Semi-Inclusive DIS with Transversely Polarized Target

We study semi-inclusive DIS with a transversely polarized target in the approach of collinear factorization. The effects related with the transverse polarization are at twist-3. We derive the complete result of twist-3 contributions to the relevant hadronic tensor at leading order of $α_s$, and construct correspondingly experimental observables. Measuring these observables will help to extract the twist-2 transversity distribution, twist-3 distributions and twist-3 fragmentation functions of the produced unpolarized hadron. A detailed comparison with the approach of transverse-momentum-dependent factorization is made.

QCD Factorization for Quarkonium Production in Hadron Collions at Low Transverse Momentum

Inclusive production of a quarkonium $η_{c,b}$ in hadron collisions at low transverse momentum can be used to extract various Transverse-Momentum-Dependent(TMD) gluon distributions of hadrons, provided the TMD factorization for the process holds. The factorization involving unpolarized TMD gluon distributions of unpolarized hadrons has been examined with on-shell gluons at one-loop level. In this work we study the factorization at one-loop level with diagram approach in the most general case, where all TMD gluon distributions at leading twist are involved. We find that the factorization holds and the perturbative effects are represented by one perturbative coefficient. Since the initial gluons from hadrons are off-shell in general, there exists the so-called super-leading region found recently. We find that the contributions from this region can come from individual diagrams at one-loop level, but they are cancelled in the sum. Our factorized result for the differential cross-section is explicitly gauge-invariant.
