Efficient Computational method using random matrices describing critical thermodynamics

Our research highlights the effectiveness of utilizing matrices akin to Wishart matrices, derived from magnetization time series data under specific dynamics, to elucidate phase transitions and critical phenomena in the Q-state Potts model. By employing appropriate statistical methods, we not only discern second-order transitions but also differentiate weaker first-order transitions through careful analysis of the density of eigenvalues and their fluctuations. Furthermore, we investigate the method's sensitivity to stronger first-order transition points. Importantly, we establish a robust correlation between the system's actual thermodynamics and the spectral thermodynamics encapsulated within the eigenvalues. Our findings are further substantiated by correlation histograms of the time series data, revealing insightful patterns. Expanding upon our core findings, we present a didactic analysis that draws parallels between the spectral properties of criticality in a spin system and matrices intentionally imbued with correlations (a toy model). Within this framework, we observe a universal behavior characterized by the distribution of eigenvalues into two distinct groups, separated by a gap dependent on the level of correlation, influenced by temperature-induced changes in the spin system.

Investigating the nonequilibrium aspects of long-range Potts model: refinement of critical temperatures and raw exponents

In this work, we analyse the $q-$state Potts model with long-range interactions through nonequilibrium scaling relations commonly used when studying short-range systems. We determine the critical temperature via an optimization method for short-time Monte Carlo simulations. The study takes into consideration two different boundary conditions and three different values of range parameters of the couplings. We also present estimates of some critical exponents, named as raw exponents for systems with long-range interactions, which confirm the non-universal character of the model. Finally, we provide some preliminary results addressing the relations between the raw exponents and the exponents obtained for systems with short-range interactions. The results assert that the methods employed in this work are suitable to study the considered model and can easily be adapted to other systems with long-range interactions.

A comparative study of the dynamic critical behavior of the four-state Potts like models

We investigate the short-time critical dynamics of the Baxter-Wu (BW) and $n=3$ Turban (3TU) models to estimate their global persistence exponent $θ_{g}$. We conclude that this new dynamical exponent can be useful in detecting differences between the critical behavior of these models which are very difficult to obtain in usual simulations. In addition, we estimate again the dynamical exponents of the four-state Potts (FSP) model in order to compare them with results previously obtained for the BW and 3TU models and to decide between two sets of estimates presented in the current literature. We also revisit the short-time dynamics of the 3TU model in order to check if, as already found for the FSP model, the anomalous dimension of the initial magnetization $x_{0}$ could be equal to zero.

Nonequilibrium scaling explorations on a 2D Z(5)-symmetric model

We have investigated the dynamic critical behavior of the two-dimensional Z(5)-symmetric spin model by using short-time Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. We have obtained estimates of some critical points in its rich phase diagram and included, among the usual critical lines the study of first-order (weak) transition by looking into the order-disorder phase transition. Besides, we also investigated the soft-disorder phase transition by considering empiric methods. A study of the behavior of $β/νz$ along the self-dual critical line has been performed and special attention has been devoted to the critical bifurcation point, or FZ (Fateev-Zamolodchikov) point. Firstly, by using a refinement method and taking into account simulations out-of-equilibrium, we were able to localize parameters of this point. In a second part of our study, we turned our attention to the behavior of the model at the early stage of its time evolution in order to find the dynamic critical exponent z as well as the static critical exponents $β$ and $% ν$ of the FZ-point on square lattices. The values of the static critical exponents and parameters are in good agreement with the exact results, and the dynamic critical exponent $z\approx 2.28$ very close of the 4-state Potts model ($z\approx 2.29$).

Global persistence exponent of the double-exchange model

We obtained the global persistence exponent $θ_g$ for a continuous spin model on the simple cubic lattice with double-exchange interaction by using two different methods. First, we estimated the exponent $θ_g$ by following the time evolution of probability $P(t)$ that the order parameter of the model does not change its sign up to time $t$ $[P(t)\thicksim t^{-θ_g}]$. Afterwards, that exponent was estimated through the scaling collapse of the universal function $L^{θ_g z} P(t)$ for different lattice sizes. Our results for both approaches are in very good agreement each other.

An alternative order parameter for the 4-state Potts model

We have investigated the dynamic critical behavior of the two-dimensional 4-state Potts model using an alternative order parameter first used by Vanderzande [J. Phys. A: Math. Gen. \textbf{20}, L549 (1987)] in the study of the Z(5) model. We have estimated the global persistence exponent $θ_g$ by following the time evolution of the probability $P(t)$ that the considered order parameter does not change its sign up to time $t$. We have also obtained the critical exponents $θ$, $z$, $ν$, and $β$ using this alternative definition of the order parameter and our results are in complete agreement with available values found in literature.

Short-time behavior of a classical ferromagnet with double-exchange interaction

We investigate the critical dynamics of a classical ferromagnet on the simple cubic lattice with double-exchange interaction. Estimates for the dynamic critical exponents $z$ and $θ$ are obtained using short-time Monte Carlo simulations. We also estimate the static critical exponents $ν$ and $β$ studying the behavior of the samples at an early time. Our results are in good agreement with available estimates and support the assertion that this model and the classical Heisenberg model belong to the same universality class.

Critical dynamics of the Potts model: short-time Monte Carlo simulations

We calculate the new dinamic exponent $θ$ of the 4-state Potts model, using short-time simulations. Our estimates $θ_{1}=-0.0471(33)$ and $% θ_{2}=$ $-0.0429(11)$ obtained by following the behavior of the magnetization or measuring the evolution of the time correlation function of the magnetization corroborate the conjecture by Okano et. al. In addition, these values agree with previous estimate of the same dynamic exponent for the two-dimensional Ising model with three-spin interactions in one direction, that is known to belong to the same universality class as the 4-state Potts model. The anomalous dimension of initial magnetization $% x_{0}=zθ+β/ν$ is calculated by an alternative way that mixes two different initial conditions. We have also estimated the values of the static exponents $β$ and $ν$. They are in complete agreement with the pertinent results of the literature.

Revisiting the critical behavior of nonequilibrium models in Short-time Monte Carlo Simulations

We analyze two alternative methods for determining the exponent $z$ of the contact process (CP) and Domany-Kinzel (DK) cellular automaton in Monte Carlo Simulations. One method employs mixed initial conditions, as proposed for magnetic models [Phys. Lett. A. \textbf{298}, 325 (2002)]; the other is based on the growth of the moment ratio $m(t)=< ρ^{2}(t)> /< ρ(t)> ^{2}$ starting with all sites occupied. The methods provide reliable estimates for $z$ using the short time dynamics of the process. Estimates of $ν_{||}$ are obtained using a method suggested by Grassberger.

Stochastic dynamics of coupled systems and spreading of damage

We study the spreading of damage in the one-dimensional Ising model by means of the stochastic dynamics resulting from coupling the system and its replica by a family of algorithms that interpolate between the heat bath and the Hinrichsen-Domany algorithms. At high temperatures the dynamics is exactly mapped into de Domany-Kinzel probabilistic cellular automaton. Using a mean-field approximation and Monte Carlo simulations we find the critical line that separates the phase where the damage spreads and the one where it does not.

Short-time critical dynamics of the Baxter-Wu model

We study the early time behavior of the Baxter-Wu model, an Ising model with three-spin interactions on a triangular lattice. Our estimates for the dynamic exponent $z$ are compatible with results recently obtained for two models which belong to the same universality class of the Baxter-Wu model: the two-dimensional four-state Potts model and the Ising model with three-spin interactions in one direction. However, our estimates for the dynamic exponent $θ$ of the Baxter-Wu model are completely different from the values obtained for those models. This discrepancy could be related to the absence of a marginal operator in the Baxter-Wu model.

Global persistence exponent of the two-dimensional Blume-Capel model

The global persistence exponent $θ_g$ is calculated for the two-dimensional Blume-Capel model following a quench to the critical point from both disordered states and such with small initial magnetizations. Estimates are obtained for the nonequilibrium critical dynamics on the critical line and at the tricritical point. Ising-like universality is observed along the critical line and a different value $θ_g =1.080(4)$ is found at the tricritical point.

Short-Time Dynamics of an Ising Model with Competing Interactions

In this work the two-dimensional Ising model with nearest- and next-nearest-neighbor interactions is revisited. We obtain the dynamic critical exponents $z$ and $θ$ from short-time Monte Carlo simulations. The dynamic critical exponent $z$ was obtained from the time behavior of the ratio $F_2=< M^2>_{m_0=0}/< M>^2_{m_0=1}\sim t^{d/z}$, whereas the non-universal exponent $θ$ was estimated from the time correlation of the order parameter $ \sim t^θ$, where $M(t)$ is the order parameter at instant $t$, $d$ is the dimension of the system and $<(...)>$ is the average of the quantity $(...)$ over different samples. We have also obtained the static critical exponents $β$ and $ν$ by investigating the time behavior of the magnetization.

Universality and scaling study of the critical behavior of the two-dimensional Blume-Capel model in short-time dynamics

In this paper we study the short-time behavior of the Blume-Capel model at the tricritical point as well as along the second order critical line. Dynamic and static exponents are estimated by exploring scaling relations for the magnetization and its moments at early stage of the dynamic evolution. Our estimates for the dynamic exponents, at the tricritical point, are $z= 2.215(2)$ and $θ= -0.53(2)$.

Dynamic critical exponents of the Ising model with multispin interactions

We revisit the short-time dynamics of 2D Ising model with three spin interactions in one direction and estimate the critical exponents $z,$ $θ,$ $β$ and $ν$. Taking properly into account the symmetry of the Hamiltonian we obtain results completely different from those obtained by Wang et al.. For the dynamic exponent $z$ our result coincides with that of the 4-state Potts model in two dimensions. In addition, results for the static exponents $ν$ and $β$ agree with previous estimates obtained from finite size scaling combined with conformal invariance. Finally, for the new dynamic exponent $θ$ we find a negative and close to zero value, a result also expected for the 4-state Potts model according to Okano et al.

Partition function zeros and leading order scaling correction of the 3D Ising model from multicanonical simulations

The density of states for the three-dimensional Ising model is calculated with high-precision from multicanonical simulations. This allows us to estimate the leading partition function zeros for lattice sizes up to L=32. Combining previous statistics for smaller lattice sizes, we have evaluated the correction to scaling and the critical exponent $ν$ through out an analysis of a multi-parameter fit and of Bulirsch-Stoer (BST) extrapolation algorithm. The performance of the BST algorithm is also explored in case of the 2D Ising model, where the exact partition function zeros are known.

Nonuniversality in short-time critical dynamics

We study behaviour of dynamical critical exponents of the two-dimensional Ising model with a line of defects. Simulations done at an early time (first 100 Monte Carlo steps) reveal that the critical exponent of Janssen et al (Z. Phys. B 73 539) depends on the strength of the exchange coupling constant (J') of the altered line. On the other hand, our simulations permit us to conclude that the dynamical critical exponent z is not sensitive to changes in J'. In adition, we investigate the possible invariance of the anomalous dimension of the magnetization at the beginning of the process.
