Quasi-Hopf twistors for elliptic quantum groups

The Yang-Baxter equation admits two classes of elliptic solutions, the vertex type and the face type. On the basis of these solutions, two types of elliptic quantum groups have been introduced (Foda et al., Felder). Fronsdal made a penetrating observation that both of them are quasi-Hopf algebras, obtained by twisting the standard quantum affine algebra U_q(g). In this paper we present an explicit formula for the twistors in the form of an infinite product of the universal R matrix of U_q(g). We also prove the shifted cocycle condition for the twistors, thereby completing Fronsdal's findings. This construction entails that, for generic values of the deformation parameters, representation theory for U_q(g) carries over to the elliptic algebras, including such objects as evaluation modules, highest weight modules and vertex operators. In particular, we confirm the conjectures of Foda et al. concerning the elliptic algebra A_{q,p}(^sl_2).

Elliptic algebra U_{q,p}(^sl_2): Drinfeld currents and vertex operators

We investigate the structure of the elliptic algebra U_{q,p}(^sl_2) introduced earlier by one of the authors. Our construction is based on a new set of generating series in the quantum affine algebra U_q(^sl_2), which are elliptic analogs of the Drinfeld currents. They enable us to identify U_{q,p}(^sl_2) with the tensor product of U_q(^sl_2) and a Heisenberg algebra generated by P,Q with [Q,P]=1. In terms of these currents, we construct an L operator satisfying the dynamical RLL relation in the presence of the central element c. The vertex operators of Lukyanov and Pugai arise as `intertwiners' of U_{q,p}(^sl_2) for level one representation, in the sense to be elaborated on in the text. We also present vertex operators with higher level/spin in the free field representation.

Charge and current oscillations in Fractional quantum Hall systems with edges

Stationary solutions of the Chern-Simons effective field theory for the fractional quantum Hall systems with edges are presented for Hall bar, disk and annulus. In the infinitely long Hall bar geometry (non compact case), the charge density is shown to be monotonic inside the sample. In sharp contrast, spatial oscillatory modes of charge density are found for the two circular geometries, which indicate that in systems with compact geometry, charge and current exist also far from the edges.

Molecular conductors with two-chain orbitals

We investigate a theoretical model applicable to molecular conductors, such as TTP and $M(dmit)_2$ salts [M=Ni, Pd, Pt], whose charge carriers orig inate from two kinds of molecular orbitals. The model Hamiltonian consists of two independent Hubbard chains. The degree of charge transfer between the two chains is calculated. The results qualitatively agree with some experimental data.

Simple Exactly Solvable Models of non-Fermi Liquids

We generalize the model of Hatsugai and Kohmoto [J. Phys. Soc. Jpn, 61, 2056 (1992)] and find ground states which do not show the properties of Fermi liquids. We work in two space dimensions, but it is straightforward to generalize to higher dimensions. The ground state is highly degenerate and there is no discontinuity in the momentum distribution; i.e., there is no Fermi surface. The Green's function generically has a branch cut.

Virasoro-type Symmetries in Solvable Models

Virasoro-type symmetries and their roles in solvable models are reviewed. These symmetries are described by the two-parameter Virasoro-type algebra $Vir_{p,q}$ by choosing the parameters p and q suitably.

Thermal activation of exclusonic quasiparticles in the fractional quantum Hall effect

Quasiparticles of the fractional quantum Hall systems obey fractional (including mutual) exclusion statistics. In this note we study the effects of exclusion statistics on thermal activation of quasiparticle pairs in the approximation of generalized ideal gas. The distribution function for thermally activated quasiparticles is found explicitly for the statistics matrix given by the composite fermion picture and the thermodynamic consequences are discussed analytically. In particular, at low temperatures, there is a quasielectron-quasihole duality in the description of the system between two adjacent magic fillings $ν(m,p)\equiv m/(2pm+1)$ and $ν(m+1,p)$.

Quantum Deformation of the W_N Algebra

We review the W_N algebra and its quantum deformation, based on free field realizations. The (quantum deformed) W_N algebra is defined through the (quantum deformed) Miura transformation, and its singular vectors realize the Jack (Macdonald) polynomials. Vertex Operators of the $q$-Virasoro Algebra; Defining Relations, Adjoint Actions and Four Point Functions

Primary fields of the $q$-deformed Virasoro algebra are constructed. Commutation relations among the primary fields are studied. Adjoint actions of the deformed Virasoro current on the primary fields are represented by the shift operator $Θ_ξ f(x)=f(ξx)$. Four point functions of the primary fields enjoy the connection formula associated with the Boltzmann weights of the fusion Andrews-Baxter-Forrester model.

Superconducting correlation in the one-dimensional $t$-$J$ model with anisotropic spin interaction and broken parity

A variant of the one-dimensional $t$-$J$ model with anisotropic spin interaction and broken parity is studied by the nested algebraic Bethe-ansatz method. The gapless charge excitations and the gapful spin excitations are obtained. It is shown that the singlet-superconducting correlation dominates in the low-density region by applying the finite-size scaling analysis in the conformal field theory.

Excited States of Calogero-Sutherland Model and Singular Vectors of the $W_N$ Algebra

Using the collective field method, we find a relation between the Jack symmetric polynomials, which describe the excited states of the Calogero-Sutherland model, and the singular vectors of the $W_N$ algebra. Based on this relation, we obtain their integral representations. We also give a direct algebraic method which leads to the same result, and integral representations of the skew-Jack polynomials.

Collective fields, Calogero-Sutherland model and generalized matrix models

On the basis of the collective field method, we analyze the Calogero--Sutherland model (CSM) and the Selberg--Aomoto integral, which defines, in particular case, the partition function of the matrix models. Vertex operator realizations for some of the eigenstates (the Jack polynomials) of the CSM Hamiltonian are obtained. We derive Virasoro constraint for the generalized matrix models and indicate relations with the CSM operators. Similar results are presented for the $q$--deformed case (the Macdonald operator and polynomials), which gives the generating functional of infinitely many conserved charges in the CSM.

Free Boson Realization of $U_q(\widehat{sl_N})$

We construct a realization of the quantum affine algebra $U_q(\widehat{sl_N})$ of an arbitrary level $k$ in terms of free boson fields. In the $q\!\rightarrow\! 1$ limit this realization becomes the Wakimoto realization of $\widehat{sl_N}$. The screening currents and the vertex operators(primary fields) are also constructed; the former commutes with $U_q(\widehat{sl_N})$ modulo total difference, and the latter creates the $U_q(\widehat{sl_N})$ highest weight state from the vacuum state of the boson Fock space.

Free Boson Representation of $U_q(\widehat{sl}_3)$

A representation of the quantum affine algebra $U_{q}(\widehat{sl}_3)$ of an arbitrary level $k$ is constructed in the Fock module of eight boson fields. This realization reduces the Wakimoto representation in the $q \rightarrow 1$ limit. The analogues of the screening currents are also obtained. They commute with the action of $U_{q}(\widehat{sl}_3)$ modulo total differences of some fields.
