A Covariant Method for Calculating Helicity Amplitudes

We present an alternative approach for calculating helicity amplitudes for processes involving both massless and massive fermions. With this method one can easily obtain covariant expressions for the helicity amplitudes. The final expressions involve only four vector products and are independent of the basis for gamma matrices or specific form of the spinors. We use the method to obtain the helicity amplitudes for several processes involving top quark production.

Anomalous commutator corrections to sum rules

In this paper we consider the contributions of anomalous commutators to various QCD sum rules. Using a combination of the BJL limit with the operator product expansion the results are presented in terms of the vacuum condensates of gauge invariant operators. It is demonstrated that the anomalous contributions are no negligible and reconcile various apparently contradictory calculations.

Two Photon Processes and Effective Lagrangians with An Extended Scalar Sector

We consider the Standard Model with an extended scalar sector, and study the possible effects of the physics underlying such a model using an effective lagrangian parametrization. It is found that certain two photon processes offer windows where such heavy interactions might be glimpsed, but the realization of this expectation requires enormous experimental precision.

Patterns of Deviation from the Standard Model

Effective Lagrangians can be used to parametrize the effects of physics beyond the standard model. Assuming the complete theory is a gauge theory, we determine which effective operators may be generated at tree level, and which are only generated at loop level. The latter are be suppressed by factors of $1/ 16π^2$ and will therefore be quite difficult to detect. In particular, all operators changing the Standard-Model structure of the triple-gauge-vector couplings fall into this category. We also point out that in certain cases, dimension-eight operators may be more important than dimension-six operators. We discuss both the linear and non-linear representation of the Higgs sector.

Effective-Lagrangian approach to precision measurements: the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon

We investigate the use of effective Lagrangians to describe the effects on high-precision observables of physics beyond the Standard Model. Using the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon as an example, we detail the use of effective vertices in loop calculations. We then provide estimates of the sensitivity of new experiments measuring the muon's $ g - 2 $ to the scale of physics underlying the Standard Model.
