Linac: linear algebra with CUDA over finite fields

Solving linear systems of polynomial equations is a ubiquitous problem in both mathematics and physics. The standard approach, Gaussian elimination, scales cubically with system size and often constitutes a computational bottleneck. The algorithm's inherent parallelism makes it well-suited for modern computing architectures, namely graphics processing units (GPUs), which offer significantly higher throughput than CPUs. Additionally, the use of finite fields -- integers modulo a prime -- in place of floating-point arithmetic offers a scalable solution to the issue of numerical precision loss, which becomes increasingly problematic at large system sizes. With Linac, we present a high-performance, open-source, parallel implementation of Gaussian elimination over finite fields and floating-point arithmetic. This tool has been developed for applications to analytic reconstruction of scattering amplitudes in quantum field theory.

nuSTORM as a Precision Probe of the Standard Model and New Physics

The Neutrinos from Stored Muons (nuSTORM) facility will generate neutrino beams from both muon and meson decays in a storage ring, providing a neutrino flux known to the percent level. This unprecedented precision enables a rich physics programme, including high-precision tests of the Standard Model and searches for new phenomena. In this paper we demonstrate nuSTORM's sensitivity to key Standard Model processes such as, measurements of the weak mixing angle at low $Q^2$ and the rare process of neutrino trident production. We also show its powerful reach for a diverse range of beyond-the-Standard-Model scenarios, including eV-scale sterile neutrinos, Kaluza-Klein excitations from large extra dimensions and lepton flavour violation. Furthermore, nuSTORM can place significant constraints on heavy QCD axions and other axion-like particles produced in rare kaon decays. These capabilities establish nuSTORM as a powerful and complementary probe to long baseline experiments and collider searches.

Probing the Cosmic Neutrino Background and New Physics with TeV-Scale Astrophysical Neutrinos

We use recent evidence of TeV neutrino events from the most significant astrophysical sources detected by IceCube -- NGC 1068, TXS 0506+056, PKS 1424+240 -- to constrain the local and global overdensity of relic neutrinos and to explore potential new neutrino self-interactions. Assuming a relic neutrino overdensity, such high-energy neutrinos have travelled considerable distances through a sea of relic neutrinos and could have undergone scattering, altering their observed flux on Earth. Considering only Standard Model interactions, we constrain the relic overdensity to $\eta \leq 2 \times 10^{14}$ at the 90$\%$ confidence level, assuming the sum of neutrino masses saturates the cosmological bound, $\sum_i m_i = 0.13$ eV. We demonstrate that this limit improves for larger neutrino masses and study how it depends on the scale of the overdensity region. Considering new interactions between TeV-scale neutrinos and relic neutrinos, mediated by a light boson, we probe couplings of approximately $g \sim 10^{-2}$ with current data for a boson mass around the MeV scale. We demonstrate that this limit improves with larger neutrino masses and the scale of the overdensity region.

JUNO as a Probe of the Pseudo-Dirac Nature using Solar Neutrinos

It remains a possibility that neutrinos are pseudo-Dirac states, such that a generation is composed of two maximally mixed Majorana neutrinos separated by a very small mass difference. We explore the physics potential of the JUNO experiment in constraining this possibility using the measurement of solar neutrinos. In particular, we investigate cases where one or three sterile states are present in addition to the active states. We consider two scenarios: one where JUNO's energy threshold allows for the measurement of $pp$ solar neutrinos, and the case where JUNO can only measure $^7$Be neutrinos and above. We find that JUNO will be able to constrain pseudo-Dirac mass splittings of $δm^2 \gtrsim 2.9\times 10^{-13}~{\rm eV^2}$ for the scenario including $pp$ solar neutrinos, and $δm^2 \gtrsim 1.9\times 10^{-12}~{\rm eV^2}$ when the measurement only considers $^7$Be monochromatic neutrinos, at the $3σ$ C.L. Thus, including $pp$ neutrinos will be crucial for JUNO to improve current constraints on the pseudo-Dirac scenario from solar neutrinos.

MARVEL analysis of the measured high-resolution rovibrational spectra of C2H2

Rotation-vibration energy levels are determined for the electronic ground state of the acetylene molecule, $^{12}$C$_2$H$_2$, using the Measured Active Rotational-Vibrational Energy Levels (MARVEL) technique. 37,813 measured transitions from 61 publications are considered. The distinct components of the spectroscopic network linking ortho and para states are considered separately. The 20,717 ortho and 17,096 para transitions measured experimentally are used to determine 6013 ortho and 5200 para energy levels. The MARVEL results are compared with alternative compilations based on the use of effective Hamiltonians.
