A JEPA Recipe for Tabular Foundation Models

Tabular foundation models learn to predict cell values in context, whereas world-model self-supervision asks for prediction in representation space (LeCun, 2022; Assran et al., 2023). On a tabular foundation-model prior, the latent term of a joint-embedding predictive architecture (JEPA) collapsed in our earlier runs and took the encoder with it to a constant map. We report a recipe under which the latent term survives to convergence beside the value objective: the value head reads the encoder field rather than the predictor, and the target is an exponential moving average (EMA) difference. To bound its cost against the value-only arm, both arms train until a plateau rule stops them, with no fixed step budget. A fixed horizon had confounded a slowdown with a ceiling, since the value-only arm was still improving well past the usual budget. At convergence, in one run per arm, the JEPA arm trails the value-only arm across 147 real datasets, 32:70 wins to losses on classification (29:63 with one entry per dataset name) and 8:24 on regression, the margin small on classification and wider on regression, and the count leans the same way in each stratum and each benchmark. The JEPA arm (jepa) needs 1.42 times as many steps as the value-only arm (ds), and 1.66 times its wall-clock, to reach its plateau.

LLM-Guided Planning for Multi-hop Reasoning over Multimodal Nuclear Regulatory Documents

Reviewing nuclear regulatory documents requires multi-hop reasoning across tens of thousands of pages, where judgments depend on evidence assembled across multiple chapters. We frame this task as planning: an LLM-based agent observes the evidence collected so far, picks the next document fragment to inspect, and stops when the evidence is sufficient. The agent operates over a vectorless document tree using browse, read, and search tools, and maintains a dynamic knowledge graph (KG) as state. On a 200-question benchmark over NuScale Final Safety Analysis Report (FSAR) documents, the system reaches 81.5% accuracy with a RAGAS Faithfulness of 0.93. The dominant performance factor is planning: against PageIndex, which uses the same document tree without state-conditioned action selection, the gap is +38.0pp (43.5% to 81.5%, p<0.001). The system also outperforms LightRAG (73.0%, p<0.05), HippoRAG (70.5%, p<0.01), and GraphRAG (49.5%, p<0.001), and matches RAPTOR (75.5%, p=0.11) without offline indexing. Edge inference adds 2.8x cost without raising accuracy; we retain it as a traceability module. Of 7,391 inferred edges, 3 Violates edges (0.04%) flag scope boundaries (Q058) and partial conformance (Q176) as typed annotations that a human reviewer can audit.

Making a prototype of Seoul historical sites chatbot using Langchain

In this paper, we are going to share a draft of the development of a conversational agent created to disseminate information about historical sites located in the Seoul. The primary objective of the agent is to increase awareness among visitors who are not familiar with Seoul, about the presence and precise locations of valuable cultural heritage sites. It aims to promote a basic understanding of Korea's rich and diverse cultural history. The agent is thoughtfully designed for accessibility in English and utilizes data generously provided by the Seoul Metropolitan Government. Despite the limited data volume, it consistently delivers reliable and accurate responses, seamlessly aligning with the available information. We have meticulously detailed the methodologies employed in creating this agent and provided a comprehensive overview of its underlying structure within the paper. Additionally, we delve into potential improvements to enhance this initial version of the system, with a primary emphasis on expanding the available data through our prompting. In conclusion, we provide an in-depth discussion of our expectations regarding the future impact of this agent in promoting and facilitating the sharing of historical sites.
