Line Graph Vietoris-Rips Persistence Diagram for Topological Graph Representation Learning

While message passing graph neural networks result in informative node embeddings, they may suffer from describing the topological properties of graphs. To this end, node filtration has been widely used as an attempt to obtain the topological information of a graph using persistence diagrams. However, these attempts have faced the problem of losing node embedding information, which in turn prevents them from providing a more expressive graph representation. To tackle this issue, we shift our focus to edge filtration and introduce a novel edge filtration-based persistence diagram, named Topological Edge Diagram (TED), which is mathematically proven to preserve node embedding information as well as contain additional topological information. To implement TED, we propose a neural network based algorithm, named Line Graph Vietoris-Rips (LGVR) Persistence Diagram, that extracts edge information by transforming a graph into its line graph. Through LGVR, we propose two model frameworks that can be applied to any message passing GNNs, and prove that they are strictly more powerful than Weisfeiler-Lehman type colorings. Finally we empirically validate superior performance of our models on several graph classification and regression benchmarks.

Seshadri constants and Okounkov bodies revisited

In recent years, the interaction between the local positivity of divisors and Okounkov bodies has attracted considerable attention, and there have been attempts to find a satisfactory theory of positivity of divisors in terms of convex geometry of Okounkov bodies. Many interesting results in this direction have been established by Choi--Hyun--Park--Won and Küronya--Lozovanu separately. The first aim of this paper is to give uniform proofs of these results. Our approach provides not only a simple new outlook on the theory but also proofs for positive characteristic in the most important cases. Furthermore, we extend the theorems on Seshadri constants to graded linear series setting. Finally, we introduce the integrated volume function to investigate the relation between Seshadri constants and filtered Okounkov bodies introduced by Boucksom--Chen.

Extended Okounkov bodies and multi-point Seshadri constants

Based on the work of Okounkov, Kaveh-Khovanskii and Lazarsfeld-Mustata independently associated a convex body, called the Okounkov body, to a big divisor on a normal projective variety with respect to an admissible flag. Although the Okounkov bodies carry rich positivity data of big divisors, they only provide information near a single point. The purpose of this paper is to introduce a convex body of a big divisor that is effective in handling the positivity theory associated with multi-point settings. These convex bodies open the door to approach the local positivity theory at multiple points from a convex-geometric perspective. We study their properties and shapes, and describe local positivity data via them. Finally, we observe the irrationality of Seshadri constants with the help of a relation between Nakayama constants and Seshadri constants.

Positivity of line bundles on general blow-ups of abelian surfaces

Let $(S,L_{S})$ be a polarized abelian surface, and let $M = c \cdot π^*L_S - α\cdot \sum_{i=1}^r E_i$ be a line bundle on ${\rm Bl}_{r}(S)$, where $π:{\rm Bl}_{r}(S) \rightarrow S$ is the blow-up of $S$ at $r$ general points with exceptional divisors $E_{1},\dots,E_{r}$. In this paper, we provide a criterion for $k$-very ampleness of $M$. Also, we deal with the case when $S$ is an arbitrary surface of Picard number one with a numerically trivial canonical divisor.

Higher syzygies on abelian surfaces

Based on the theory of an infinitesimal Newton-Okounkov body, we extend the results of Lazarsfeld-Pareschi-Popa on abelian surfaces. Moreover, we show that the higher syzygies of $(X,L)$ are completely determined by its Seshadri constant when $L^{2}$ is large. As an application, we improve the existing lower bound of $(L^{2})$ for higher syzygies of a polarized abelian surface $(X,L)$.

Slices of Okounkov bodies of big divisors on Mori dream spaces

The purpose of this paper is to study the slices of the Okounkov bodies of Mori dream spaces. First, we analyze all the slices of the Okounkov bodies of big divisors on Mori dream spaces associated to some admissible flags. As a byproduct, we obtain their descriptions on Mori dream threefolds. Finally, we consider its application to the rational polyhedrality of them.

A bound for the Milnor sum of projective plane curves in terms of GIT

Let $C$ be a projective plane curve of degree $d$ whose singularities are all isolated. Suppose $C$ is not concurrent lines. Płoski proved that the Milnor number of an isolated singlar point of $C$ is less than or equal to $(d-1)^{2}-\lfloor \frac{d}{2} \rfloor$. In this paper, we prove that the Milnor sum of $C$ is also less than or equal to $(d-1)^{2}-\lfloor \frac{d}{2} \rfloor$ and the equality holds if and only if $C$ is a Płoski curve. Furthermore, we find a bound for the Milnor sum of projective plane curves in terms of GIT.
