KVStream: Adaptive Parallel Storage Management for KV Caching in Large-Scale LLM Serving

Long-context LLM serving for agentic, coding, and document workloads reuses prefixes whose key-value (KV) cache outgrows GPU and host memory, putting storage I/O on the critical path of the inference step for retrieving prefixes. A single node-local NVMe absorbs all retrievals, while the parallel file system or cloud file store that nodes already mount carries almost no inference traffic. We cast prefix retrieval as aggregate-bandwidth scheduling across these tiers and present KVStream, a KV cache engine that batches a step's reads, defers writes behind the forward pass, replicates each chunk on every tier, and lets each tier adaptively claim the next unread chunks once it is free. Our performance model shows this routing attains the aggregate-bandwidth bound without prediction or tuning, whereas any static split misses it by a margin that grows as per-tier bandwidths drift or fluctuate. It also predicts that the time-to-first-token (TTFT) gain grows with load, as faster retrieval drains the queue, and disappears when host memory or arrival order keeps reuse in cache. Plugged into LMCache and evaluated on four models, six datasets, and up to 128 GPUs, KVStream retrieves within 5% of the bound, delivers up to 1.49$\times$ higher offline throughput than LMCache, and lowers mean TTFT by up to 6.1$\times$ under bursty arrivals.

Been There, Scanned That: Nostalgia-Driven LiDAR Compression for Self-Driving Cars

An autonomous vehicle can generate several terabytes of sensor data per day. A significant portion of this data consists of 3D point clouds produced by depth sensors such as LiDARs. This data must be transferred to cloud storage, where it is utilized for training machine learning models or conducting analyses, such as forensic investigations in the event of an accident. To reduce network and storage costs, this paper introduces DejaView. Although prior work uses interframe redundancies to compress data, DejaView searches for and uses redundancies on larger temporal scales (days and months) for more effective compression. We designed DejaView with the insight that the operating area of autonomous vehicles is limited and that vehicles mostly traverse the same routes daily. Consequently, the 3D data they collect daily is likely similar to the data they have captured in the past. To capture this, the core of DejaView is a diff operation that compactly represents point clouds as delta w.r.t. 3D data from the past. Using two months of LiDAR data, an end-to-end implementation of DejaView can compress point clouds by a factor of 210 at a reconstruction error of only 15 cm.

Image Contrast Enhancement using Fuzzy Technique with Parameter Determination using Metaheuristics

In this work, we have presented a way to increase the contrast of an image. Our target is to find a transformation that will be image specific. We have used a fuzzy system as our transformation function. To tune the system according to an image, we have used Genetic Algorithm and Hill Climbing in multiple ways to evolve the fuzzy system and conducted several experiments. Different variants of the method are tested on several images and two variants that are superior to others in terms of fitness are selected. We have also conducted a survey to assess the visual improvement of the enhancements made by the two variants. The survey indicates that one of the methods can enhance the contrast of the images visually.
