Benchmarking the Inert Doublet Model for e+ e- colliders

We present benchmarks for the Inert Doublet Model, a Two Higgs Doublet Model with a dark matter candidate. They are consistent with current constraints on direct detection, including the most recent bounds from the XENON1T experiment and relic density of dark matter, as well as with known collider and low-energy limits. We focus on parameter choices that promise detectable signals at lepton colliders via pair-production of H+H- and HA. For these we choose a large variety of benchmark points with different kinematic features, leading to distinctly different final states in order to cover the large variety of collider signatures that can result from the model.

Same-sign WW scattering at the LHC: can we discover BSM effects before discovering new states?

It is possible that measurements of vector boson scattering (VBS) at the LHC will reveal disagreement with Standard Model predictions, but no new particles will be observed directly. The task is then to learn as much as possible about the new physics from a VBS analysis carried within the framework of the Effective Field Theory (EFT). In this paper we discuss issues related to the correct usage of the EFT when the WW invariant mass is not directly accessible experimentally, as in purely leptonic W decay channels. The strategies for future data analyses in case such scenario indeed occurs are proposed.

A light singlet at the LHC and DM

An interesting scenario of an R-symmetric supersymmetric model with a light singlet is discussed. Since a light scalar in this model necessarily implies a light Dirac neutralino, its viability as a dark matter candidate is addressed.

HDECAY: Twenty++ Years After

The program HDECAY determines the partial decay widths and branching ratios of the Higgs bosons within the Standard Model with three and four generations of fermions, including the case when the Higgs couplings are rescaled, a general two--Higgs doublet model where the Higgs sector is extended and incorporates five physical states and its most studied incarnation, the minimal supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The program addresses all decay channels including the dominant higher-order effects such as radiative corrections and multi-body channels. Since the first launch of the program, more than twenty years ago, important aspects and new ingredients have been incorporated. In this update of the program description, some of the developments are summarized while others are discussed in some detail.

Exploring the Higgs sector of the MRSSM with a light scalar

In a recent paper we showed that the Minimal R-symmetric Supersymmetric Standard Model (MRSSM) can accommodate the observed 125 GeV Higgs boson as the lightest scalar of the model in agreement with electroweak precision observables, in particular with the W boson mass and $T$ parameter. Here we explore a scenario with the light singlet (and bino-singlino) state in which the second-lightest scalar takes the role of the SM-like boson with mass close to 125 GeV. In such a case the second-lightest Higgs state gets pushed up via mixing already at tree-level and thereby reducing the required loop correction. Unlike in the NMSSM, the light singlet is necessarily connected with a light neutralino which naturally appears as a promising dark matter candidate. We show that dark matter and LHC searches place further bounds on this scenario and point out parameter regions, which are viable and of interest for LHC Run II and upcoming dark matter experiments.

Two-loop correction to the Higgs boson mass in the MRSSM

We present the impact of two-loop corrections on the mass of the lightest Higgs boson in the Minimal R-symmetric Supersymmetric Standard Model (MRSSM). These shift the Higgs boson mass up by typically 5 GeV or more. The dominant corrections arise from strong interactions, from the gluon and its N=2 superpartners, the sgluon and Dirac gluino, and these corrections further increase with large Dirac gluino mass. The two-loop contributions governed purely by Yukawa couplings and the MRSSM $λ,Λ$ parameters are smaller. We also update an earlier analysis [Diessner:2014ksa], which showed that the MRSSM can accommodate the measured Higgs and W boson masses. Including the two-loop corrections increases the parameter space where the theory prediction agrees with the measurement.

Characterizing Invisible Electroweak Particles through Single-Photon Processes at High Energy $e^+e^-$ Colliders

We explore the scenarios where the only accessible new states at the electroweak scale consist of a pair of color-singlet electroweak particles, whose masses are degenerate at the tree level and split only by electroweak symmetry breaking at the loop level. For the sake of illustration, we consider a supersymmetric model and study the following three representative cases with the lower-lying states as (a) two spin-1/2 Higgsino SU(2)$_L$ doublets, (b) a spin-1/2 wino SU(2)$_L$ triplet and (c) a spin-0 left-handed slepton SU(2)$_L$ doublet. Due to the mass-degeneracy, those lower-lying electroweak states are difficult to observe at the LHC and rather challenging to detect at the $e^+ e^-$ collider as well. We exploit the pair production in association with a hard photon radiation in high energy $e^+ e^-$ collisions. If kinematically accessible, such single-photon processes at $e^+e^-$ colliders with polarized beams enable us to characterize each scenario by measuring the energy and scattering angle of the associated hard photon, and to determine the spin of the nearly invisible particles unambiguously through the threshold behavior in the photon energy distribution.

Higgs boson mass and electroweak observables in the MRSSM

R-symmetry is a fundamental symmetry which can solve the SUSY flavor problem and relax the search limits on SUSY masses. Here we provide a complete next-to-leading order computation and discussion of the lightest Higgs boson mass, the W boson mass and muon decay in the minimal R-symmetric SUSY model (MRSSM). This model contains non-MSSM particles including a Higgs triplet, Dirac gauginos and higgsinos, and leads to significant new tree-level and one-loop contributions to these observables. We show that the model can accommodate the measured values of the observables for interesting regions of parameter space with stop masses of order 1 TeV in spite of the absence of stop mixing. We characterize these regions and provide typical benchmark points, which are also checked against further experimental constraints. A detailed exposition of the model, its mass matrices and its Feynman rules relevant for computations in this paper is also provided.

One-loop effects on MSSM parameter determination via chargino production at the LC

At a future linear collider, very precise measurements, typically with errors of <1%, are expected to be achievable. Such an accuracy yields sensitivity to quantum corrections, which therefore must be incorporated into theoretical calculations in order to determine the underlying new physics parameters from linear collider measurements. In the context of the chargino--neutralino sector of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, this involves fitting one-loop predictions to prospective measurements of cross sections, forward-backward asymmetries and the accessible chargino and neutralino masses. Taking recent results from LHC SUSY and Higgs searches into account, we consider three phenomenological scenarios, each displaying characteristic features. Our analysis demonstrates how an accurate determination of the desired parameters is possible, and could additionally provide access to the stop masses and mixing angle.

Ascertaining the spin for new resonances decaying into tau+ tau- at Hadron Colliders

Evidence of a new particle with mass ~125 GeV decaying into a pair of tau leptons at the Large Hadron Collider spurs interest in ascertaining its spin in this channel. Here we present a comparative study between spin-0 and spin-2 nature of this new particle, using spin correlations and decay product directions. The TauSpinner algorithm is used to re-weight distributions from qqbar -> gamma/Z -> tau+ tau- sample to simulate a spin-2 state exchange. The method is based on supplementing the Standard Model matrix elements with those arising from presence of a new interaction. Studies with simulated samples demonstrate the discrimination power between these spin hypotheses based on data collected at the Large Hadron Collider.

MSSM parameter determination via chargino production at the LC: NLO corrections

Very precise measurements of masses and cross sections, with errors of <1%, are expected to be achievable with a future linear collider. Such an accuracy gives sensitivity at the level of quantum corrections, which therefore must be incorporated in order to make meaningful predictions for the underlying new physics parameters. For the chargino-neutralino sector, this involves fitting one-loop predictions to expected measurements of the cross sections and forward-backward asymmetries and of the accessible chargino and neutralino masses. Our analysis shows how an accurate determination of the desired parameters is possible, providing in addition access to the mass of the lighter stop.

CP violation in the chargino/neutralino sector of the MSSM

The CP-violating effects in the neutralino sector of the MSSM can be observed in event-counting type experiments, i.e. without the need of exploiting variables sensitive to beam or neutralino polarization. On the other hand, such CP-odd effects in the chargino sector can be generated only at the loop level. We contrast the two sectors and present results of full one-loop analysis of the CP-odd asymmetry in the non-diagonal chargino pair production in e+e- collisions.

CP violation in chargino production in e+e- collisions

We present the analysis of CP-violating effects in non-diagonal chargino pair production in e+e- collisions. These effects appear only at the one-loop level. We show that CP-odd asymmetries in chargino production are sensitive to the phases of mu and A_t parameters and can be of the order of a few %.

Polarization-independent CP-odd Observable in e^+e^- Chargino Production at One Loop

We discuss CP violation in the process e^+e^- \to \tildeχ^+_i\tildeχ^-_j with unpolarized beams. When the scalars are heavy, the box-diagram results constitute a major part of the full result. However, there are situations when the vertex and self-energy corrections dominate over the box diagrams. We also comment on CP violation in the final chargino decay.
