Quasianalytic functionals and ultradistributions as boundary values of harmonic functions

We study boundary values of harmonic functions in spaces of quasianalytic functionals and spaces of ultradistributions of non-quasianalytic type. As an application, we provide a new approach to Hörmander's support theorem for quasianalytic functionals. Our main technical tool is a description of ultradifferentiable functions by almost harmonic functions, a concept that we introduce in this article. We work in the setting of ultradifferentiable classes defined via weight matrices. In particular, our results simultaneously apply to the two standard classes defined via weight sequences and via weight functions.

The pointwise behavior of Riemann's function

We present a new and simple method for the determination of the pointwise Hölder exponent of Riemann's function $\sum_{n=1}^{\infty} n^{-2}\sin(πn^{2} x)$ at every point of the real line. In contrast to earlier approaches, where wavelet analysis and the theta modular group were needed for the analysis of irrational points, our method is direct and elementary, being only based on the following tools from number theory and complex analysis: the evaluation of quadratic Gauss sums, the Poisson summation formula, and Cauchy's theorem.

Kernel theorems for Beurling-Björck type spaces

We prove new kernel theorems for a general class of Beurling-Björck type spaces. In particular, our results cover the classical Beurling-Björck spaces $\mathcal{S}^{(ω)}_{(η)}$ and $\mathcal{S}^{\{ω\}}_{\{η\}}$ defined via weight functions $ω$ and $η$.

Besov regularity in non-linear generalized functions

We introduce and study new modules and spaces of generalized functions that are related to the classical Besov spaces. Various Schwartz distribution spaces are naturally embedded into our new generalized function spaces. We obtain precise criteria for detecting Besov regularity of distributions.

The optimal Malliavin-type remainder for Beurling generalized integers

We establish the optimal order of Malliavin-type remainders in the asymptotic density approximation formula for Beurling generalized integers. Given $α\in (0,1]$ and $c>0$ (with $c\leq 1$ if $α=1$), a generalized number system is constructed with Riemann prime counting function $ Π(x)= \operatorname*{Li}(x)+ O(x\exp (-c \log^α x ) +\log_{2}x), $ and whose integer counting function satisfies the extremal oscillation estimate $N(x)=ρx + Ω_{\pm}(x\exp(- c'(\log x\log_{2} x)^{\fracα{α+1}})$ for any $c'>(c(α+1))^{\frac{1}{α+1}}$, where $ρ>0$ is its asymptotic density. In particular, this improves and extends upon the earlier work [Adv. Math. 370 (2020), Article 107240].

Infinite order $Ψ$DOs: Composition with entire functions, new Shubin-Sobolev spaces, and index theorem

We study global regularity and spectral properties of power series of the Weyl quantisation $a^w$, where $a(x,ξ) $ is a classical elliptic Shubin polynomial. For a suitable entire function $P$, we associate two natural infinite order operators to $a^{w}$, $P(a^w)$ and $(P\circ a)^{w},$ and prove that these operators and their lower order perturbations are globally Gelfand-Shilov regular. They have spectra consisting of real isolated eigenvalues diverging to $\infty$ for which we find the asymptotic behaviour of their eigenvalue counting function. In the second part of the article, we introduce Shubin-Sobolev type spaces by means of $f$-$Γ^{*,\infty}_{A_p,ρ}$-elliptic symbols, where $f $ is a function of ultrapolynomial growth and $Γ^{*,\infty}_{A_p,ρ}$ is a class of symbols of infinite order studied in this and our previous papers. We study the regularity properties of these spaces, and show that the pseudo-differential operators under consideration are Fredholm operators on them. Their indices are independent on the order of the Shubin-Sobolev spaces; finally, we show that the index can be expressed via a Fedosov-Hörmander integral formula.

Asymptotic boundedness and moment asymptotic expansion in ultradistribution spaces

We obtain structural theorems for the so-called S-asymptotic and quasiasymptotic boundedness of ultradistributions. Using these results, we then analyze the moment asymptotic expansion (MAE), providing a full characterization of those ultradistributions satisfying this asymptotic formula in the one-dimensional case. We also introduce and study a uniform variant of the MAE.

Factorization in Denjoy-Carleman classes associated to representations of $(\mathbb{R}^{d},+)$

For two types of moderate growth representations of $(\mathbb{R}^d,+)$ on sequentially complete locally convex Hausdorff spaces (including F-representations [J. Funct. Anal. 262 (2012), 667-681], we introduce Denjoy-Carleman classes of ultradifferentiable vectors and show a strong factorization theorem of Dixmier-Malliavin type for them. In particular, our factorization theorem solves [Conjecture 6.; J. Funct. Anal. 262 (2012), 667-681] for analytic vectors of representations of $G =(\mathbb{R}^d,+)$. As an application, we show that various convolution algebras and modules of ultradifferentiable functions satisfy the strong factorization property.

An asymptotic analysis of the Fourier-Laplace transforms of certain oscillatory functions

We study the family of Fourier-Laplace transforms $$ F_{α,β}(z)= \operatorname*{F.p.} \int_{0}^{\infty} t^β\exp(\mathrm{i} t^α-\mathrm{i} z t)\:\mathrm{d} t, \quad \operatorname*{Im} z<0, $$ for $α>1$ and $β\in\mathbb{C}$, where Hadamard finite part is used to regularize the integral when $\operatorname*{Re} β\leq -1$. We prove that each $F_{α,β}$ has analytic continuation to the whole complex plane and determine its asymptotics along any line through the origin. We also apply our ideas to show that some of these functions provide concrete extremal examples for the Wiener-Ikehara theorem and a quantified version of the Ingham-Karamata theorem, supplying new simple and constructive proofs of optimality results for these complex Tauberian theorems.

The Fourier transform of thick distributions

We first construct a space $\mathcal{W}\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}} ^{n}\right) $ whose elements are test functions defined in $\mathbb{R} _{\text{c}}^{n}=\mathbb{R}^{n}\cup\left\{ \mathbf{\infty}\right\} ,$ the one point compactification of $\mathbb{R}^{n},$ that have a thick expansion at infinity of special logarithmic type, and its dual space $\mathcal{W}^{\prime }\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}}^{n}\right) ,$ the space of $sl-$thick distributions. We show that there is a canonical projection of $\mathcal{W} ^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}}^{n}\right) $ onto $\mathcal{S} ^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}\right) .$ We study several $sl-$thick distributions and consider operations in $\mathcal{W}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}}^{n}\right) .$ We define and study the Fourier transform of thick test functions of $\mathcal{S}_{\ast}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}\right) $ and thick tempered distributions of $\mathcal{S}_{\ast}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}\right) .$ We construct isomorphisms \[ \mathcal{F}_{\ast}:\mathcal{S}_{\ast}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}\right) \longrightarrow\mathcal{W}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}}^{n}\right) \,, \] \[ \mathcal{F}^{\ast}:\mathcal{W}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}} ^{n}\right) \longrightarrow\mathcal{S}_{\ast}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R} ^{n}\right) \,, \] that extend the Fourier transform of tempered distributions, namely, $Π\mathcal{F}_{\ast}=\mathcal{F}Π$ and $Π\mathcal{F}^{\ast} =\mathcal{F}Π,$ where $Π$ are the canonical projections of $\mathcal{S} _{\ast}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}\right) $ or $\mathcal{W}^{\prime }\left( \mathbb{R}_{\text{c}}^{n}\right) $ onto $\mathcal{S}^{\prime}\left( \mathbb{R}^{n}\right) .$ We determine the Fourier transform of several finite part regularizations and of general thick delta functions.

Beurling integers with RH and large oscillation

We construct a Beurling generalized number system satisfying the Riemann hypothesis and whose integer counting function displays extremal oscillation in the following sense. The prime counting function of this number system satisfies $π(x)= \operatorname*{Li} (x)+ O(\sqrt{x})$, while its integer counting function satisfies the oscillation estimate $N(x) = ρx + Ω_{\pm}\bigl(x\exp(-c\sqrt{\log x\log\log x})\bigr)$ for some $c>0$, where $ρ>0$ is its asymptotic density. The construction is inspired by a classical example of H. Bohr for optimality of the convexity bound for Dirichlet series, and combines saddle-point analysis with the Diamond-Montgomery-Vorhauer probabilistic method via random prime number system approximations.

The nuclearity of Gelfand-Shilov spaces and kernel theorems

We study the nuclearity of the Gelfand-Shilov spaces $\mathcal{S}^{(\mathfrak{M})}_{(\mathscr{W})}$ and $\mathcal{S}^{\{\mathfrak{M}\}}_{\{\mathscr{W}\}}$, defined via a weight (multi-)sequence system $\mathfrak{M}$ and a weight function system $\mathscr{W}$. We obtain characterizations of nuclearity for these function spaces that are counterparts of those for Köthe sequence spaces. As an application, we prove new kernel theorems. Our general framework allows for a unified treatment of the Gelfand-Shilov spaces $\mathcal{S}^{(M)}_{(A)}$ and $\mathcal{S}^{\{M\}}_{\{A\}}$ (defined via weight sequences $M$ and $A$) and the Beurling-Björck spaces $\mathcal{S}^{(ω)}_{(η)}$ and $\mathcal{S}^{\{ω\}}_{\{η\}}$ (defined via weight functions $ω$ and $η$). Our results cover anisotropic cases as well.

Topological properties of convolutor spaces via the short-time Fourier transform

We discuss the structural and topological properties of a general class of weighted $L^1$ convolutor spaces. Our theory simultaneously applies to weighted $\mathcal{D}'_{L^1}$ spaces as well as to convolutor spaces of the Gelfand-Shilov spaces $\mathcal{K}\{M_p\}$. In particular, we characterize the sequences of weight functions $(M_p)_{p \in \mathbb{N}}$ for which the space of convolutors of $\mathcal{K}\{M_p\}$ is ultrabornological, thereby generalizing Grothendieck's classical result for the space $\mathcal{O}'_{C}$ of rapidly decreasing distributions. Our methods lead to the first direct proof of the completeness of the space $\mathcal{O}_{C}$ of very slowly increasing smooth functions.

Note on vector valued Hardy spaces related to analytic functions having distributional boundary values

Analytic functions defined on a tube domain $T^{C}\subset \mathbb{C}^{n}$ and taking values in a Banach space $X$ which are known to have $X$-valued distributional boundary values are shown to be in the Hardy space $H^{p}(T^{C},X)$ if the boundary value is in the vector valued Lebesgue space $L^{p}(\mathbb{R}^{n},X)$, where $1\leq p \leq \infty$ and $C$ is a regular open convex cone. Poisson integral transform representations of elements of $H^{p}(T^{C}, X)$ are also obtained for certain classes of Banach spaces, including reflexive Banach spaces.
