Homogenization in 3D thin domains with oscillating boundaries of different orders

This paper presents an extension of the unfolding operator technique, initially applied to two-dimensional domains, to the realm of three-dimensional thin domains. The advancement of this methodology is pivotal, as it enhances our understanding and analysis of three-dimensional geometries, which are crucial in various practical fields such as engineering and physics. Our work delves into the asymptotic behavior of solutions to a reaction-diffusion equation with Neumann boundary conditions set within such a oscillatory 3-dimensional thin domain. The method introduced enables the deduction of effective problems across all scenarios, tackling the intrinsic complexity of these domains. This complexity is especially pronounced due to the possibility of diverse types of oscillations occurring along their boundaries.

The p-Laplacian operator in oscillating thin domains

In this paper we study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of a class of nonlinear elliptic problems posed in a 2-dimensional domain that degenerates into a line segment (a thin domain) when a positive parameter $\varepsilon$ goes to zero. We also allow high oscillating behavior on the upper boundary of the thin domain as $\varepsilon \to 0$. Combining methods from classic homogenization theory for reticulated structures and monotone operators we obtain the homogenized equation proving convergence of the solutions and establishing a corrector function which guarantees strong convergence in $W^{1,p}$ for $1<p<+\infty$.

The p-Laplacian equation in a rough thin domain with terms concentrating on the boundary

In this work we use reiterated homogenization and unfolding operator approach to study the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the $p$-Laplacian equation with Neumann boundary conditions set in a rough thin domain with concentrated terms on the boundary. We study weak, resonant and high roughness, respectively. In the three cases, we deduce the effective equation capturing the dependence on the geometry of the thin channel and the neighborhood where the concentrations take place.

The p-Laplacian equation in thin domains: The unfolding approach

In this work we apply the unfolding operator method to analyze the asymptotic behavior of the solutions of the $p$-Laplacian equation with Neumann boundary condition set in a bounded thin domain of the type $R^\varepsilon=\left\lbrace(x,y)\in\mathbb{R}^2:x\in(0,1)\mbox{ and }0 1$ representing respectively weak, resonant and high osillations at the top boundary. In the three cases we deduce the homogenized limit and obtain correctors.
