SuSpect: a Fortran Code for the Supersymmetric and Higgs Particle Spectrum in the MSSM

We present the Fortran code SuSpect version 2.3, which calculates the Supersymmetric and Higgs particle spectrum in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM). The calculation can be performed in constrained models with universal boundary conditions at high scales such as the gravity (mSUGRA), anomaly (AMSB) or gauge (GMSB) mediated breaking models, but also in the non-universal MSSM case with R-parity and CP conservation. Care has been taken to treat important features such as the renormalization group evolution of parameters between low and high energy scales, the consistent implementation of radiative electroweak symmetry breaking and the calculation of the physical masses of the Higgs bosons and supersymmetric particles taking into account the dominant radiative corrections. Some checks of important theoretical and experimental features, such as the absence of non desired minima, large fine-tuning in the electroweak symmetry breaking condition, as well as agreement with precision measurements can be performed. The program is user friendly, simple to use, self-contained and can easily be linked with other codes; it is rather fast and flexible, thus allowing scans of the parameter space with several possible options and choices for model assumptions and approximations.

Neutralino Dark Matter in mSUGRA: reopening the light Higgs pole window

The requirement that the lightest neutralino $\tildeχ_1^0$ has the right thermal relic density to explain all Dark Matter in the universe strongly constrains the parameter space of supersymmetric models in general, and of the mSUGRA model in particular. Recently improved calculations of the mass of the light CP-even Higgs boson $h$ present in this model, and the increased central value of the mass of the top quark, have re--opened the possibility that $2 \mlsp \lsim m_h$. In this ``$h-$pole region'' the LSP annihilation cross section is enhanced by near-resonant $h$ exchange in the $s-$channel, reducing the relic density to acceptable values. We delineate the corresponding region of mSUGRA parameter space, and explore its phenomenology. In particular, we find strong upper bounds on the masses of the gluino, lighter chargino and LSP.

Exact 1/N and Optimized Perturbative Evaluation of mu_c for Homogeneous Interacting Bose Gases

In the framework of the O(N) three-dimensional effective scalar field model for homogeneous dilute weakly interacting Bose gases we use the 1/N expansion to evaluate, within the large N limit, the parameter r_c which is directly related to the critical chemical potential mu_c. This quantity enters the order-a^2 n^{2/3} coefficient contributing to the critical temperature shift Delta T_c where a represents the s-wave scattering length and n represents the density. Compared to the recent precise numerical lattice simulation results, our calculation suggests that the large N approximation performs rather well even for the physical case N=2. We then calculate the same quantity but using different forms of the optimized perturbative (variational) method, showing that these produce excellent results both for the finite N and large-N cases.

Asymptotically Improved Convergence of Optimized Perturbation Theory in the Bose-Einstein Condensation Problem

We investigate the convergence properties of optimized perturbation theory, or linear $δ$ expansion (LDE), within the context of finite temperature phase transitions. Our results prove the reliability of these methods, recently employed in the determination of the critical temperature T_c for a system of weakly interacting homogeneous dilute Bose gas. We carry out the explicit LDE optimized calculations and also the infrared analysis of the relevant quantities involved in the determination of $T_c$ in the large-N limit, when the relevant effective static action describing the system is extended to O(N) symmetry. Then, using an efficient resummation method, we show how the LDE can exactly reproduce the known large-N result for $T_c$ already at the first non-trivial order. Next, we consider the finite N=2 case where, using similar resummation techniques, we improve the analytical results for the nonperturbative terms involved in the expression for the critical temperature allowing comparison with recent Monte Carlo estimates of them. To illustrate the method we have considered a simple geometric series showing how the procedure as a whole works consistently in a general case.

Convergent resummed linear delta expansion in the critical O(N) (ϕ_i^2)^2_{3d} model

The nonperturbative linear delta expansion (LDE) method is applied to the critical O(N) phi^4 three-dimensional field theory which has been widely used to study the critical temperature of condensation of dilute weakly interacting homogeneous Bose gases. We study the higher order convergence of the LDE as it is usually applied to this problem. We show how to improve both, the large-N and finite N=2, LDE results with an efficient resummation technique which accelerates convergence. In the large N limit, it reproduces the known exact result within numerical integration accuracy. In the finite N=2 case, our improved results support the recent numerical Monte Carlo estimates for the critical transition temperature of Bose-Einstein condensation.

Constraints on mSUGRA and SUSY particle production at future $e^+e^-$ linear colliders

We perform a complete analysis of the supersymmetric particle spectrum in the Minimal Supergravity (mSUGRA) model. We show that present constraints on the Higgs boson and superparticle masses from collider searches and precision measurements still allow for large regions of the mSUGRA parameter space where some sparticles as well as the heavier Higgs particles, are light enough to be produced at the next generation of $e^+e^-$ linear colliders. An important part of this parameter space remains even when we require that the density of the lightest neutralinos left over from the Big Bang falls in the range favored by current determinations of the Dark Matter density in the Universe.

Probing the SUSY Higgs boson couplings to scalar leptons at high-energy $e^+e^-$ colliders

We discuss the production at $e^+e^-$ colliders of Higgs bosons in association with both the scalar leptons and the lightest neutralinos in the Minimal Supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. While the rates for associated Higgs production with neutralinos and first/second generation sleptons are rather tiny, the cross section for the production of the lightest Higgs boson $h$ with scalar $τ$ lepton pairs can reach the femtobarn level at c.m. energies at and above 500 GeV in favorable regions of the parameter space, making this process potentially detectable at a high-luminosity $\ee$ collider, in particular in the $γγ$ option. This would provide a determination of the $h \tildeτ \tildeτ$ coupling and opens up the possibility of measuring the parameter $\tan β$.

Charged Higgs- and R-Parity-Violating Slepton-Strahlung at Hadron Colliders

It is shown that the radiation of a charged Higgs boson off a third-generation quark (charged-Higgs-strahlung) provides an important channel for the discovery of the charged Higgs at hadron colliders. Equivalently, in supersymmetric models with explicit lepton-number (R-parity) violation, sleptons may also be produced in association with quarks (slepton-strahlung). Higgs- and slepton-strahlung production cross sections are given for both the Tevatron and the LHC. The LHC cross sections imply that heavy ${\cal{O}}$(TeV) charged Higgs bosons can be produced via charged-Higgs-strahlung and that strahlung production of charged sleptons is possible even for small R-parity violating couplings. The possible discovery of sleptons through this channel offers a surprising handle on models of neutrino masses.
