Coherent state quantization and phase operator

Phase operators are constructed using a Klauder-Berezin coherent state quantization in finite Hilbert subspaces of the Hilbert space of Fourier series. The study of infinite dimensional limits of mean values of some observables phase leads towards a simpler convergence to the canonical commutation relations.

Quantum Field Theory in de Sitter space : A survey of recent approaches

We present a survey of rigourous quantization results obtained in recent works on quantum free fields in de Sitter space. For the "massive'' cases which are associated to principal series representations of the de Sitter group SO\_0(1,4), the construction is based on analyticity requirements on the Wightman two-point function. For the "massless'' cases (e.g. minimally coupled or conformal), associated to the discrete series, the quantization schemes are of the Gupta-Bleuler-Krein type.

Fuzzy de Sitter space-times via coherent states quantization

A construction of the 2d and 4d fuzzy de Sitter hyperboloids is carried out by using a (vector) coherent state quantization. We get a natural discretization of the dS "time" axis based on the spectrum of Casimir operators of the respective maximal compact subgroups SO(2) and SO(4) of the de Sitter groups SO\_0(1,2) and SO\_0(1,4). The continuous limit at infinite spins is examined.

The nature of $Λ$ and the mass of the graviton: A critical view

The existence of a non-zero cosmological constant $Λ$ gives rise to controversial interpretations. Is $Λ$ a universal constant fixing the geometry of an empty universe, as fundamental as the Planck constant or the speed of light in the vacuum? Its natural place is then on the left-hand side of the Einstein equation. Is it instead something emerging from a perturbative calculus performed on the metric $g\_{μν}$ solution of the Einstein equation and to which it might be given a material status of (dark or bright) "energy"? It should then be part of the content of the right-hand side of the Einstein equations. The purpose of this paper is not to elucidate the fundamental nature of $Λ$, but instead we aim to present and discuss some of the arguments in favor of both interpretations of the cosmological constant. We conclude that if the fundamental of the geometry of space-time is minkowskian, then the square of the mass of the graviton is proportional to $Λ$; otherwise, if the fundamental state is deSitter/AdS, then the graviton is massless in the deSitterian sense.

Fuzzy spheres from inequivalent coherent states quantizations

We present a new procedure which allows a coherent state (CS) quantization of any set with a measure. It is manifest through the replacement of classical observables by CS quantum observables, which acts on a Hilbert space of prescribed dimension $N$. The algebra of CS quantum observables has the finite dimension $N^2$. The application to the 2-sphere provides a family of inequivalent CS quantizations, based on the spin spherical harmonics (the CS quantization from usual spherical harmonics appears to give a trivial issue for the cartesian coordinates). We compare these CS quantizations to the usual (Madore) construction of the fuzzy sphere. The difference allows us to consider our procedures as the constructions of new type of fuzzy spheres. The very general character of our method suggests applications to construct fuzzy versions of a variety of sets.

On three quantization methods for particle on hyperboloid

We compare the respective efficiencies of three quantization methods (group theoretical, coherent state and geometric) by quantizing the dynamics of a free massive particle in two-dimensional de Sitter space. For each case we consider the realization of the principal series representation of $SO_0(1,2) $ group and its two-fold covering SU(1,1). We demonstrate that standard technique for finding an irreducible representation within the geometric quantization scheme fails. For consistency we recall our earlier results concerning the other two methods, make some improvements and generalizations.

Finite dimensional quantizations of the (q,p) plane : new space and momentum inequalities

We present a N-dimensional quantization a la Berezin-Klauder or frame quantization of the complex plane based on overcomplete families of states (coherent states) generated by the N first harmonic oscillator eigenstates. The spectra of position and momentum operators are finite and eigenvalues are equal, up to a factor, to the zeros of Hermite polynomials. From numerical and theoretical studies of the large $N$ behavior of the product $λ\_m(N) λ\_M(N)$ of non null smallest positive and largest eigenvalues, we infer the inequality $δ\_N(Q) Δ\_N(Q) = σ\_N \overset{<}{\underset{N \to \infty}{\to}} 2 π$ (resp. $δ\_N(P) Δ\_N(P) = σ\_N \overset{<}{\underset{N \to \infty}{\to}} 2 π$) involving, in suitable units, the minimal ($δ\_N(Q)$) and maximal ($Δ\_N(Q)$) sizes of regions of space (resp. momentum) which are accessible to exploration within this finite-dimensional quantum framework. Interesting issues on the measurement process and connections with the finite Chern-Simons matrix model for the Quantum Hall effect are discussed.

Coherent state quantization of a particle in de Sitter space

We present a coherent state quantization of the dynamics of a relativistic test particle on a one-sheet hyperboloid embedded in a three-dimensional Minkowski space. The group SO_0(1,2) is considered to be the symmetry group of the system. Our procedure relies on the choice of coherent states of the motion on a circle. The coherent state realization of the principal series representation of SO_0(1,2) seems to be a new result.

Vector Coherent States from Plancherel's Theorem, Clifford Algebras and Matrix Domains

As a substantial generalization of the technique for constructing canonical and the related nonlinear and q-deformed coherent states, we present here a method for constructing vector coherent states in the same spirit. These vector coherent states may have a finite or an infinite number of components. As examples we first apply the technique to construct vector coherent states using the Plancherel isometry for groups and vector coherent states associated to Clifford algebras, in particular quaternions. As physical examples, we discuss vector coherent states for a quantum optical model and finally apply the general technique to build vector coherent states over certain matrix domains.

Bernuau spline wavelets and Sturmian sequences

A spline wavelets construction of class C^n(R) supported by sequences of aperiodic discretizations of R is presented. The construction is based on multiresolution analysis recently elaborated by G. Bernuau. At a given scale, we consider discretizations that are sets of left-hand ends of tiles in a self-similar tiling of the real line with finite local complexity. Corresponding tilings are determined by two-letter Sturmian substitution sequences. We illustrate the construction with examples having quadratic Pisot-Vijayaraghavan units (like tau = (1 + sqrt{5})/2 or tau^2 = (3 + sqrt{5})/2) as scaling factor. In particular, we present a comprehensive analysis of the Fibonacci chain and give the analytic form of related scaling functions and wavelets as splines of second order. We also give some hints for the construction of multidimensional spline wavelets based on stone-inflation tilings in arbitrary dimension.

Quantization of the sphere with coherent states

Quantization with coherent states allows to " quantize " any space X of parameters. In the case where X is a phase space, this leads to the usual quantum mechanics. But the procedure is much more general, and does not require a symplectic, or any kind of structure in X, other than a measure. It is simply considered as a different way to look at the system, the choice of a resolution, in analogy with data handling, where coherent states (e.g., under the form of wavelets) are very efficient. Here, we present the complex coherent states quantization of the 2-sphere, with emphasis on the links with group representation. We show how this procedure leads naturally to the fuzzy sphere and to non commutative geometry.

A symmetry group of a Thue-Morse quasicrystal

We present a method of coding general self-similar structures. In particular, we construct a symmetry group of a one-dimensional Thue-Morse quasicrystal, i.e., of a nonperiodic ground state of a certain translation-invariant, exponentially decaying interaction.
