The Milnor $K$-theory and the Shintani cocycle

The goal of this article is to complete the unfinished construction (due to Glenn Stevens in an old preprint) of a certain Milnor $K$-group valued group cocycle for $GL_n(\mathbb{Q})$ where $n$ is a positive integer, which we call the Stevens cocycle. Moreover, we give a precise relationship between the Stevens cocycle and the Shintani cocycle, which encodes key informations on the zeta values of totally real fields of degree $n$, using the $\operatorname{dlog}$ map of $K$-theory and the Fourier transform of locally constant functions on $\mathbb{Q}^n$ with bounded support. Roughly speaking, the Stevens cocycle is a multiplicative version of the Shintani cocyle.

Arithmetic Chern-Simons Theory II

We apply ideas of Dijkgraaf and Witten on three-dimensional topological quantum field theory to arithmetic curves, that is, the spectra of rings of integers in algebraic number fields. In the first three sections, we define classical Chern-Simons actions on spaces of Galois representations. In the subsequent sections, we give formulas for computation in a small class of cases and point towards some arithmetic applications.

Abelian arithmetic Chern-Simons theory and arithmetic linking numbers

Following the method of Seifert surfaces in knot theory, we define arithmetic linking numbers and height pairings of ideals using arithmetic duality theorems, and compute them in terms of n-th power residue symbols. This formalism leads to a precise arithmetic analogue of a 'path-integral formula' for linking numbers.

Enhanced homotopy theory for period integrals of smooth projective hypersurfaces

The goal of this paper is to reveal hidden structures on the singular cohomology and the Griffiths period integral of a smooth projective hypersurface in terms of BV(Batalin-Vilkovisky) algebras and homotopy Lie theory (so called, $L_\infty$-homotopy theory). Let $X_G$ be a smooth projective hypersurface in the complex projective space $\mathbf{P}^n$ defined by a homogeneous polynomial $G(\underline x)$ of degree $d \geq 1$. Let $\mathbb{H}=H^{n-1}_{\operatorname{prim}}(X_G, \mathbb{C})$ be the middle dimensional primitive cohomology of $X_G$. We explicitly construct a BV algebra $\mathbf{B\!\!V}_{\! \!X}=(\mathcal{A}_X,Q_X, K_X)$ such that its $0$-th cohomology $H^0_{K_X}(\mathcal{A}_X)$ is canonically isomorphic to $\mathbb{H}$. We also equip $\mathbf{B\!\!V}_{\! \!X}$ with a decreasing filtration and a bilinear pairing which realize the Hodge filtration and the cup product polarization on $\mathbb{H}$ under the canonical isomorphism. Moreover, we lift $C_{[γ]}:\mathbb{H} \to \mathbb{C}$ to a cochain map $\mathcal{C}_γ:(\mathcal{A}_X, K_X) \to (\mathbb{C},0)$, where $C_{[γ]}$ is the Griffiths period integral given by $ω\mapsto \int_γω$ for $[γ]\in H_{n-1}(X_G,\mathbb{Z})$. We use this enhanced homotopy structure on $\mathbb{H}$ to study an extended formal deformation of $X_G$ and the correlation of its period integrals. If $X_G$ is in a formal family of Calabi-Yau hypersurfaces $X_{G_{\underline T}}$, we provide an explicit formula and algorithm (based on a Gröbner basis) to compute the period matrix of $X_{G_{\underline T}}$ in terms of the period matrix of $X_G$ and an $L_\infty$-morphism $\underline κ$ which enhances $C_{[γ]}$ and governs deformations of period matrices.

P-adic family of half-integral weight modular forms via overconvergent Shintani lifting

The goal of this paper is to construct the p-adic analytic family of overconvergent half-integral weight modular forms using Hecke-equivariant overconvergent Shintani lifting. The classical Shintani map is the Hecke-equivariant map from the space of cusp forms of integral weight to the space of cusp forms of half-integral weight. Glenn Stevens proved in [St1] that there is Lamda-adic lifting of this map to the Hida family of ordinary cusp forms of integral weight and consequently constructed Lamda-adic modular eigen form of half-integral weight. The natural thing to do is generalizing his result to non-ordinary finite slope case, i.e. Coleman p-adic analytic family of overconvergent cusp forms of finite slope. For this we will use a slope h decomposition of compact supported cohomology with values in overconvergent distribution, which can be interpreted as a cohomological description of Coleman p-adic family, and define the p-adic Hecke algebra for the slope h part of this cohomology. Then we follow the idea of [St1] in the ordinary case. We also describe Hecke operators explicitly on q-expansion of universal overconvergent half-integral weight modular forms using the Hecke actions on overconvergent modular symbol.
