The Future of Feedback: How Can AI Help Transform Feedback to Be More Engaging, Effective, and Scalable?

With digital learning environments becoming more prevalent, the ease with which generative AI enables the scalable production of real-time, automated feedback holds the potential to reshape learning and teaching experiences. This meeting report synthesizes the interdisciplinary perspectives of 50 scholars from educational psychology, computer science, science education, and the learning sciences on the use of generative AI for feedback and its promises and risks in educational practice. We highlight points of convergence in the scholarship, identify areas of debate and unresolved challenges, and outline open questions and future directions for research and educational practice that emerged from structured small-group activities designed to bridge disciplinary barriers.

On strong Mal'cev conditions for congruence meet-semidistributivity in a locally finite variety

In this paper we examine four-element and five-element digraphs for existence of certain polymorphisms that imply congruence meet-semidistributivity in a locally finite variety. The results presented here occurred as an integral part of my research for optimal strong Mal'cev conditions describing the property mentioned. Most of the programming needed to obtain these results was done in C programming language but for some results we also used the model builder Paradox. The source codes and Paradox inputs will be presented here as well (appendices one and two of this paper contain the source codes; an example of Paradox input is given in section 6).

On terms describing omitting types 1 and 2 - an improved version

In this paper we examine the possibility of describing omitting types 1 and 2 by two at most ternary terms and any number of linear identities. All possible cases of systems of linear identities on two at most ternary terms are being analyzed, and it is shown that only a single one of these systems might describe omitting types 1 and 2. However, we do not resolve whether it actually describes omitting mentioned types, but only prove that it implies this property, so this question is left for further examination.

Omitting unary and affine types

In this paper we examine the possibility of describing omitting types 1 and 2 by two at most ternary terms and any number of linear identities. All possible cases of systems of linear identities on two at most ternary terms are being analyzed, and it is shown that only three of these systems might describe omitting types 1 and 2. However, we do not resolve whether either of them actually describes omitting mentioned types, but only prove that each of them implies this property, so this question is left for further examination.
