Magnetic screening in the hot gluon system

The gluon transverse self-energy of the pure Yang-Mills system at high-temperature is analysed in the static limit and at fourth order in the coupling. Possible contributions to this function are collected, seen to be gauge-fixing independent subsets and shown to vanish all, except those which are either regulators or constituents of the self-energy of Euklidean 3D Yang-Mills theory at zero temperature. The latter self-energy, in turn, is known from the non-perturbative analysis by Karabali and Nair.

Resummation of phi^4 free energy up to an arbitrary order

The consistency condition, which guarantees a well organized small-coupling asymptotic expansion for the thermodynamics of massless $ϕ^4$-theory, is generalized to any desired order of the perturbative treatment. Based on a strong conjecture about forbidden two-particle reducible diagrams, this condition is derived in terms of functions of four-momentum in place of the common toy mass in previous treatments. It has the form of a set of gap equations and marks the position in the space of these functions at which the free energy is extremal.
