Cohomology for Deformation maps on quasi-twilled Lie triple systems

Due to the importance of invariant, in the present paper, we provide a unified approach to study various kinds of operators on Lie triple systems such as crossed homomorphisms, relative Rota-Baxter operators, Reynolds operators etc. For this purpose, we examine two kinds of deformation maps on quasi-twilled Lie triple systems. A quasi-twilled Lie triple system is a Lie triple system which can be decomposed into two subspaces, one of which is a subalgebra. Moreover, we establish cohomologies of two kinds of deformation maps, which recover those of several kinds of operators on Lie triple systems.

Relaxed Lagrange Multiplier (RLM) Schemes for Phase Field Models Preserving the Relaxed Original Energy Dissipation Law

Phase-field models are typically derived from variational principles for a free-energy functional and are widely used to simulate complex multiphase phenomena in science and engineering. A central goal in designing numerical schemes for these models is to preserve the underlying energy-dissipation law. In this paper, we propose a class of relaxed Lagrange multiplier (RLM) schemes for phase field models. In contrast to popular scalar auxiliary variable (SAV) and invariant energy quadratization (IEQ) methods, which dissipate a modified energy involving auxiliary variables, the RLM schemes dissipate a relaxed version of the original energy and closely track the original energy dissipation rate. Compared with the classical Lagrange multiplier (LM) approach, the RLM schemes ensure that the resulting discrete system is uniquely solvable over a broad range of time steps. The key idea is to augment the LM formulation with a relaxation term, yielding a scalar quadratic equation for the multiplier with an explicit closed-form solution. The resulting schemes are linear and efficient because each time step requires solving only two linear systems with constant coefficients, at a cost comparable to that of SAV schemes. We construct both first-order and second-order variants and prove their energy stability. Numerical experiments verify the expected convergence rates and demonstrate that the RLM schemes accurately capture interface dynamics.

Reducibility of Cartesian product quantum graph equipped with group action

We consider a Cartesian product quantum graph $\Gamma_{n_1}\Box\Gamma_{n_2}$ with standard vertex conditions, and complete the decomposition of Hilbert space $L^2(\Gamma_{n_1}\Box\Gamma_{n_2})$ and the Laplacian $\mathscr{H}$ on it by employing the relevant theories of group representation. The concept of $\Gamma_{n_1}\Box\Gamma_{n_2}$ equipped with the action of the cyclic group $G_{n_1}\times G_{n_2}$ is defined through the introduction of periodic quantum graph and cyclic groups. We also constructed its quotient graph and accomplish the decomposition of its secular determinant. Furthermore, under the condition that $\gcd(n_1,n_2)=1$, it can be regarded as equivalent to a circulant graph $C_{n_1n_2}(n_1,n_2)$. This work also provides a new method for the construction of isospectral graphs.

Twisting of Lie triple systems, $L_\infty$-algebras, and (generalized) matched pairs

In this paper, we introduce notions of (proto-, quasi-)twilled Lie triple systems and give their equivalent descriptions using the controlling algebra and bidegree convention. Then we construct an $L_\infty$-algebra via a twilled Lie triple system. Besides, we establish the twisting theory of Lie triple systems and then characterize the twisting as a Maurer-Cartan element in the constructed $L_\infty$-algebra. Finally, we clarify the relationship between twilled Lie triple systems and matched pairs and clarify the relationship between twilled Lie triple systems and relative Rota-Baxter operators respectively so that we obtain the relationship between matched pairs of Lie triple systems and relative Rota-Baxter operators.

Spectral properties of Sturm-Liouville operators on infinite metric graphs

This paper mainly deals with the Sturm-Liouville operator \begin{equation*} \mathbf{H}=\frac{1}{w(x)}\left( -\frac{\mathrm{d}}{\mathrm{d}x}p(x)\frac{ \mathrm{d}}{\mathrm{d}x}+q(x)\right) ,\text{ }x\in Γ\end{equation*} acting in $L_{w}^{2}\left( Γ\right) ,$ where $Γ$ is a metric graph. We establish a relationship between the bottom of the spectrum and the positive solutions of quantum graphs, which is a generalization of the classical Allegretto-Piepenbrink theorem. Moreover, we prove the Persson-type theorem, which characterizes the infimum of the essential spectrum.

General Numerical Framework to Derive Structure Preserving Reduced Order Models for Thermodynamically Consistent Reversible-Irreversible PDEs

In this paper, we propose a general numerical framework to derive structure-preserving reduced order models for thermodynamically consistent PDEs. Our numerical framework has two primary features: (a) a systematic way to extract reduced order models for thermodynamically consistent PDE systems while maintaining their inherent thermodynamic principles and (b) a strategic process to devise accurate, efficient, and structure-preserving numerical algorithms to solve the forehead reduced-order models. The platform's generality extends to various PDE systems governed by embedded thermodynamic laws. The proposed numerical platform is unique from several perspectives. First, it utilizes the generalized Onsager principle to transform the thermodynamically consistent PDE system into an equivalent one, where the transformed system's free energy adopts a quadratic form of the state variables. This transformation is named energy quadratization (EQ). Through EQ, we gain a novel perspective on deriving reduced order models. The reduced order models derived through our method continue to uphold the energy dissipation law. Secondly, our proposed numerical approach automatically provides numerical algorithms to discretize the reduced order models. The proposed algorithms are always linear, easy to implement and solve, and uniquely solvable. Furthermore, these algorithms inherently ensure the thermodynamic laws. In essence, our platform offers a distinctive approach to derive structure-preserving reduced-order models for a wide range of PDE systems abiding by thermodynamic principles.

Maurer-Cartan characterization, $L_\infty$-algebras, and cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras

In this paper, we first construct a differential graded Lie algebra that controls deformations of a Lie-Yamaguti algebra. Furthermore, a relative Rota-Baxter operator on a Lie-Yamaguti algebra is characterized as a Maurer-Cartan element in an appropriate $L_\infty$-algebra that we build through the graded Lie bracket of Lie-Yamaguti algebra's controlling algebra, and gives rise to a twisted $L_\infty$-algebra that controls its deformation. Next we establish the cohomology theory of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras via the Yamaguti cohomology. Then we clarify the relationship between the twisted $L_\infty$-algebra and the cohomology theory. Finally as byproducts, we classify certain deformations on Lie-Yamaguti algebras using the cohomology theory.

Post Lie-Yamaguti algebras, relative Rota-Baxter operators of nonzero weights, and their deformations

In this paper, we introduce the notions of relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $1$ on Lie-Yamaguti algebras, and post-\LYA s, which is an underlying algebraic structure of relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $1$. We give the relationship between these two algebraic structures. Besides, we establish the cohomology theory of relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $1$ via the Yamaguti cohomology. Consequently, we use this cohomology to characterize linear deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators of weight $1$ on Lie-Yamaguti algebras. We show that if two linear deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter operator of weight $1$ are equivalent, then their infinitesimals are in the same cohomology class in the first cohomology group. Moreover, we show that an order $n$ deformation of a relative Rota-Baxter operator of weight $1$ can be extended to an order $n+1$ deformation if and only if the obstruction class in the second cohomology group is trivial.

Cohomology and deformations of crossed homomorphisms between Lie-Yamaguti algebras

In this paper, we introduce the notion of crossed homomorphisms between Lie-Yamaguti algebras and establish the cohomology theory of crossed homomorphisms via the Yamaguti cohomology. Consequently, we use this cohomology to characterize linear deformations of crossed homomorphisms between Lie-Yamaguti algebras. We show that if two linear or formal deformations of a crossed homomorphism are equivalent, then their infinitesimals are in the same cohomology class in the first cohomology group. Moreover, we show that an order $n$ deformation of a crossed homomorphism can be extended to an order $n+1$ deformation if and only if the obstruction class in the second cohomology group is trivial.

Para-Kähler and pseudo-Kähler structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebras

For a pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebra $A$, by using its sub-adjacent Lie-Yamaguti algebra $A^c$, we are able to construct a semidirect product Lie-Yamaguti algebra via a representation of $A^c$. The investigation of such semidirect Lie-Yamaguti algebras leads us to the notions of para-Kähler structures and pseudo-Kähler structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebras, and also gives the definition of complex product structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebras which was first introduced in [25]. Furthermore, a Levi-Civita product with respect to a pseudo-Riemannian \Lie-Yamaguti algebra is introduced and we explore its relation with pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebras.

Machine learning phase transitions of the three-dimensional Ising universality class

Exploration of the QCD phase diagram and critical point is one of the main goals in current relativistic heavy-ion collisions. The QCD critical point is expected to belong to a three-dimensional (3D) Ising universality class. Machine learning techniques are found to be powerful in distinguishing different phases of matter and provide a new way to study the phase diagram. We investigate phase transitions in the 3D cubic Ising model using supervised learning methods. It is found that a 3D convolutional neural network can be trained to effectivelly predict physical quantities in different spin configurations. With a uniform neural network architecture, it can encode phases of matter and identify both second- and first-order phase transitions. The important features that discriminate different phases in the classification processes are investigated. These findings can help study and understand QCD phase transitions in relativistic heavy-ion collisions.

The classical Lie-Yamaguti Yang-Baxter equation and Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras

In this paper, we develop the bialgebra theory for Lie-Yamaguti algebras. For this purpose, we exploit two types of compatibility conditions: local cocycle condition and double construction. We define the classical Yang-Baxter equation in Lie-Yamaguti algebras and show that a solution to the classical Yang-Baxter equation corresponds to a relative Rota-Baxter operator with respect to the coadjoint representation. Furthermore, we generalize some results by Bai in [1] and Semonov-Tian-Shansky in [19] to the context of Lie-Yamaguti algebras. Then we introduce the notion of matched pairs of Lie-Yamaguti algebras, which leads us to the concept of double construction Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras following the Manin triple approach to Lie bialgebras. We prove that matched pairs, Manin triples of Lie-Yamaguti algebras, and double construction Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras are equivalent. Finally, we clarify that a local cocycle condition is a special case of a double construction for Lie-Yamaguti bialgebras.

Cohomology and relative Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structures on LieYRep pairs

A LieYRep pair consists of a Lie-Yamaguti algebra and its representation. In this paper, we establish the cohomology theory of LieYRep pairs and characterize their linear deformations by the second cohomology group. Then we introduce the notion of relative Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structures on LieYRep pairs, investigate their properties, and prove that a relative Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structure gives rise to a pair of compatible relative Rota-Baxter operators under a certain condition. Finally, we show the equivalence between $r$-matrix-Nijenhuis structures and Rota-Baxter-Nijenhuis structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebras.

Numerical Approximations of the Allen-Cahn-Ohta-Kawasaki (ACOK) Equation with Modified Physics Informed Neural Networks (PINNs)

The physics informed neural networks (PINNs) has been widely utilized to numerically approximate PDE problems. While PINNs has achieved good results in producing solutions for many partial differential equations, studies have shown that it does not perform well on phase field models. In this paper, we partially address this issue by introducing a modified physics informed neural networks. In particular, they are used to numerically approximate Allen-Cahn-Ohta-Kawasaki (ACOK) equation with a volume constraint.

Cohomology and deformations of Relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras

In this paper, we establish the cohomology of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras via the Yamaguti cohomology. Then we use this type of cohomology to characterize deformations of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras. We show that if two linear or formal deformations of a relative Rota-Baxter operator are equivalent, then their infinitesimals are in the same cohomology class in the first cohomology group. Moreover, an order $n$ deformation of a relative Rota-Baxter operator can be extended to an order $n+1$ deformation if and only if the obstruction class in the second cohomology group is trivial.

A Remark on the Invariant Energy Quadratization (IEQ) Method for Preserving the Original Energy Dissipation Laws

In this letter, we revisit the IEQ method and provide a new perspective on its ability to preserve the original energy dissipation laws. The invariant energy quadratization (IEQ) method has been widely used to design energy stable numerical schemes for phase-field or gradient flow models. Although there are many merits of the IEQ method, one major disadvantage is that the IEQ method usually respects a modified energy law, where the modified energy is expressed in the auxiliary variables. Still, the dissipation laws in terms of the original energy are not guaranteed. Using the widely-used Cahn-Hilliard equation as an example, we demonstrate that the Runge-Kutta IEQ method indeed can preserve the original energy dissipation laws for certain situations up to arbitrary high-order accuracy. Interested readers are highly encouraged to apply our idea to other phase-field equations or gradient flow models.

Relative Rota-Baxter operators and symplectic structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebras

In this paper, first we introduce the notion of a quadratic Lie-Yamaguti algebra and show that the invariant bilinear form in a quadratic Lie-Yamaguti algebra induces an isomorphism between the adjoint representation and the coadjoint representation. Then we introduce the notions of relative Rota-Baxter operators on Lie-Yamaguti algebras and pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebras. We prove that a pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebra gives rise to a Lie-Yamaguti algebra naturally and a relative Rota-Baxter operator induces a pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebra. Finally we study symplectic structures on Lie-Yamaguti algebra, which give rise to relative Rota-Baxter operators as well as pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebras. As applications, we study phase spaces of Lie-Yamaguti algebras, and show that there is a one-to-one correspondence between phase spaces of Lie-Yamaguti algebras and Manin triples of pre-Lie-Yamaguti algebras.

Improving the Accuracy and Consistency of the Scalar Auxiliary Variable (SAV) Method with Relaxation

The scalar auxiliary variable (SAV) method was introduced by Shen et al. and has been broadly used to solve thermodynamically consistent PDE problems. By utilizing scalar auxiliary variables, the original PDE problems are reformulated into equivalent PDE problems. The advantages of the SAV approach, such as linearity, unconditionally energy stability, and easy-to-implement, are prevalent. However, there is still an open issue unresolved, i.e., the numerical schemes resulted from the SAV method preserve a "modified" energy law according to the auxiliary variables instead of the original variables. Truncation errors are introduced during numerical calculations so that the numerical solutions of the auxiliary variables are no longer equivalent to their original continuous definitions. In other words, even though the SAV scheme satisfies a modified energy law, it does not necessarily satisfy the energy law of the original PDE models. This paper presents one essential relaxation technique to overcome this issue, which we named the relaxed-SAV (RSAV) method. Our RSAV method penalizes the numerical errors of the auxiliary variables by a relaxation technique. In general, the RSAV method keeps all the advantages of the baseline SAV method and improves its accuracy and consistency noticeably. Several examples have been presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the RSAV approach.
