Kaonic Hydrogen and Deuterium in Hamiltonian Effective Field Theory

The anti-kaon nucleon scattering lengths resulting from a Hamiltonian effective field theory analysis of experimental data and lattice QCD studies are presented. The same Hamiltonian is then used to compute the scattering length for the $K^- d$ system, taking careful account of the effects of recoil on the energy at which the $\bar{K}N$ T-matrices are evaluated. These results are then used to estimate the shift and width of the $1S$ levels of anti-kaonic hydrogen and deuterium. The $K^- p$ result is in excellent agreement with the SIDDHARTA measurement. In the $K^- d$ case the imaginary part of the scattering length and consequently the width of the $1S$ state are considerably larger than found in earlier work. This is a consequence of the effect of recoil on the energy of the $\bar{K}N$ energy, which enhances the role of the $Λ(1405)$ resonance.

Partial Wave Mixing in Hamiltonian Effective Field Theory

The spectrum of excited states observed in the finite volume of lattice QCD is governed by the discrete symmetries of the cubic group. This finite group permits the mixing of orbital angular momentum quanta in the finite volume. As experimental results refer to specific angular momentum in a partial-wave decomposition, a formalism mapping the partial-wave scattering potentials to the finite volume is required. This formalism is developed herein for Hamiltonian effective field theory, an extension of chiral effective field theory incorporating the Lüscher relation linking the energy levels observed in finite volume to the scattering phase shift. The formalism provides an optimal set of rest-frame basis states maximally reducing the dimension of the Hamiltonian, and it should work in any Hamiltonian formalism. As a first example of the formalism's implementation, lattice QCD results for the spectrum of an isospin-2 $ππ$ scattering system are analyzed to determine the $s$, $d$, and $g$ partial-wave scattering information.

Photoproduction of hidden-bottom pentaquark and related topics

Due to the discovery of the hidden-charm pentaquark $P_c$ states by the LHCb collaboration, the interests on the candidates of hidden-bottom pentaquark $P_b$ states are increasing. They are anticipated to exist as the analogues of the $P_c$ states in the bottom sector and predicted by many models. We give an exploration of searching for a typical $P_b$ in the $γp \to Υp$ reaction, which shows a promising potential to observe it at an electron-ion collider. The possibility of searching for $P_b$ in open-bottom channels are also briefly discussed. Meanwhile, the $t$-channel non-resonant contribution, which in fact covers several interesting topics at low energies, is systematically investigated.

Identify the hidden charm pentaquark signal from non-resonant background in electron-proton scattering

We study the electroproduction of the LHCb pentaquark states with the assumption that they are resonant states. The main concern here is to investigate the final state distribution in the phase space in order to extract the feeble pentaquark signal from the large non-resonant background. Our results show that the ratio of the signal to background would increase significantly with proper kinematic cut, which would be very helpful for future experimental analysis.

PandaX limits on light dark matter with light mediator in the singlet extension of MSSM

Using the latest PandaX limits on light dark matter (DM) with light mediator, we check the implication on the parameter space of the general singlet extension of MSSM (without $Z_3$ symmetry), which can have a sizable DM self-interaction to solve the small-scale structure problem. We find that the PandaX limits can stringently constrain such a paramter space, depending on the coupling $λ$ between the singlet and doublet Higgs fields. For the singlet extension of MSSM with $Z_3$ symmetry, the so-called NMSSM, we also demonstrate the PandaX constraints on its parameter space which gives a light DM with correct relic density but without sufficient self-interaction to solve the small-scale structure problem. We find that in this NMSSM the GeV dark matter with a sub-GeV mediator has been stringently constrained.

Decay behaviors of possible $Λ_{c\bar{c}}$ states in hadronic molecule pictures

In 2010, $Λ^*_{c\bar{c}}$ states were predicted as the strange number $S=-1$ partners of $N^*_{c\bar{c}}$, which are well known now as the $P_c$ states and observed experimentally by LHCb Collaboration. We analyze the decay behaviors of $Λ_{c\bar{c}}$ as S-wave hadronic molecules within the effective Lagrangian framework by a similar method, which has been applied on $P_c$ states successfully. With partial widths of possible decay channels calculated, we find that $Λ_{c\bar{c}}(4213)$ and $Λ_{c\bar{c}}(4403)$, which are formed as pseudoscalar meson baryon molecules, mainly decay to the $η_c Λ$ channel. For the two vector meson baryon molecule states, our results show that the total decay width with $J^P=\frac12^-$ is by one order of magnitude larger than that with $J^P=\frac32^-$. The decay patterns and relative decay ratios are very different for $Λ_{c\bar{c}}(4370)$ being a $D_s^{* -} Λ_c^+$ or $\bar{D}^{*} Ξ_c$ molecule state. The main decay channels of $Λ_{c\bar{c}}(4550)$ are $\bar{D}^{(*)} Ξ^{(*,\prime)}_c$ because of the pseudoscalar meson exchange mechanism. In addition, $\bar{D}^{*} Ξ_c$ is the dominant decay channel of $Λ_{c\bar{c}}(4490)$ which is assumed as a $\bar{D} Ξ_c^{*}$ bound state. These decay patterns of the $Λ^*_{c\bar{c}}$ states would provide a guidance for their future experimental searches and help us to understand their internal structures.

Energy shift of the three-particle system in a finite volume

Using the three-particle quantization condition recently obtained in the particle-dimer framework, the finite-volume energy shift of the two lowest three-particle scattering states is derived up to and including order $L^{-6}$. Furthermore, assuming that a stable dimer exists in the infinite volume, the shift for the lowest particle-dimer scattering state is obtained up to and including order $L^{-3}$. The result for the lowest three-particle state agrees with the results from the literature, and the result for the lowest particle-dimer state reproduces the one obtained by using the Luescher equation.

Nucleon Resonances with Hidden Charm in $γp $ reactions

The excitations of nucleon resonances with hidden charm, $N^*_{c\bar{c}}$, in the $γp$ reactions are investigated by using the predictions from the available meson-baryons (MB) coupled-channel models. For the $γ\,p\rightarrow J/ψ\, p$ process, we first calculate the Pomeron-exchange amplitudes with the parameters determined from fitting the available total cross section data up to invariant mass $W=300$ GeV. We then add the resonant amplitudes to examine the effects of $ N^*_{c\bar{c}}$ excitations on the cross sections of $γ\,p\rightarrow J/ψ\, p$ in the near threshold energy region. The $N^*_{c\bar{c}}\to MB$ transition matrix elements are determined from the partial decay widths predicted by the meson-baryons coupled-channel models. The $γp \to N^*_{c\bar{c}}$ transition amplitudes are calculated from the Vector Meson Dominance (VMD) model. The total $γp\rightarrow J/ψ\, p$ amplitudes then depend on an off-shell form factor, parameterized as $F_V(q^2)=Λ^4/(Λ^4 + (q^2 - m^2_V)^2)$ with $Λ=550$ MeV. We then demonstrate that the $N^*_{c\bar{c}}$ can be most easily identified in the differential cross sections at large angles of outgoing $J/ψ$ where the contribution from Pomeron-exchange becomes negligible. With the same VMD model and the same coupled-channel models of $N^*_{c\bar{c}}$, we also calculate the resonant amplitudes for the $γ\,p\rightarrow Vp\rightarrow N^*_{c\bar{c}} \rightarrow \bar{D}^0Λ_c^+ (\bar{D}^{*0}Λ_c^+)$ processes. By adding the non-resonant amplitudes due to the exchange of $\bar{D}^{*0}$ ($\bar{D}^{0})$, we then predict the cross sections of $γ\,p\rightarrow \bar{D}^0Λ_c^+(\bar{D}^{*0}Λ^+_c)$ for additional experimental tests of the available meson-baryon coupled-channel models of $N^*_{c\bar{c}}$.

Hamiltonian effective field theory study of the $\mathbf{N^*(1440)}$ resonance in lattice QCD

We examine the phase shifts and inelasticities associated with the $N^*(1440)$ Roper resonance and connect these infinite-volume observables to the finite-volume spectrum of lattice QCD using Hamiltonian effective field theory. We explore three hypotheses for the structure of the Roper resonance. All three hypotheses are able to describe the scattering data well. In the third hypothesis the Roper resonance couples the low-lying bare basis-state component associated with the ground state nucleon with the virtual meson-baryon contributions. Here the non-trivial superpositions of the meson-baryon scattering states are complemented by bare basis-state components explaining their observation in contemporary lattice QCD calculations. The merit of this scenario lies in its ability to not only describe the observed nucleon energy levels in large-volume lattice QCD simulations but also explain why other low-lying states have been missed in today's lattice QCD results for the nucleon spectrum.

Study of Low-Lying Baryons with Hamiltonian Effective Field Theory

Drawing on experimental data for baryon resonances, Hamiltonian effective field theory (HEFT) is used to predict the positions of the finite-volume energy levels to be observed in lattice QCD simulations. We have studied the low-lying baryons $N^*(1535)$, $N^*(1440)$, and $Λ(1405)$. In the initial analysis, the phenomenological parameters of the Hamiltonian model are constrained by experiment and the finite-volume eigenstate energies are a prediction of the model. The agreement between HEFT predictions and lattice QCD results obtained at finite volume is excellent. These lattice results also admit a more conventional analysis where the low-energy coefficients are constrained by lattice QCD results, enabling a determination of resonance properties from lattice QCD itself. The role and importance of various components of the Hamiltonian model are examined in the finite volume. The analysis of the lattice QCD data can help us to undertand the structure of these states better.

Structure of the $\mathbf{Λ(1405)}$ from Hamiltonian effective field theory

The pole structure of the $Λ(1405)$ is examined by fitting the couplings of an underlying Hamiltonian effective field theory to cross sections of $K^- p$ scattering in the infinite-volume limit. Finite-volume spectra are then obtained from the theory, and compared to lattice QCD results for the mass of the $Λ(1405)$. Momentum-dependent, non-separable potentials motivated by the well-known Weinberg-Tomozawa terms are used, with SU(3) flavour symmetry broken in the couplings and masses. In addition, we examine the effect on the behaviour of the spectra from the inclusion of a bare triquark-like isospin-zero basis state. It is found that the cross sections are consistent with the experimental data with two complex poles for the $Λ(1405)$, regardless of whether a bare baryon basis state is introduced or not. However, it is apparent that the bare baryon is important for describing the results of lattice QCD at high pion masses.

Nucleon resonance structure in the finite volume of lattice QCD

An approach for relating the nucleon resonances extracted from $πN$ reaction data to lattice QCD calculations has been developed by using the finite-volume Hamiltonian method. Within models of $πN$ reactions, bare states are introduced to parametrize the intrinsic excitations of the nucleon. We show that the resonance pole positions can be related to the probability $P_{N^*}(E)$ of finding the bare state, $N^*$, in the $πN$ scattering states in infinite volume. We further demonstrate that the probability $P_{N^*}^V(E)$ of finding the same bare states in the eigenfunctions of the underlying Hamiltonian in finite volume approaches $P_{N^*}(E)$ as the volume increases. Our findings suggest that the comparison of $P_{N^*}(E)$ and $P_{N^*}^V(E)$ can be used to examine whether the nucleon resonances extracted from the $πN$ reaction data within the dynamical models are consistent with lattice QCD calculation. We also discuss the measurement of $P_{N^*}^V(E)$ directly from lattice QCD. The practical differences between our approach and the approach using the Lüscher formalism to relate LQCD calculations to the nucleon resonance poles embedded in the data are also discussed.

Hamiltonian effective field theory study of the $\mathbf{N^*(1535)}$ resonance in lattice QCD

Drawing on experimental data for baryon resonances, Hamiltonian effective field theory (HEFT) is used to predict the positions of the finite-volume energy levels to be observed in lattice QCD simulations of the lowest-lying $J^P=1/2^-$ nucleon excitation. In the initial analysis, the phenomenological parameters of the Hamiltonian model are constrained by experiment and the finite-volume eigenstate energies are a prediction of the model. The agreement between HEFT predictions and lattice QCD results obtained on volumes with spatial lengths of 2 and 3 fm is excellent. These lattice results also admit a more conventional analysis where the low-energy coefficients are constrained by lattice QCD results, enabling a determination of resonance properties from lattice QCD itself. Finally, the role and importance of various components of the Hamiltonian model are examined.

Penta-quark States with Strangeness, Hidden Charm and Beauty

The classical quenched quark models with three constituent quarks provide a good description for the baryon spatial ground states, but fail to reproduce the spectrum of baryon excited states. More and more evidences suggest that unquenched effects with multi-quark dynamics are necessary ingredients to solve the problem. Several new hyperon resonances reported recently could fit in the picture of penta-quark states. Based on this picture, some new hyperon excited states were predicted to exist; meanwhile with extension from strangeness to charm and beauty, super-heavy narrow $N^*$ and $Λ^*$ resonances with hidden charm or beauty were predicted to be around 4.3 and 11 GeV, respectively. Recently, two of such $N^*$ with hidden charm might have been observed by the LHCb experiment. More of those states are expected to be observed in near future. This opens a new window in order to study hadronic dynamics for the multi-quark states.

Finite-volume Hamiltonian method for $ππ$ scattering in lattice QCD

Within a formulation of $ππ$ scattering, we investigate the use of the finite-volume Hamiltonian approach to resolving scattering observables from lattice QCD spectra. We consider spectra in the centre-of-mass and moving frames for both S- and P-wave cases. Furthermore, we investigate the multi-channel case. Here we study the use of the Hamiltonian framework as a parametrization that can be fit directly to lattice spectra. Through this method, the hadron properties, such as mass, width and coupling, can be directly extracted from the lattice spectra.

Baryon resonances in the strangeness production

We have studied the $N^*(2120)$, $Δ^*(1940)$, and the possible $Σ^*(1380)$ resonances in the $γp \to K^+ Λ(1520)$, $pp \to n K^+ Σ(1385)$, and $Λp \to Λp π^0$ reactions within the resonance model and the effective Lagrangian approach. It is shown that when the contributions from these baryonic states were considered, the current experimental measurement could be well reproduced. In addition, we also demonstrate that the angular distributions provide direct information of these reactions, which could be useful for the investigation of those states and may be tested by future experiments.

Hyperon production from neutrino-nucleon reaction

The neutrino induced hyperon production processes $\barν_{e/μ} + p \to e^+/μ^+ + π+ Λ/Σ$ may provide a unique clean place for studying low energy $πΛ/Σ$ interaction and hyperon resonances below $KN$ threshold. The production rates for some neutrino induced hyperon production processes are estimated with theoretical models. Suggestions are made for the study of hyperon production from neutrino-nucleon reaction at present and future neutrino facilities.

Incoherent Pion Production in Neutrino - Deuteron Reactions

Within the multiple scattering formulation, the incoherent pion production in neutrino-deuteron reactions at energies near the $Δ(1232)$ resonance is investigated. The calculations include an impulse term and one-loop contributions from nucleon-nucleon ($NN$) and pion-nucleon ($πN$) final state interactions. The input amplitudes of $πN$ scattering and electroweak pion production reaction on nucleon are generated from a dynamical model which describes very extensive data of $πN$ scattering and both the electromagnetic and the weak pion production reactions on the nucleon. The $NN$ scattering amplitudes are generated from the Bonn potential. The validity of the calculational procedures is established by giving a reasonably good description of the data of pion photo-production on the deuteron. The constructed model is then applied to predict the cross sections of $ν+ d \rightarrow μ^- + π^+ + n+ p$ and $ν+d \rightarrow μ^-+π^0+p+p$ reactions. The importance of including the $NN$ final state interactions to understand the experimental data of these neutrino-deuteron reactions is demonstrated. Our results strongly suggest that the spectator approximation used in the previous analyses to extract the pion production cross sections on the nucleon from the data on the deuteron is not valid for the $ν+ d \rightarrow μ^-+ π^+ +n+p$, but is a good approximation for $ν+ d \rightarrow μ^-+ π^0 + p+p$.
