Semi-Supervised Flow Matching for Mosaiced and Panchromatic Fusion Imaging

Fusing a low resolution (LR) mosaiced hyperspectral image (HSI) with a high resolution (HR) panchromatic (PAN) image offers a promising avenue for video-rate HR-HSI imaging via single-shot acquisition, yet its severely ill-posed nature remains a significant challenge. In this work, we propose a novel semi-supervised flow matching framework for mosaiced and PAN image fusion. Unlike previous diffusion-based approaches constrained by specific protocols or handcrafted assumptions, our method seamlessly integrates an unsupervised scheme with flow matching, resulting in a generalizable and efficient generative framework. Specifically, our method follows a two-stage training pipeline. First, we pretrain an unsupervised prior network to produce an initial pseudo HR-HSI. Building on this, we then train a conditional flow matching model to generate the target HR-HSI, introducing a random voting mechanism that iteratively refines the initial HR-HSI estimate, enabling robust and effective fusion. During inference, we employ a conflict-free gradient guidance strategy that ensures spectrally and spatially consistent HR-HSI reconstruction. Experiments on multiple benchmark datasets demonstrate that our method achieves superior quantitative and qualitative performance by a significant margin compared to representative baselines. Beyond mosaiced and PAN fusion, our approach provides a flexible generative framework that can be readily extended to other image fusion tasks and integrated with unsupervised or blind image restoration algorithms.

Generative model for information metamaterial design

Generative models such as AlphaFold and MatterGen can directly generate novel material structures with desired properties, accelerating the new materials discovery and revolutionizing the material design paradigm from traditional trial-and-error approach to intelligent on-demand generation. AlphaFold is focused on protein prediction with specific aperiodic structures; while MatterGen is focused on predicting periodic and stable crystal structures. The universal design of metamaterials is much more complicated, since it involves to design meta-atoms (similar to the periodic structures) and their arbitrarily inhomogeneous distributions in space. Here, we propose InfoMetaGen, a universal generative model for information metamaterial design, which combines a pre-trained foundation model with lightweight functional adapters to intelligently generate artificial structures on-demand spanning from meta-atoms to arbitrary space coding patterns. In contrast to conventional intelligent metamaterial design methods that require training dedicated models for specific functionalities, InfoMetaGen enables a single universal generative model capable of switching across diverse functionalities by fine-tuning the lightweight adapters, significantly improving both efficiency and generalizability. Experimental results demonstrate that InfoMetaGen can not only accelerate the diverse discovery of new metamaterials, but also achieve breakthroughs in metamaterial performance. This work fills the gap of universal generative framework in designing artificial materials, and opens up unprecedented opportunities to expand the capability of generative models from the passive discovery of microscopic natural material to the active creation of macroscopic artificial materials.

Analytical approach for pure high, even-order dispersion solitons

We theoretically solve the nonlinear Schrödinger equation describing the propagation of pure high, even order dispersion (PHEODs) solitons by variational approach. The Lagrangian for nonlinear pulse transmission systems with each dispersion order are given and the analytical solutions of PHEOD soltions are obtained and compared with the numerical results. It is shown that the variational results approximate very well for lower orders of dispersion ($\le 8$) and get worst as the order increasing. In addition, using the linear stability analysis, we demonstrate that all PHEOD solitons are stable and obtain the soliton internal modes that accompany soliton transmission. These results are helpful for the application of PHEOD solitons in high energy lasers.
