Decoupling heat and electricity: A thermal invisible gateway

The Wiedemann-Franz law couples electrical and thermal conductivity, making high electrical conduction with low thermal conduction a major challenge. To overcome this, we designed an active thermal metasurface (ATMS) - based thermal invisible gateway that decouples thermal and electrical paths. Built on a copper substrate with a dumbbell-shaped bridge, the structure suppresses heat flow via directional compensation while allowing unimpeded electrical conduction. Room-temperature experiments show an effective thermal conductivity below 10^-3 W m^-1 K^-1 (near zero, air-like insulation) and an electrical conductivity up to 2.8x10^7 S m^-1 (metal-level). Unlike conventional material-modification approaches, our work uses macroscopic structural design to break the intrinsic coupling, offering a promising solution for applications like on-chip interconnects and wearable electronics.

Compression as Adaptation: Implicit Visual Representation with Diffusion Foundation Models

Modern visual generative models acquire rich visual knowledge through large-scale training, yet existing visual representations (such as pixels, latents, or tokens) remain external to the model and cannot directly exploit this knowledge for compact storage or reuse. In this work, we introduce a new visual representation framework that encodes a signal as a function, which is parametrized by low-rank adaptations attached to a frozen visual generative model. Such implicit representations of visual signals, \textit{e.g.}, an 81-frame video, can further be hashed into a single compact vector, achieving strong perceptual video compression at extremely low bitrates. Beyond basic compression, the functional nature of this representation enables inference-time scaling and control, allowing additional refinement on the compression performance. More broadly, as the implicit representations directly act as a function of the generation process, this suggests a unified framework bridging visual compression and generation.

Efficient 3D Content Reconstruction and Generation

Automatic 3D content creation seeks to replace labor-intensive modeling and scanning pipelines with systems that can synthesize or recover 3D assets directly from text or images. Its applications span video games, virtual reality, robotics, and simulation, enabling rapid asset prototyping, diverse interactive world generation, and efficient 3D data collection for training foundation models. Contemporary solutions largely follow two complementary paradigms: (i) text- or image-to-3D generation, which learns priors over 3D geometry and appearance to create novel assets from natural language or a single view image; and (ii) 3D reconstruction, which estimates camera poses and geometry from RGB images. This thesis advances both directions. On the generation side, I introduce Instant3D, which combines multi-view diffusion with feed-forward sparse-view 3D reconstruction to produce high-quality assets in 5-20 seconds. On the reconstruction side, I develop FastMap, a structure-from-motion pipeline that achieves up to 10x speedup over prior state-of-the-art by using first-order optimization with fused GPU kernels extensively, while maintaining comparable pose accuracy and downstream novel view synthesis quality.

Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 Technical Report

We present Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0, a suite of high-compression Variational Autoencoders (VAEs) that achieve significant advances in both reconstruction fidelity and diffusability. To address the reconstruction bottlenecks of high compression, we adopt an improved architecture featuring Global Skip Connections (GSC) and expanded latent channels. Moreover, we scale training to billions of images and incorporate a synthetic rendering engine to improve performance in text-rich scenarios. To tackle the convergence challenges of high-dimensional latent space, we implement an enhanced semantic alignment strategy to make the latent space highly amenable to diffusion modeling. To optimize computational efficiency, we leverage an asymmetric and attention-free encoder-decoder backbone to minimize encoding overhead. We present a comprehensive evaluation of Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 on public reconstruction benchmarks. To evaluate performance in text-rich scenarios, we propose OmniDoc-TokenBench, a new benchmark comprising a diverse collection of real-world documents coupled with specialized OCR-based evaluation metrics. Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction performance, demonstrating exceptional capabilities in both general domains and text-rich scenarios at high compression ratio. Furthermore, downstream DiT experiments reveal our models possess superior diffusability, significantly accelerating convergence compared to existing high-compression baselines. These establish Qwen-Image-VAE-2.0 as a leading model with high compression, superior reconstruction, and exceptional diffusability.

Qwen-Image-2.0 Technical Report

We present Qwen-Image-2.0, an omni-capable image generation foundation model that unifies high-fidelity generation and precise image editing within a single framework. Despite recent progress, existing models still struggle with ultra-long text rendering, multilingual typography, high-resolution photorealism, robust instruction following, and efficient deployment, especially in text-rich and compositionally complex scenarios. Qwen-Image-2.0 addresses these challenges by coupling Qwen3-VL as the condition encoder with a Multimodal Diffusion Transformer for joint condition-target modeling, supported by large-scale data curation and a customized multi-stage training pipeline. This enables strong multimodal understanding while preserving flexible generation and editing capabilities. The model supports instructions of up to 1K tokens for generating text-rich content such as slides, posters, infographics, and comics, while significantly improving multilingual text fidelity and typography. It also enhances photorealistic generation with richer details, more realistic textures, and coherent lighting, and follows complex prompts more reliably across diverse styles. Extensive human evaluations show that Qwen-Image-2.0 substantially outperforms previous Qwen-Image models in both generation and editing, marking a step toward more general, reliable, and practical image generation foundation models.

Towards High-Fidelity CAD Generation via LLM-Driven Program Generation and Text-Based B-Rep Primitive Grounding

The field of Computer-Aided Design (CAD) generation has made significant progress in recent years. Existing methods typically fall into two separate categories: parametric CAD modeling and direct boundary representation (B-Rep) synthesis. In modern feature-based CAD systems, parametric modeling and B-Rep are inherently intertwined, as advanced parametric operations (e.g., fillet and chamfer) require explicit selection of B-Rep geometric primitives, and the B-Rep itself is derived from parametric operations. Consequently, this paradigm gap remains a critical factor limiting AI-driven CAD modeling for complex industrial product design. This paper presents FutureCAD, a novel text-to-CAD framework that leverages large language models (LLMs) and a B-Rep grounding transformer (BRepGround) for high-fidelity CAD generation. Our method generates executable CadQuery scripts, and introduces a text-based query mechanism that enables the LLM to specify geometric selections via natural language, which BRepGround then grounds to the target primitives. To train our framework, we construct a new dataset comprising real-world CAD models. For the LLM, we apply supervised fine-tuning (SFT) to establish fundamental CAD generation capabilities, followed by reinforcement learning (RL) to improve generalization. Experiments show that FutureCAD achieves state-of-the-art CAD generation performance. Code and dataset are available at: https://github.com/JohanStackk/FutureCAD

Virtual boundary integral neural network for three-dimensional exterior acoustic problems

This paper presents a virtual boundary integral neural network (VBINN) for exterior acoustic problems in three dimensions. The method introduces a virtual boundary inside the scatterer or vibrating body and represents the associated source density with a neural network. Coupled with the acoustic fundamental solution, this representation satisfies the Sommerfeld radiation condition by construction and enables direct evaluation of the acoustic pressure and its normal derivative at arbitrary field points. Because the integration surface is separated from the physical boundary, the formulation avoids the singular and near singular kernel evaluations associated with coincident source and collocation points in conventional boundary integral learning methods. To reduce sensitivity to boundary placement, the geometric parameters of the virtual boundary are optimized jointly with the source density during training. Numerical examples for acoustic scattering, multiple body interaction, and underwater acoustic propagation show close agreement with analytical solutions and COMSOL results, and the Burton Miller extension further improves stability near characteristic frequencies. These results demonstrate the potential of VBINN for exterior acoustic analysis in three dimensions.

SAVE: A Generalizable Framework for Multi-Condition Single-Cell Generation with Gene Block Attention

Modeling single-cell gene expression across diverse biological and technical conditions is crucial for characterizing cellular states and simulating unseen scenarios. Existing methods often treat genes as independent tokens, overlooking their high-level biological relationships and leading to poor performance. We introduce SAVE, a unified generative framework based on conditional Transformers for multi-condition single-cell modeling. SAVE leverages a coarse-grained representation by grouping semantically related genes into blocks, capturing higher-order dependencies among gene modules. A Flow Matching mechanism and condition-masking strategy further enhance flexible simulation and enable generalization to unseen condition combinations. We evaluate SAVE on a range of benchmarks, including conditional generation, batch effect correction, and perturbation prediction. SAVE consistently outperforms state-of-the-art methods in generation fidelity and extrapolative generalization, especially in low-resource or combinatorially held-out settings. Overall, SAVE offers a scalable and generalizable solution for modeling complex single-cell data, with broad utility in virtual cell synthesis and biological interpretation. When Slower Isn't Truer: Inverse Scaling Law of Truthfulness in Multimodal Reasoning

Reasoning models have attracted increasing attention for their ability to tackle complex tasks, embodying the System II (slow thinking) paradigm in contrast to System I (fast, intuitive responses). Yet a key question remains: Does slower reasoning necessarily lead to more truthful answers? Our findings suggest otherwise. We conduct the first systematic study of the inverse scaling law in slow-thinking paradigms for multimodal reasoning. We find that when confronted with incomplete or misleading visual inputs, slow-thinking models are more prone to fabricating plausible yet false details to justify untruthful reasoning. To analyze this behavior, we construct a 5,000-sample hierarchical prompt dataset annotated by 50 human participants. The prompts progressively increase in complexity, revealing a consistent pattern: slower reasoning models tend to follow depth-first search (DFS) thinking, persistently exploring flawed premises, while faster chat models favor breadth-first search (BFS) inference, showing greater caution under uncertainty. These findings reveal a critical vulnerability of reasoning models: while effective in structured domains such as math, their DFS-style reasoning becomes fragile when confronted with ambiguous, multimodal inputs.

Giving Faces Their Feelings Back: Explicit Emotion Control for Feedforward Single-Image 3D Head Avatars

We present a framework for explicit emotion control in feed-forward, single-image 3D head avatar reconstruction. Unlike existing pipelines where emotion is implicitly entangled with geometry or appearance, we treat emotion as a first-class control signal that can be manipulated independently and consistently across identities. Our method injects emotion into existing feed-forward architectures via a dual-path modulation mechanism without modifying their core design. Geometry modulation performs emotion-conditioned normalization in the original parametric space, disentangling emotional state from speech-driven articulation, while appearance modulation captures identity-aware, emotion-dependent visual cues beyond geometry. To enable learning under this setting, we construct a time-synchronized, emotion-consistent multi-identity dataset by transferring aligned emotional dynamics across identities. Integrated into multiple state-of-the-art backbones, our framework preserves reconstruction and reenactment fidelity while enabling controllable emotion transfer, disentangled manipulation, and smooth emotion interpolation, advancing expressive and scalable 3D head avatars.

CoD-Lite: Real-Time Diffusion-Based Generative Image Compression

Recent advanced diffusion methods typically derive strong generative priors by scaling diffusion transformers. However, scaling fails to generalize when adapted for real-time compression scenarios that demand lightweight models. In this paper, we explore the design of real-time and lightweight diffusion codecs by addressing two pivotal questions. First, does diffusion pre-training benefit lightweight diffusion codecs? Through systematic analysis, we find that generation-oriented pre-training is less effective at small model scales whereas compression-oriented pre-training yields consistently better performance. Second, are transformers essential? We find that while global attention is crucial for standard generation, lightweight convolutions suffice for compression-oriented diffusion when paired with distillation. Guided by these findings, we establish a one-step lightweight convolution diffusion codec that achieves real-time $60$~FPS encoding and $42$~FPS decoding at 1080p. Further enhanced by distillation and adversarial learning, the proposed codec reduces bitrate by 85\% at a comparable FID to MS-ILLM, bridging the gap between generative compression and practical real-time deployment. Decoding the Delta: Unifying Remote Sensing Change Detection and Understanding with Multimodal Large Language Models

While Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) excel in general vision-language tasks, their application to remote sensing change understanding is hindered by a fundamental "temporal blindness". Existing architectures lack intrinsic mechanisms for multi-temporal contrastive reasoning and struggle with precise spatial grounding. To address this, we first introduce Delta-QA, a comprehensive benchmark comprising 180k visual question-answering samples. Delta-QA unifies pixel-level segmentation and visual question answering across bi- and tri-temporal scenarios, structuring change interpretation into four progressive cognitive dimensions. Methodologically, we propose Delta-LLaVA, a novel MLLM framework explicitly tailored for multi-temporal remote sensing interpretation. It overcomes the limitations of naive feature concatenation through three core innovations: a Change-Enhanced Attention module that systematically isolates and amplifies visual differences, a Change-SEG module utilizing Change Prior Embedding to extract differentiable difference features as input for the LLM, and Local Causal Attention to prevent cross-temporal contextual leakage. Extensive experiments demonstrate that Delta-LLaVA decisively outperforms leading generalist MLLMs and specialized segmentation models in complex change deduction and high-precision boundary localization, establishing a unified framework for earth observation intelligence.

Direct Segmentation without Logits Optimization for Training-Free Open-Vocabulary Semantic Segmentation

Open-vocabulary semantic segmentation (OVSS) aims to segment arbitrary category regions in images using open-vocabulary prompts, necessitating that existing methods possess pixel-level vision-language alignment capability. Typically, this capability involves computing the cosine similarity, \ie, logits, between visual and linguistic features, and minimizing the distribution discrepancy between the logits and the ground truth (GT) to generate optimal logits that are subsequently used to construct segmentation maps, yet it depends on time-consuming iterative training or model-specific attention modulation. In this work, we propose a more direct approach that eschews the logits-optimization process by directly deriving an analytic solution for the segmentation map. We posit a key hypothesis: the distribution discrepancy encodes semantic information; specifically, this discrepancy exhibits consistency across patches belonging to the same category but inconsistency across different categories. Based on this hypothesis, we directly utilize the analytic solution of this distribution discrepancy as the semantic maps. In other words, we reformulate the optimization of the distribution discrepancy as deriving its analytic solution, thereby eliminating time-consuming iterative training, freeing us from model-specific attention modulation, and achieving state-of-the-art performance on eight benchmark datasets.

Bringing Your Portrait to 3D Presence

We present a unified framework for reconstructing animatable 3D human avatars from a single portrait across head, half-body, and full-body inputs. Our method tackles three bottlenecks: pose- and framing-sensitive feature representations, limited scalable data, and unreliable proxy-mesh estimation. We introduce a Dual-UV representation that maps image features to a canonical UV space via Core-UV and Shell-UV branches, eliminating pose- and framing-induced token shifts. We also build a factorized synthetic data manifold combining 2D generative diversity with geometry-consistent 3D renderings, supported by a training scheme that improves realism and identity consistency. A robust proxy-mesh tracker maintains stability under partial visibility. Together, these components enable strong in-the-wild generalization. Trained only on half-body synthetic data, our model achieves state-of-the-art head and upper-body reconstruction and competitive full-body results. Extensive experiments and analyses further validate the effectiveness of our approach.

AutoRegressive Generation with B-rep Holistic Token Sequence Representation

Previous representation and generation approaches for the B-rep relied on graph-based representations that disentangle geometric and topological features through decoupled computational pipelines, thereby precluding the application of sequence-based generative frameworks, such as transformer architectures that have demonstrated remarkable performance. In this paper, we propose BrepARG, the first attempt to encode B-rep's geometry and topology into a holistic token sequence representation, enabling sequence-based B-rep generation with an autoregressive architecture. Specifically, BrepARG encodes B-rep into 3 types of tokens: geometry and position tokens representing geometric features, and face index tokens representing topology. Then the holistic token sequence is constructed hierarchically, starting with constructing the geometry blocks (i.e., faces and edges) using the above tokens, followed by geometry block sequencing. Finally, we assemble the holistic sequence representation for the entire B-rep. We also construct a transformer-based autoregressive model that learns the distribution over holistic token sequences via next-token prediction, using a multi-layer decoder-only architecture with causal masking. Experiments demonstrate that BrepARG achieves state-of-the-art (SOTA) performance. BrepARG validates the feasibility of representing B-rep as holistic token sequences, opening new directions for B-rep generation.

Divide, then Ground: Adapting Frame Selection to Query Types for Long-Form Video Understanding

The application of Large Multimodal Models (LMMs) to long-form video understanding is constrained by limited context lengths and the computationally prohibitive cost of processing dense video tokens. Consequently, recent research has focused on query-aware frame selection, methods that often incur significant computational overhead. This paper challenges the assumption that such complex search mechanisms are universally necessary. We first identify and validate a query typology distinguishing between global query and localized query. We demonstrate that while uniform sampling is both effective and efficient for global queries, localized queries indeed necessitate query-aware selection for optimal performance. Building on this insight, we propose DIG, a training-free frame selection framework that adapts its strategy based on the query type. Specifically,DIG employs efficient uniform sampling for global queries while activating a specialized pipeline to extract query-relevant frames for localized queries. Experiments on three long-form video understanding benchmarks demonstrate that DIG consistently outperforms existing baselines and robustly improves LMM performance, even when scaling the input frame count to 256.

UniFluids: Unified Neural Operator Learning with Conditional Flow-matching

Partial differential equation (PDE) simulation holds extensive significance in scientific research. Currently, the integration of deep neural networks to learn solution operators of PDEs has introduced great potential. In this paper, we present UniFluids, a conditional flow-matching framework that harnesses the scalability of diffusion Transformer to unify learning of solution operators across diverse PDEs with varying dimensionality and physical variables. Unlike the autoregressive PDE foundation models, UniFluids adopts flow-matching to achieve parallel sequence generation, making it the first such approach for unified operator learning. Specifically, the introduction of a unified four-dimensional spatiotemporal representation for the heterogeneous PDE datasets enables joint training and conditional encoding. Furthermore, we find the effective dimension of the PDE dataset is much lower than its patch dimension. We thus employ $x$-prediction in the flow-matching operator learning, which is verified to significantly improve prediction accuracy. We conduct a large-scale evaluation of UniFluids on several PDE datasets covering spatial dimensions 1D, 2D and 3D. Experimental results show that UniFluids achieves strong prediction accuracy and demonstrates good scalability and cross-scenario generalization capability. The code will be released later.

CoD: A Diffusion Foundation Model for Image Compression

Existing diffusion codecs typically build on text-to-image diffusion foundation models like Stable Diffusion. However, text conditioning is suboptimal from a compression perspective, hindering the potential of downstream diffusion codecs, particularly at ultra-low bitrates. To address it, we introduce \textbf{CoD}, the first \textbf{Co}mpression-oriented \textbf{D}iffusion foundation model, trained from scratch to enable end-to-end optimization of both compression and generation. CoD is not a fixed codec but a general foundation model designed for various diffusion-based codecs. It offers several advantages: \textbf{High compression efficiency}, replacing Stable Diffusion with CoD in downstream codecs like DiffC achieves SOTA results, especially at ultra-low bitrates (e.g., 0.0039 bpp); \textbf{Low-cost and reproducible training}, 300$\times$ faster training than Stable Diffusion ($\sim$ 20 vs. $\sim$ 6,250 A100 GPU days) on entirely open image-only datasets; \textbf{Providing new insights}, e.g., We find pixel-space diffusion can achieve VTM-level PSNR with high perceptual quality and can outperform GAN-based codecs using fewer parameters. We hope CoD lays the foundation for future diffusion codec research. Codes are released at https://github.com/microsoft/GenCodec/tree/main/CoD.
