Clusterability-Based Assessment of Potentially Noisy Views for Multi-View Clustering

In multi-view clustering, the quality of different views may vary substantially, and low-quality or degraded views can impair overall clustering performance. However, existing studies mainly address this issue within the clustering process through view weighting or noise-robust optimization, while paying limited attention to data-level assessment before clustering. In this paper, we study the problem of pre-clustering noisy-view analysis in multi-view data from a clusterability perspective. To this end, we propose a Multi-View Clusterability Score (MVCS), which quantifies the strength of latent cluster-related structures in multi-view data through three complementary components: per-view structural clusterability, joint-space clusterability, and cross-view neighborhood consistency. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first clusterability score specifically designed for multi-view data. We further use it to perform potentially noisy view analysis and noisy-view detection before clustering. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that noisy views can significantly degrade clustering performance, and that, compared with existing clusterability measures designed for single-view data, the proposed method more effectively supports noisy-view analysis and detection.

MsFormer: Enabling Robust Predictive Maintenance Services for Industrial Devices

Providing reliable predictive maintenance is a critical industrial AI service essential for ensuring the high availability of manufacturing devices. Existing deep-learning methods present competitive results on such tasks but lack a general service-oriented framework to capture complex dependencies in industrial IoT sensor data. While Transformer-based models show strong sequence modeling capabilities, their direct deployment as robust AI services faces significant bottlenecks. Specifically, streaming sensor data collected in real-world service environments often exhibits multi-scale temporal correlations driven by machine working principles. Besides, the datasets available for training time-to-failure predictive services are typically limited in size. These issues pose significant challenges for directly applying existing models as robust predictive services. To address these challenges, we propose MsFormer, a lightweight Multi-scale Transformer designed as a unified AI service model for reliable industrial predictive maintenance. MsFormer incorporates a Multi-scale Sampling (MS) module and a tailored position encoding mechanism to capture sequential correlations across multi-streaming service data. Additionally, to accommodate data-scarce service environments, MsFormer adopts a lightweight attention mechanism with straightforward pooling operations instead of self-attention. Extensive experiments on real-world datasets demonstrate that the proposed framework achieves significant performance improvements over state-of-the-art methods. Furthermore, MsFormer outperforms across industrial devices and operating conditions, demonstrating strong generalizability while maintaining a highly reliable Quality of Service (QoS).

Time Series Reasoning via Process-Verifiable Thinking Data Synthesis and Scheduling for Tailored LLM Reasoning

Time series is a pervasive data type across various application domains, rendering the reasonable solving of diverse time series tasks a long-standing goal. Recent advances in large language models (LLMs), especially their reasoning abilities unlocked through reinforcement learning (RL), have opened new opportunities for tackling tasks with long Chain-of-Thought (CoT) reasoning. However, leveraging LLM reasoning for time series remains in its infancy, hindered by the absence of carefully curated time series CoT data for training, limited data efficiency caused by underexplored data scheduling, and the lack of RL algorithms tailored for exploiting such time series CoT data. In this paper, we introduce VeriTime, a framework that tailors LLMs for time series reasoning through data synthesis, data scheduling, and RL training. First, we propose a data synthesis pipeline that constructs a TS-text multimodal dataset with process-verifiable annotations. Second, we design a data scheduling mechanism that arranges training samples according to a principled hierarchy of difficulty and task taxonomy. Third, we develop a two-stage reinforcement finetuning featuring fine-grained, multi-objective rewards that leverage verifiable process-level CoT data. Extensive experiments show that VeriTime substantially boosts LLM performance across diverse time series reasoning tasks. Notably, it enables compact 3B, 4B models to achieve reasoning capabilities on par with or exceeding those of larger proprietary LLMs.

An Investigation into the Applicability of Friction Velocity Estimation Methods for the Channel with A Deposit Body

This study investigates how the deposit body influences friction characteristics by altering local flow fields, which is closely related to bed shear stress. Using generalized flume experiments, the study assesses the applicability of classical uniform flow friction models in deposit body river sections, revealing frictional changes induced by flow field non-uniformity. Initially, based on \( \frac{u_*}{\sqrt{\overline{w'^2}}} = 0.85 \sim 1.15 \) under uniform flow conditions as the judgment basis, the reliability of the classical model is verified. Four models are then applied to estimate near-bed friction velocity in deposit body sections. Results show a significant alignment between the longitudinal velocity gradient and the peak friction velocity derived from the turbulent kinetic energy method (TKE). Dimensional analysis of friction indicators reveals that: (a) friction velocity is primarily influenced by turbulence intensity, with constricted and narrowed sections resembling uniform flow, while the expansion section forms a peak; (b) models incorporating flow field fluctuations (TKE, Vertical Turbulence Kinetic Energy (TKE w'), Reynolds shear stress method (RSS)) effectively capture the impact of non-uniform flow fields on friction characteristics; (c) when energy states are low or when deposit body proportions are large, the deposit body's resistance ratio increases, and peak friction velocity rises. This study provides theoretical insights into friction estimation and sediment transport in non-uniform flow fields of deposit bodies.

Interpretable Fair Clustering

Fair clustering has gained increasing attention in recent years, especially in applications involving socially sensitive attributes. However, existing fair clustering methods often lack interpretability, limiting their applicability in high-stakes scenarios where understanding the rationale behind clustering decisions is essential. In this work, we address this limitation by proposing an interpretable and fair clustering framework, which integrates fairness constraints into the structure of decision trees. Our approach constructs interpretable decision trees that partition the data while ensuring fair treatment across protected groups. To further enhance the practicality of our framework, we also introduce a variant that requires no fairness hyperparameter tuning, achieved through post-pruning a tree constructed without fairness constraints. Extensive experiments on both real-world and synthetic datasets demonstrate that our method not only delivers competitive clustering performance and improved fairness, but also offers additional advantages such as interpretability and the ability to handle multiple sensitive attributes. These strengths enable our method to perform robustly under complex fairness constraints, opening new possibilities for equitable and transparent clustering.

Spatio-Temporal Parallelism for Diffusion Model Inference on Heterogeneous Multi-GPU Systems

The widespread adoption of diffusion models for image generation necessitates efficient parallel inference to manage their substantial computational overhead. However, current parallel inference paradigms primarily target homogeneous clusters, often failing to maintain high efficiency in realistic, heterogeneous multi-GPU environments where hardware disparities and fluctuating background workloads cause severe straggler effects. This paper introduces Orchestra, a robust framework that orchestrates fine-grained parallelism across both temporal and spatial dimensions to harmonize computational loads in such settings. Temporally, Orchestra employs a novel computation-aware step allocator using a tiered step reduction strategy, intelligently pruning denoising steps on slower devices after warmup phases and execution synchronization. Spatially, Orchestra performs an elastic patch parallelism mechanism which adaptively adjusts the spatial workload intensity by assigning non-uniform image patches tailored to GPUs according to their computational capability. Extensive experiments on load-imbalanced and heterogeneous clusters validate Orchestra's efficacy in mitigating performance bottlenecks. Compared to patch parallelism, a state-of-the-art diffusion inference framework, our method reduces end-to-end latency by up to 45% and significantly boosts resource utilization on heterogeneous GPUs.

Integrating Time Series into LLMs via Multi-layer Steerable Embedding Fusion for Enhanced Forecasting

Time series (TS) data are ubiquitous across various application areas, rendering time series forecasting (TSF) a fundamental task. With the astounding advances in large language models (LLMs), a variety of methods have been developed to adapt LLMs for time series forecasting. Despite unlocking the potential of LLMs in comprehending TS data, existing methods are inherently constrained by their shallow integration of TS information, wherein LLMs typically access TS representations at shallow layers, primarily at the input layer. This causes the influence of TS representations to progressively fade in deeper layers and eventually leads to ineffective adaptation between textual embeddings and TS representations. In this paper, we propose the Multi-layer Steerable Embedding Fusion (MSEF), a novel framework that enables LLMs to directly access time series patterns at all depths, thereby mitigating the progressive loss of TS information in deeper layers. Specifically, MSEF leverages off-the-shelf time series foundation models to extract semantically rich embeddings, which are fused with intermediate text representations across LLM layers via layer-specific steering vectors. These steering vectors are designed to continuously optimize the alignment between time series and textual modalities and facilitate a layer-specific adaptation mechanism that ensures efficient few-shot learning capabilities. Experimental results on seven benchmarks demonstrate significant performance improvements by MSEF compared with baselines, with an average reduction of 31.8% in terms of MSE. The code is available at https://github.com/One1sAll/MSEF.

Adversarial Fair Multi-View Clustering

Cluster analysis is a fundamental problem in data mining and machine learning. In recent years, multi-view clustering has attracted increasing attention due to its ability to integrate complementary information from multiple views. However, existing methods primarily focus on clustering performance, while fairness-a critical concern in human-centered applications-has been largely overlooked. Although recent studies have explored group fairness in multi-view clustering, most methods impose explicit regularization on cluster assignments, relying on the alignment between sensitive attributes and the underlying cluster structure. However, this assumption often fails in practice and can degrade clustering performance. In this paper, we propose an adversarial fair multi-view clustering (AFMVC) framework that integrates fairness learning into the representation learning process. Specifically, our method employs adversarial training to fundamentally remove sensitive attribute information from learned features, ensuring that the resulting cluster assignments are unaffected by it. Furthermore, we theoretically prove that aligning view-specific clustering assignments with a fairness-invariant consensus distribution via KL divergence preserves clustering consistency without significantly compromising fairness, thereby providing additional theoretical guarantees for our framework. Extensive experiments on data sets with fairness constraints demonstrate that AFMVC achieves superior fairness and competitive clustering performance compared to existing multi-view clustering and fairness-aware clustering methods.

Enhancing LLM Reasoning for Time Series Classification by Tailored Thinking and Fused Decision

The reasoning capabilities of large language models (LLMs) have significantly advanced their performance by enabling in-depth understanding of diverse tasks. With growing interest in applying LLMs to the time series domain, this has proven nontrivial, as evidenced by the limited efficacy of straightforwardly adapting text-domain reasoning techniques. Although recent work has shown promise in several time series tasks, further leveraging advancements in LLM reasoning remains under-explored for time series classification (TSC) tasks, despite their prevalence and significance in many real-world applications. In this paper, we propose ReasonTSC, a novel framework designed to effectively leverage LLM reasoning for time series classification through both a multi-turn reasoning and a fused decision-making strategy tailored to TSC. Rather than straightforwardly applying existing reasoning techniques or relying solely on LLMs' built-in reasoning capabilities, ReasonTSC first steers the model to think over the essential characteristics of time series data. Next, it integrates predictions and confidence scores from plug-in classifiers, e.g., domain-specific time series models, as in-context examples. Finally, ReasonTSC guides the LLM through a structured reasoning process: it evaluates the initial assessment, backtracks to consider alternative hypotheses, and compares their merits before arriving at a final classification. Extensive experiments and systematic ablation studies demonstrate that ReasonTSC consistently outperforms both existing time series reasoning baselines and plug-in models, and is even capable of identifying and correcting plug-in models' false predictions.

Triple Path Enhanced Neural Architecture Search for Multimodal Fake News Detection

Multimodal fake news detection has become one of the most crucial issues on social media platforms. Although existing methods have achieved advanced performance, two main challenges persist: (1) Under-performed multimodal news information fusion due to model architecture solidification, and (2) weak generalization ability on partial-modality contained fake news. To meet these challenges, we propose a novel and flexible triple path enhanced neural architecture search model MUSE. MUSE includes two dynamic paths for detecting partial-modality contained fake news and a static path for exploiting potential multimodal correlations. Experimental results show that MUSE achieves stable performance improvement over the baselines.

Sailor: Open Language Models for South-East Asia

We present Sailor, a family of open language models ranging from 0.5B to 7B parameters, tailored for South-East Asian (SEA) languages. These models are continually pre-trained from Qwen1.5, a great language model for multilingual use cases. From Qwen1.5, Sailor models accept 200B to 400B tokens, primarily covering the languages of English, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Malay, and Lao. The training leverages several techniques, including BPE dropout for improving the model robustness, aggressive data cleaning and deduplication, and small proxy models to optimize data mixture. Experimental results on four typical tasks indicate that Sailor models demonstrate strong performance across different benchmarks, including commonsense reasoning, question answering, reading comprehension and examination. Embracing the open-source spirit, we share our insights through this report to spark a wider interest in developing large language models for multilingual use cases.
