TextSleuth: Towards Explainable Tampered Text Detection

Recently, tampered text detection has attracted increasing attention due to its essential role in information security. Although existing methods can detect the tampered text region, the interpretation of such detection remains unclear, making the prediction unreliable. To address this problem, we propose to explain the basis of tampered text detection with natural language via large multimodal models. To fill the data gap for this task, we propose a large-scale, comprehensive dataset, ETTD, which contains both pixel-level annotations for tampered text region and natural language annotations describing the anomaly of the tampered text. Multiple methods are employed to improve the quality of the proposed data. For example, elaborate queries are introduced to generate high-quality anomaly descriptions with GPT4o. A fused mask prompt is proposed to reduce confusion when querying GPT4o to generate anomaly descriptions. To automatically filter out low-quality annotations, we also propose to prompt GPT4o to recognize tampered texts before describing the anomaly, and to filter out the responses with low OCR accuracy. To further improve explainable tampered text detection, we propose a simple yet effective model called TextSleuth, which achieves improved fine-grained perception and cross-domain generalization by focusing on the suspected region, with a two-stage analysis paradigm and an auxiliary grounding prompt. Extensive experiments on both the ETTD dataset and the public dataset have verified the effectiveness of the proposed methods. In-depth analysis is also provided to inspire further research. Our dataset and code will be open-source.

Attributed Graph Clustering in Collaborative Settings

Graph clustering is an unsupervised machine learning method that partitions the nodes in a graph into different groups. Despite achieving significant progress in exploiting both attributed and structured data information, graph clustering methods often face practical challenges related to data isolation. Moreover, the absence of collaborative methods for graph clustering limits their effectiveness. In this paper, we propose a collaborative graph clustering framework for attributed graphs, supporting attributed graph clustering over vertically partitioned data with different participants holding distinct features of the same data. Our method leverages a novel technique that reduces the sample space, improving the efficiency of the attributed graph clustering method. Furthermore, we compare our method to its centralized counterpart under a proximity condition, demonstrating that the successful local results of each participant contribute to the overall success of the collaboration. We fully implement our approach and evaluate its utility and efficiency by conducting experiments on four public datasets. The results demonstrate that our method achieves comparable accuracy levels to centralized attributed graph clustering methods. Our collaborative graph clustering framework provides an efficient and effective solution for graph clustering challenges related to data isolation.

CtrlNeRF: The Generative Neural Radiation Fields for the Controllable Synthesis of High-fidelity 3D-Aware Images

The neural radiance field (NERF) advocates learning the continuous representation of 3D geometry through a multilayer perceptron (MLP). By integrating this into a generative model, the generative neural radiance field (GRAF) is capable of producing images from random noise z without 3D supervision. In practice, the shape and appearance are modeled by z_s and z_a, respectively, to manipulate them separately during inference. However, it is challenging to represent multiple scenes using a solitary MLP and precisely control the generation of 3D geometry in terms of shape and appearance. In this paper, we introduce a controllable generative model (i.e. \textbf{CtrlNeRF}) that uses a single MLP network to represent multiple scenes with shared weights. Consequently, we manipulated the shape and appearance codes to realize the controllable generation of high-fidelity images with 3D consistency. Moreover, the model enables the synthesis of novel views that do not exist in the training sets via camera pose alteration and feature interpolation. Extensive experiments were conducted to demonstrate its superiority in 3D-aware image generation compared to its counterparts.

SoK: On the Role and Future of AIGC Watermarking in the Era of Gen-AI

The rapid advancement of AI technology, particularly in generating AI-generated content (AIGC), has transformed numerous fields, e.g., art video generation, but also brings new risks, including the misuse of AI for misinformation and intellectual property theft. To address these concerns, AIGC watermarks offer an effective solution to mitigate malicious activities. However, existing watermarking surveys focus more on traditional watermarks, overlooking AIGC-specific challenges. In this work, we propose a systematic investigation into AIGC watermarking and provide the first formal definition of AIGC watermarking. Different from previous surveys, we provide a taxonomy based on the core properties of the watermark which are summarized through comprehensive literature from various AIGC modalities. Derived from the properties, we discuss the functionality and security threats of AIGC watermarking. In the end, we thoroughly investigate the AIGC governance of different countries and practitioners. We believe this taxonomy better aligns with the practical demands for watermarking in the era of GenAI, thus providing a clearer summary of existing work and uncovering potential future research directions for the community.

Exact Quantum Algorithm for Unit Commitment Optimization based on Partially Connected Quantum Neural Networks

The quantum hybrid algorithm has become a very promising and speedily method today for solving the larger-scale optimization in the noisy intermediate-scale quantum (NISQ) era. The unit commitment (UC) problem is a fundamental problem in the power system which aims to satisfy a balance load with minimal cost. In this paper, we focus on the implement of the UC-solving by exact quantum algorithms based on the quantum neural network (QNN). This method is tested with up to 10-unit system with the balance load constraint. In order to improve the computing precision and reduce the network complexity, we suggest the knowledge-based partially connected quantum neural network (PCQNN). The results show that the exact solutions can be obtained by the improved algorithm and the depth of the quantum circuit can be reduced simultaneously.

Anomalous Proximitized Transport in Metal/Quantum Magnet Heterostructure $\rm{Bi_{2}Ir_{2}O_{7}/Yb_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}}$

Fluctuations of quantum spins play a crucial role in the emergence of exotic magnetic phases and excitations. The lack of the charge degree of freedom in insulating quantum magnets, however, precludes such fluctuations from mediating electronic transport. Here we show that the quantum fluctuations of a localized frustrated magnet induce strong proximitized charge transport of the conduction electrons in a synthetic heterostructure comprising an epitaxial $\rm{Bi_{2}Ir_{2}O_{7}}$ ultrathin film on the single crystal of $\rm{Yb_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}}$. The proximity effects are evidenced by the scaling behavior of the $\rm{Bi_{2}Ir_{2}O_{7}}$ resistance in correspondance with the dynamic scaling of the dynamic spin correlation function of $\rm{Yb_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}}$, which is a result of quantum fluctuations near a multi-phase quantum critical point. The proximitized transport in $\rm{Bi_{2}Ir_{2}O_{7}}$ can be effectively tuned by magnetic field through suppressing the quantum spin fluctuations as well as inducing transitions via magnetic anisotropy in $\rm{Yb_{2}Ti_{2}O_{7}}$. Our work establishes a new pathway for harnessing quantum spin fluctuations in magnetic insulators with electric transport, offering exciting prospects for potential applications in the realm of quantum spintronics.

Scaling Mesh Generation via Compressive Tokenization

We propose a compressive yet effective mesh representation, Blocked and Patchified Tokenization (BPT), facilitating the generation of meshes exceeding 8k faces. BPT compresses mesh sequences by employing block-wise indexing and patch aggregation, reducing their length by approximately 75\% compared to the original sequences. This compression milestone unlocks the potential to utilize mesh data with significantly more faces, thereby enhancing detail richness and improving generation robustness. Empowered with the BPT, we have built a foundation mesh generative model training on scaled mesh data to support flexible control for point clouds and images. Our model demonstrates the capability to generate meshes with intricate details and accurate topology, achieving SoTA performance on mesh generation and reaching the level for direct product usage.

MME-Finance: A Multimodal Finance Benchmark for Expert-level Understanding and Reasoning

In recent years, multimodal benchmarks for general domains have guided the rapid development of multimodal models on general tasks. However, the financial field has its peculiarities. It features unique graphical images (e.g., candlestick charts, technical indicator charts) and possesses a wealth of specialized financial knowledge (e.g., futures, turnover rate). Therefore, benchmarks from general fields often fail to measure the performance of multimodal models in the financial domain, and thus cannot effectively guide the rapid development of large financial models. To promote the development of large financial multimodal models, we propose MME-Finance, an bilingual open-ended and practical usage-oriented Visual Question Answering (VQA) benchmark. The characteristics of our benchmark are finance and expertise, which include constructing charts that reflect the actual usage needs of users (e.g., computer screenshots and mobile photography), creating questions according to the preferences in financial domain inquiries, and annotating questions by experts with 10+ years of experience in the financial industry. Additionally, we have developed a custom-designed financial evaluation system in which visual information is first introduced in the multi-modal evaluation process. Extensive experimental evaluations of 19 mainstream MLLMs are conducted to test their perception, reasoning, and cognition capabilities. The results indicate that models performing well on general benchmarks cannot do well on MME-Finance; for instance, the top-performing open-source and closed-source models obtain 65.69 (Qwen2VL-72B) and 63.18 (GPT-4o), respectively. Their performance is particularly poor in categories most relevant to finance, such as candlestick charts and technical indicator charts. In addition, we propose a Chinese version, which helps compare performance of MLLMs under a Chinese context.

AFBench: A Large-scale Benchmark for Airfoil Design

Data-driven generative models have emerged as promising approaches towards achieving efficient mechanical inverse design. However, due to prohibitively high cost in time and money, there is still lack of open-source and large-scale benchmarks in this field. It is mainly the case for airfoil inverse design, which requires to generate and edit diverse geometric-qualified and aerodynamic-qualified airfoils following the multimodal instructions, \emph{i.e.,} dragging points and physical parameters. This paper presents the open-source endeavors in airfoil inverse design, \emph{AFBench}, including a large-scale dataset with 200 thousand airfoils and high-quality aerodynamic and geometric labels, two novel and practical airfoil inverse design tasks, \emph{i.e.,} conditional generation on multimodal physical parameters, controllable editing, and comprehensive metrics to evaluate various existing airfoil inverse design methods. Our aim is to establish \emph{AFBench} as an ecosystem for training and evaluating airfoil inverse design methods, with a specific focus on data-driven controllable inverse design models by multimodal instructions capable of bridging the gap between ideas and execution, the academic research and industrial applications. We have provided baseline models, comprehensive experimental observations, and analysis to accelerate future research. Our baseline model is trained on an RTX 3090 GPU within 16 hours. The codebase, datasets and benchmarks will be available at \url{https://hitcslj.github.io/afbench/}.

GLOCALFAIR: Jointly Improving Global and Local Group Fairness in Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) has emerged as a prospective solution for collaboratively learning a shared model across clients without sacrificing their data privacy. However, the federated learned model tends to be biased against certain demographic groups (e.g., racial and gender groups) due to the inherent FL properties, such as data heterogeneity and party selection. Unlike centralized learning, mitigating bias in FL is particularly challenging as private training datasets and their sensitive attributes are typically not directly accessible. Most prior research in this field only focuses on global fairness while overlooking the local fairness of individual clients. Moreover, existing methods often require sensitive information about the client's local datasets to be shared, which is not desirable. To address these issues, we propose GLOCALFAIR, a client-server co-design fairness framework that can jointly improve global and local group fairness in FL without the need for sensitive statistics about the client's private datasets. Specifically, we utilize constrained optimization to enforce local fairness on the client side and adopt a fairness-aware clustering-based aggregation on the server to further ensure the global model fairness across different sensitive groups while maintaining high utility. Experiments on two image datasets and one tabular dataset with various state-of-the-art fairness baselines show that GLOCALFAIR can achieve enhanced fairness under both global and local data distributions while maintaining a good level of utility and client fairness.

EAB-FL: Exacerbating Algorithmic Bias through Model Poisoning Attacks in Federated Learning

Federated Learning (FL) is a technique that allows multiple parties to train a shared model collaboratively without disclosing their private data. It has become increasingly popular due to its distinct privacy advantages. However, FL models can suffer from biases against certain demographic groups (e.g., racial and gender groups) due to the heterogeneity of data and party selection. Researchers have proposed various strategies for characterizing the group fairness of FL algorithms to address this issue. However, the effectiveness of these strategies in the face of deliberate adversarial attacks has not been fully explored. Although existing studies have revealed various threats (e.g., model poisoning attacks) against FL systems caused by malicious participants, their primary aim is to decrease model accuracy, while the potential of leveraging poisonous model updates to exacerbate model unfairness remains unexplored. In this paper, we propose a new type of model poisoning attack, EAB-FL, with a focus on exacerbating group unfairness while maintaining a good level of model utility. Extensive experiments on three datasets demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of our attack, even with state-of-the-art fairness optimization algorithms and secure aggregation rules employed.

TrustLLM: Trustworthiness in Large Language Models

Large language models (LLMs), exemplified by ChatGPT, have gained considerable attention for their excellent natural language processing capabilities. Nonetheless, these LLMs present many challenges, particularly in the realm of trustworthiness. Therefore, ensuring the trustworthiness of LLMs emerges as an important topic. This paper introduces TrustLLM, a comprehensive study of trustworthiness in LLMs, including principles for different dimensions of trustworthiness, established benchmark, evaluation, and analysis of trustworthiness for mainstream LLMs, and discussion of open challenges and future directions. Specifically, we first propose a set of principles for trustworthy LLMs that span eight different dimensions. Based on these principles, we further establish a benchmark across six dimensions including truthfulness, safety, fairness, robustness, privacy, and machine ethics. We then present a study evaluating 16 mainstream LLMs in TrustLLM, consisting of over 30 datasets. Our findings firstly show that in general trustworthiness and utility (i.e., functional effectiveness) are positively related. Secondly, our observations reveal that proprietary LLMs generally outperform most open-source counterparts in terms of trustworthiness, raising concerns about the potential risks of widely accessible open-source LLMs. However, a few open-source LLMs come very close to proprietary ones. Thirdly, it is important to note that some LLMs may be overly calibrated towards exhibiting trustworthiness, to the extent that they compromise their utility by mistakenly treating benign prompts as harmful and consequently not responding. Finally, we emphasize the importance of ensuring transparency not only in the models themselves but also in the technologies that underpin trustworthiness. Knowing the specific trustworthy technologies that have been employed is crucial for analyzing their effectiveness.

A Certified Robust Watermark For Large Language Models

The effectiveness of watermark algorithms in AI-generated text identification has garnered significant attention. Concurrently, an increasing number of watermark algorithms have been proposed to enhance the robustness against various watermark attacks. However, these watermark algorithms remain susceptible to adaptive or unseen attacks. To address this issue, to our best knowledge, we propose the first certified robust watermark algorithm for large language models based on randomized smoothing, which can provide provable guarantees for watermarked text. Specifically, we utilize two different models respectively for watermark generation and detection and add Gaussian and Uniform noise respectively in the embedding and permutation space during the training and inference stages of the watermark detector to enhance the certified robustness of our watermark detector and derive certified radius. To evaluate the empirical robustness and certified robustness of our watermark algorithm, we conducted comprehensive experiments. The results indicate that our watermark algorithm shows comparable performance to baseline algorithms while our algorithm can derive substantial certified robustness, which means that our watermark can not be removed even under significant alterations.

Optimizing Resource Allocation for Multi-modal Semantic Communication in Mobile AIGC Networks: A Diffusion-based Game Approach

Mobile Artificial Intelligence-Generated Content (AIGC) networks enable massive users to obtain customized content generation services. However, users still need to download a large number of AIGC outputs from mobile AIGC service providers, which strains communication resources and increases the risk of transmission failures. Fortunately, Semantic Communication (SemCom) can improve transmission efficiency and reliability through semantic information processing. Moreover, recent advances in Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) further enhanced the effectiveness of SemCom through its powerful generative capabilities. However, how to strike a balance between high-quality content generation and the size of semantic information transmitted is a major challenge. In this paper, we propose a Generative Diffusion Model (GDM)-based multi-modal SemCom (GM-SemCom) framework. The framework improves the accuracy of information reconstruction by integrating GDMs and multi-modal semantic information and also adopts a controllable extraction module for efficient and controllable problems of unstable data recovery and slow decoding speed in GAI-enabled SemCom. Then, we introduce a novel metric called Age of Semantic Information (AoSI) based on the concept of Age of Information (AoI) to quantify the freshness of semantic information. To address the resource trading problem within the framework, we propose a Stackelberg game model, which integrates the AoSI with psychological factors to provide a comprehensive measure of user utility. Furthermore, we propose a GDM-based algorithm to solve the game under incomplete information. Compared with the traditional deep reinforcement learning algorithms, numerical results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm converges faster and is closer to the Stackelberg equilibrium.

PVContext: Hybrid Context Model for Point Cloud Compression

Efficient storage of large-scale point cloud data has become increasingly challenging due to advancements in scanning technology. Recent deep learning techniques have revolutionized this field; However, most existing approaches rely on single-modality contexts, such as octree nodes or voxel occupancy, limiting their ability to capture information across large regions. In this paper, we propose PVContext, a hybrid context model for effective octree-based point cloud compression. PVContext comprises two components with distinct modalities: the Voxel Context, which accurately represents local geometric information using voxels, and the Point Context, which efficiently preserves global shape information from point clouds. By integrating these two contexts, we retain detailed information across large areas while controlling the context size. The combined context is then fed into a deep entropy model to accurately predict occupancy. Experimental results demonstrate that, compared to G-PCC, our method reduces the bitrate by 37.95\% on SemanticKITTI LiDAR point clouds and by 48.98\% and 36.36\% on dense object point clouds from MPEG 8i and MVUB, respectively.

Diffusion-Occ: 3D Point Cloud Completion via Occupancy Diffusion

Point clouds are crucial for capturing three-dimensional data but often suffer from incompleteness due to limitations such as resolution and occlusion. Traditional methods typically rely on point-based approaches within discriminative frameworks for point cloud completion. In this paper, we introduce \textbf{Diffusion-Occ}, a novel framework for Diffusion Point Cloud Completion. Diffusion-Occ utilizes a two-stage coarse-to-fine approach. In the first stage, the Coarse Density Voxel Prediction Network (CDNet) processes partial points to predict coarse density voxels, streamlining global feature extraction through voxel classification, as opposed to previous regression-based methods. In the second stage, we introduce the Occupancy Generation Network (OccGen), a conditional occupancy diffusion model based on a transformer architecture and enhanced by our Point-Voxel Fuse (PVF) block. This block integrates coarse density voxels with partial points to leverage both global and local features for comprehensive completion. By thresholding the occupancy field, we convert it into a complete point cloud. Additionally, our method employs diverse training mixtures and efficient diffusion parameterization to enable effective one-step sampling during both training and inference. Experimental results demonstrate that Diffusion-Occ outperforms existing discriminative and generative methods.

Object Gaussian for Monocular 6D Pose Estimation from Sparse Views

Monocular object pose estimation, as a pivotal task in computer vision and robotics, heavily depends on accurate 2D-3D correspondences, which often demand costly CAD models that may not be readily available. Object 3D reconstruction methods offer an alternative, among which recent advancements in 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) afford a compelling potential. Yet its performance still suffers and tends to overfit with fewer input views. Embracing this challenge, we introduce SGPose, a novel framework for sparse view object pose estimation using Gaussian-based methods. Given as few as ten views, SGPose generates a geometric-aware representation by starting with a random cuboid initialization, eschewing reliance on Structure-from-Motion (SfM) pipeline-derived geometry as required by traditional 3DGS methods. SGPose removes the dependence on CAD models by regressing dense 2D-3D correspondences between images and the reconstructed model from sparse input and random initialization, while the geometric-consistent depth supervision and online synthetic view warping are key to the success. Experiments on typical benchmarks, especially on the Occlusion LM-O dataset, demonstrate that SGPose outperforms existing methods even under sparse view constraints, under-scoring its potential in real-world applications.

TokenPacker: Efficient Visual Projector for Multimodal LLM

The visual projector serves as an essential bridge between the visual encoder and the Large Language Model (LLM) in a Multimodal LLM (MLLM). Typically, MLLMs adopt a simple MLP to preserve all visual contexts via one-to-one transformation. However, the visual tokens are redundant and can be considerably increased when dealing with high-resolution images, impairing the efficiency of MLLMs significantly. Some recent works have introduced resampler or abstractor to reduce the number of resulting visual tokens. Unfortunately, they fail to capture finer details and undermine the visual reasoning capabilities of MLLMs. In this work, we propose a novel visual projector, which adopts a coarse-to-fine scheme to inject the enriched characteristics to generate the condensed visual tokens. In specific, we first interpolate the visual features as a low-resolution point query, providing the overall visual representation as the foundation. Then, we introduce a region-to-point injection module that utilizes high-resolution, multi-level region-based cues as fine-grained reference keys and values, allowing them to be fully absorbed within the corresponding local context region. This step effectively updates the coarse point query, transforming it into an enriched one for the subsequent LLM reasoning. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our approach compresses the visual tokens by 75%~89%, while achieves comparable or even better performance across diverse benchmarks with significantly higher efficiency. The source codes can be found at https://github.com/CircleRadon/TokenPacker.
