From localized dryout to convective elongated vapor structures: Reynolds number effects on boiling transition in a rectangular mini-channel

Three-dimensional conjugate simulations were conducted to investigate saturated flow boiling in a rectangular mini-channel, with particular emphasis on the role of inlet Reynolds number on boiling mode selection and transition. A C++ based open-source numerical framework was employed, incorporating a physically informed multi-site nucleation model by coupling a nucleation site density correlation with a Halton-sequence based spatial allocation strategy. Two distinct Re-dependent transition pathways were identified. At low Re, boiling transition is mainly associated with localized dryout development associated with upstream active boiling and progressive downstream liquid starvation. At high Re, the transition is characterized by convective stretching and reorganization of vapor structures, through which elongated vapor slugs evolve into localized vapor films and eventually approach full surface vapor coverage. The global heat transfer characteristics and peak heat transfer capacity are further interpreted in conjunction with boiling mode transition, clarifying the respective roles of wall dryout and volumetric vapor fraction in heat transfer deterioration. Among all cases, Re=2000 provides the most favorable overall thermal response. Overall, within the rectangular mini-channel configuration and operating range considered in this study, Re is closely associated with vapor organization, boiling transition, wall dryout, and global heat transfer performance.

SeVeR: Selective Visual Exposure and Retrieval for 3D Medical Image Question Answering

Volumetric medical VQA requires reasoning over long and redundant 3D visual token sequences, especially in multi-sequence MRI where complementary modalities provide diverse diagnostic cues but expose the decoder to many repeated anatomical regions. To investigate reasoning under multi-sequence visual redundancy, we first introduce BreMRIs-VQA, a clinically curated breast MRI benchmark with 1.19M QA pairs from 71.0K sequences and 12.9K patients, covering both free-text and multiple-choice questions. We further propose SeVeR, a selective visual exposure framework that compresses dense volumes into modality-wise prototypes and retrieves complementary multi-level evidence with change-aware gated attention during decoding, trained with a marginal-utility self-consistency objective that suppresses unhelpful retrieval. Experiments on BreMRIs-VQA and public benchmarks show that SeVeR improves both discriminative and generative performance while exposing substantially fewer visual tokens.

Towards Faithful Simulation of Human Shopping Behavior

Simulating realistic user shopping behavior underpins offline evaluation and reinforcement learning in e-commerce scenarios. While recent LLM- and VLM-based simulators have made encouraging progress, reproducing a real browsing session remains difficult for two reasons. (i) Memory Challenge: a shopping session spans dozens of pages, yet existing agents either discard long-range observation histories, losing the evolving user state, or naively concatenate them, overwhelming the context window and even degrading simulation quality. (ii) Optimization Challenge: current user simulators are typically supervised to match each logged action via imitation or step-level rewards; the resulting sessions often display unrealistic patterns, such as over-exploration or excessive passivity, which per-step supervision can neither detect nor correct. To address the above challenges, we present RecVerse, a GUI-grounded simulation agent that perceives pages through screenshots and produces faithful multi-turn trajectories. For the memory challenge, RecVerse adopts a cognitive-inspired hierarchical memory: Working Memory for short-term focus, Episodic Memory for in-session traces, and Preference Memory for high-level intent, with memory updates treated as actions so that the agent adaptively learns when and what to memorize. For the optimization challenge, RecVerse is optimized with a trajectory-level RL objective that scores entire sessions, aligning both macro-level action-type distributions and micro-level shopping intent with real users. We further release USB (User Simulation Benchmark), an interactive e-commerce GUI trajectory dataset for multi-turn user simulation. Experiments show that RecVerse significantly outperforms existing baselines in both behavioral fidelity and intent consistency.

MedUAG: Unified Understanding and Generation for Medical Multimodal Models

Recent Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) are rapidly evolving into unified understanding and generation (UAG) frameworks. However, extending these unified paradigms to the medical domain is hindered by: the absence of comprehensive training and evaluation benchmarks, and the lack of broadly validated unified medical model. To address these gaps, we present a comprehensive foundation for medical UAG. First, we construct MedUAGCorpus, the largest unified medical understanding and generation dataset to date, comprising over 6 million instances across 14 imaging modalities. Second, we introduce MedUAGBench, a systematic benchmark that expands medical generation evaluation to 12 diverse tasks under standardized protocols. Finally, leveraging these resources, we develop MedUAG, an end-to-end trained unified medical model. Extensive experiments demonstrate that MedUAG achieves strong performance across a wide array of understanding and generation tasks, establishing a competitive baseline and paving the way for next-generation medical multimodal systems.

Numerical modeling and simulation on nanosecond laser-target interactions

Nanosecond lasers are widely used in industrial applications as they are relatively inexpensive, and their compactness and robustness are an advantage. Much experimental work has been carried out to understand deeper the interaction between the nanosecond laser pulses and the targets, as these are complex, transient processes with spatial inhomogeneities. Beside the experiments, the modeling and numerical simulation on the laser interaction with the target are also crucial for understanding the dynamics of laser-material interactions and for optimizing laser processing applications. In this review, the progress of numerical modeling and simulation on nanosecond laser-target interactions are summarized from the aspects of laser-target interactions and target-plasma interface, laser-plasma interactions and plasma radiation, and numerical models on different scales with artificial intelligence advancing. The laser ablation, mass and energy transfer, and mechanical coupling are discussed in the aspect of the nanosecond laser-target interactions and target-plasma interface. The plasma expansion, plasma ionization and recombination, and plasma radiation are discussed in the aspect of the nanosecond laser-plasma interactions and plasma radiation. Then the numerical advances, including microscopic approaches based on molecular dynamics, mesoscopic approaches based on kinetic and statistical physics, macroscopic approaches based on fluid dynamics, and numerical simulations with machine learning are discussed. Finally, the challenges currently being encountered by numerical modeling and simulation on nanosecond laser-target interactions and its potential development direction are considered.

BridgeAlign: Bridging Preference Alignment for Humanities and Social Sciences

While data synthesis for large language models (LLMs) is prevalent, it primarily targets domains with verifiable answers, overlooking open-ended humanities and social sciences (HSS), where nuanced quality judgments matter more than objective correctness. This makes preference alignment a natural paradigm for broad HSS tasks. Yet existing methods are either costly or not tailored to broad HSS disciplines. We thus propose BridgeAlign, among the first preference-alignment pipelines for broad HSS disciplines, with three phases: i) Seed Curation: curating HSS seed documents from web corpora via heuristic/LLM-based filtering and text refinement; ii) Preference Data Synthesis: generating preference triplets via persona-based instruction inversion with Q&A consistency checks; iii) Preference Optimization: moving beyond naive human-vs-model heuristics by first grounding preferences in HSS quality rubric, then generating transitional responses via controlled quality degradation to form near-boundary preference pairs for finer-grained quality discrimination. Aligning over 210k synthetic preference samples, BridgeAlign enables Qwen3-8B to achieve the best average across 17 benchmarks against 11 strong baselines; importantly, leading on both human-preference and knowledge-based capabilities at once, with no trade-off between them, as supported by extensive experiments and contextualized by existing theories.

DREAM Technical Report

Industrial recommender systems commonly use cascaded retrieval, ranking, and re-ranking pipelines. Although efficient, these pipelines fragment information and objectives across modules, rely on rigid rules, and have limited awareness of real-time intent, leaving session-level shifts among browsing, comparison, and purchase insufficiently addressed. We present DREAM (Developing Recommender Engine with Agentic Methods), an autonomous optimization control architecture that adds a perception-aware, orchestrable, and auditable policy layer atop existing pipelines without replacing them. DREAM has two core components. First, a three-tier Intent Engine fuses on-device signals into structured L0/L1/L2 intent representations; its edge-cloud trigger chain reduces reporting volume to approximately 8.7%. Second, a Meta Engine uses a MetaModel for layered M1-to-M2-to-M3 reasoning: intent summarization, strategy planning informed by Strategy Memory, and parameter translation. It dispatches the resulting parameters through a unified outlet with safety guardrails. A Reward Dual Loop continuously optimizes both components by combining offline simulation for strategy-space exploration with online feedback for outcome calibration, forming a cycle of generation, execution, evaluation, and experience accumulation. Large-scale A/B tests on Taobao's homepage feed show that re-ranking control alone improves IPV by 2.06%, Core IPV by 2.39%, and GMV by 0.88%. Extending control to fine ranking raises these gains to 2.71%, 3.06%, and 1.31%, respectively, while consistently improving PV by more than 1%. These gains require neither replacement of pipeline models nor compromise of serving stability, supporting agentic meta-control as a viable paradigm for industrial recommendation.

Power Stability of Finitely Generated Dynamical Frames for Positive Operators

Let \( Λ=\{λ_j\}_{j\in\mathbb N}\subset[0,1) \) be a finite union of Carleson sequences, and let \( Λ^p=\{λ_j^p\}_{j\in\mathbb N} \) for \(p>0\). We prove that \(Λ\) and \(Λ^p\) admit compatible Hartmann-type cluster decompositions and that, under the natural coordinate identification, \( H^2(Λ)=H^2(Λ^p). \) After taking account of the change in the normalization weights, this trace-space identity gives \( \operatorname{Ran}(T_Λ) = \operatorname{Ran}(T_{Λ^p}) \) for the associated weighted evaluation operators. The characterization of finitely generated dynamical frames for normal operators then implies that, for every positive operator \(A\in\mathcal B(H)\), every finite index set \(I\), and every \(p>0\), \( \{A^nf_i\}_{n\in\mathbb N,\,i\in I} \text{ is a frame for }H\) if and only if \( \{A^{pn}f_i\}_{n\in\mathbb N,\,i\in I} \text{ is a frame for }H. \) In particular, for every \(q\in\mathbb N^+\), the subfamily \( \{A^{qn}f_i\}_{n\in\mathbb N,\,i\in I} \) is still a frame, and hence every such dynamical frame has infinite excess. An example shows that the positivity assumption cannot in general be replaced by normality.

MedUP: Awakening Unified Understanding and Perception in Medical Vision-Language Models

Medical Vision-Language Models (Med-VLMs) excel at verbalizing visual content, yet precise visual perception, segmentation, and grounding remain challenging. Existing approaches either verbalize regions as coordinate strings or rely on external modules that decouple perception from understanding, creating representation gaps for region-language alignment. We present MedUP, a Med-VLM that natively unifies perception and understanding within a shared token space. At its core lies UniMedTok, a region tokenizer that encodes masks as discrete tokens in the LLM vocabulary, enabling the model to seamlessly interleave mask tokens with text. We curate UniMed-Train, a 1.84M-instance corpus spanning text-guided segmentation, region-grounded understanding, medical VQA and CoT-based segmentation, and introduce UniMed-Bench for unified evaluation. Extensive experiments show that MedUP outperforms native, agentic, and dual-decoder Med-VLMs across all tasks while remaining competitive with specialist segmentors, demonstrating the strong potential of unified understanding and perception modeling.

Can LLM design high-quality experiments? A Comprehensive and Systematic Benchmark on Autonomous Experimental Design

AI for Research (AI4Research) leverages AI to automate and improve scientific workflows. While experimental design is a critical stage of the research process, prior work has focused primarily on code implementation and execution, overlooking the importance of this stage, and no benchmark exists to evaluate AI's ability to conduct systematic experiment design. To bridge this gap, we propose SCOPE, a Scientific COmprehensive Planning Evaluation Benchmark constructed from 300 high-quality latest papers across 19 research domains from top-tier venues (e.g., ICML, NeurIPS, and ICLR),evaluating LLMs on two dimensions: High-Level planning completeness (main, ablation, and analysis experiments) and Low-Level configuration accuracy and rationality (datasets, baselines, and metrics). Benchmarking reveals three findings: (1) most LLMs cannot directly design high-quality experiments; (2) all LLMs exhibit a performance bottleneck in low-level configuration; and (3) search mode does not improve design quality. Furthermore, to address these challenges, we propose OptED, a novel agentic workflow to optimize LLM-based experimental design, that enhances LLM-based experimental planning through stage isolation, tool augmentation, and rule-based constraints, effectively alleviating the configuration bottleneck.

MIND: Multimodal Intent-Driven Network via Diffusion Transformers for Medical Image Fusion

Medical image fusion aims to integrate complementary information from diverse imaging modalities to support clinical diagnosis. Existing methods typically apply uniform fusion rules globally, lacking a deep understanding of diagnostic intents and pathological structures. To address these limitations, we propose MIND, a Multimodal Intent-Driven Network via Diffusion Transformers (DiTs) for medical image fusion. Specifically, we utilize BioMedGPT to generate intent-driven fusion texts from source images, guiding the fusion process with pathology-aware diagnostic intents. To combat the loss of 2D spatial continuity caused by 1D sequence flattening in DiTs, we design a Multi-scale Latent Adapter. This module explicitly extracts source image features before serialization, injecting them into the network via strict dimensional alignment to effectively supplement image features. To resolve the semantic shift caused by decoupling image outputs from diagnostic intents, we design a medical semantic consistency loss. This loss ensures deep semantic locking between fused images and fusion texts while maintaining the stability of the underlying physical manifold reconstruction. Comprehensive experiments on the Harvard, BraTS, and GFP datasets reveal that MIND delivers superior fusion quality, significantly improves downstream brain tumor segmentation accuracy, and enables flexible interactive fusion, holding significant promise for intent-driven intelligent clinical decision support systems.

Learning from the Future: Privileged Self-Distillation for Sequential Recommendation

Sequential recommenders are commonly trained with one-hot next-item labels under a causal (prefix-only) objective aligned with inference. While deployment-compatible, this supervision offers little insight into relative preferences among non-target items. Yet logged interaction sequences contain an additional supervisory source: interactions following the target often reveal how user intent evolves, making the target easier to interpret. We treat these future interactions as training-only privileged information, available during learning but not at inference. This raises a natural question: can future interactions provide richer supervision while keeping training aligned with inference-time prediction? We propose Privileged Self-Distillation (PSD), a framework that separates learning-time information from inference-time information. PSD applies two attention masks to the same backbone: a future-aware view yields a privileged teacher distribution conditioned on past and future interactions, while a prefix-only view yields the student distribution used for deployment. Distilling the privileged distribution converts future interactions into training-only supervision rather than inference-time inputs. Since both views share a backbone, the teacher's advantage is purely informational, not architectural, removing the need for a separately pretrained teacher and letting its supervision adapt as the student evolves. PSD further uses an advantage-reachability gate to focus distillation on teacher signals likely supported by the observed prefix, along with a momentum-averaged teacher for stable targets. The framework is optimized end-to-end in a single stage, leaving the deployed model and inference cost unchanged. Experiments across public benchmarks and diverse backbones show consistent improvements.

Measurement of multiple mechanical properties from multi-dimensional signals in nanosecond laser ablation via PINN

Accurate evaluation of mechanical properties in steels under ageing or service conditions remains a major challenge. We propose a thermo-mechanical coupling framework for nanosecond laser ablation based on energy conservation, which is embedded into a physics-informed neural network (PINN) to enable simultaneous inversion of multiple mechanical properties. A thermo-mechanical coupling coefficient is defined to uniformly describe the dynamic allocation of input laser energy among thermal diffusion, mechanical work and plasma shielding across different deformation stages under laser irradiation. Furthermore, hard-to-measure physical characteristics in the coupled equation are replaced with experimentally accessible features obtained through the simultaneous acquisition of spectroscopic, shockwave and surface-wave signals. Using 210 experimental datasets, the framework simultaneously recovers Young's modulus, yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and micro-Vickers hardness with high accuracy (R2=0.9927, 0.9912, 0.9916 and 0.9959 respectively), significantly outperforming the baseline method (ultrasonic velocity regression for E, R2=0.0012). Comparisons with linear normalization and unconstrained neural networks demonstrate that PINN achieves near-unity accuracy through the embedding of conservation-law constraints. Partial dependency analysis further uncovers the nonlinear coupling laws between input features and mechanical properties. The proposed paradigm, integrating conservation laws, measurable features and physics-informed learning, offers a universal approach for non-contact, high-precision and physically consistent multi-to-multi inversion of multiple material properties under nanosecond laser ablation conditions.

Joint Channel Estimation and Data Detection for Multi-LEO-Satellite Cell-Free OTFS Uplinks

Cell-free networks formed by multiple low Earth orbit (LEO) satellites offer a promising architecture for ubiquitous connectivity, but their cooperative reception is challenged by link-dependent residual delays and Doppler shifts. This paper investigates joint channel estimation and data detection (JCEDD) for multi-LEO-satellite cell-free orthogonal time frequency space (OTFS) uplinks. The JCEDD problem is formulated as a structured bilinear inference problem involving link-specific sparse beam--delay--Doppler channels and a multiuser data vector. We develop a low-complexity hierarchical JCEDD receiver in which all satellites first perform local JCEDD, and their observations and local estimates are then aggregated at a central satellite for cooperative refinement. Computational complexity is reduced by restricting channel estimation to coarse-information-aided local beam--delay--Doppler regions and evaluating the required forward and adjoint operations in a matrix-free manner. Simulation results validate the channel-estimation accuracy and data-detection reliability of the proposed JCEDD receiver.

D3O: Dynamic Distribution Distillation for Ordinal Regression

Ordinal regression is widely used in scenarios where labels are discrete yet inherently ordered. In practice, however, ordinal labels are often obtained by discretizing underlying continuous semantics through subjective human judgment, resulting in ambiguous boundaries and annotation noise. Such uncertainty challenges existing methods that rely on fixed supervision targets, which may reinforce biased ordering under subjective annotations. To address this limitation, we propose D3O, a dynamic distribution distillation framework that replaces static supervision with training-driven evolution of ordinal label distributions via self-distillation. Specifically, we introduce a contrastive ordinal-aware label enhancement module that leverages vision-language alignment to recover refined label distributions capturing both inter-class ambiguity and instance-level uncertainty. Furthermore, we design a CDF-based cross-layer interaction distillation mechanism to propagate cumulative ordinal structure across network hierarchy, ensuring consistent ordinal geometry in intermediate representations. Extensive experiments on four general ordinal regression tasks demonstrate that our proposed D3O consistently outperforms existing approaches, particularly under severe class imbalance and noisy supervision. These results highlight the effectiveness of dynamic supervision in learning robust ordinal representations beyond fixed targets. The code will be publicly available.

A Scale-adaptive Vision Model Links C. elegans Neuronal Morphology to Behavior for Neurotoxicity Assessment

Neurological disorders are a leading cause of global disability and are increasingly linked to environmental chemical exposures. Yet neurotoxicity assessment still relies on hand-scored morphological readouts that are subjective and poorly predictive of behavioral outcomes. Caenorhabditis elegans provides a genetically tractable, 3R-compliant alternative, but quantifying neuronal phenotypes from confocal microscopy at scale remains computationally challenging: existing vision foundation models, trained on natural or radiological images, cannot resolve the sparse signals and multi-scale lesions of neuronal imaging. Here, we introduce a dedicated self-supervised vision model for C. elegans dopaminergic neurons, together with CeNeuMorph, a multi-grained confocal benchmark of 27,117 annotated images. Specifically, moving beyond standard Masked Autoencoders, we propose a scale-adaptive masked image modeling strategy that jointly learns representations across resolutions and patch sizes under a fixed token budget. By decoupling structural semantic learning from rigid grid constraints, the model effectively resolves the full spectrum of neurodegenerative lesions - ranging from fine dendritic beading to gross soma shrinkage - within a tractable computational framework. Finally, our model surpasses both generalist and biomedical foundation models across classification, segmentation and detection tasks. Fusing visual features with morphological descriptors enables prediction of dopamine-dependent behavioral deficits ($R^2=0.498$). Screening 180 agrochemicals, we identify the benzimidazole moiety as a previously unrecognized determinant of dopaminergic neurotoxicity. Together, the work demonstrates how scale-adaptive self-supervised learning can connect morphology to function for a scalable alternative to mammalian in vivo models for neurotoxicity assessment and drug discovery.

RecGPT-V3 Technical Report

Large language models (LLMs) are transforming recommender systems from matching co-occurrence patterns in historical behavior toward reasoning about the intent that drives it. RecGPT-V1 pioneered this paradigm on Taobao by centering user understanding, and RecGPT-V2 scaled it via coordinated multi-agent reasoning; both are deployed in production with consistent gains in user experience and commercial outcomes. However, operating RecGPT at scale reveals three challenges: (1) stateless behavior modeling, where each request reprocesses full user history, wasting computation and discarding prior analysis; (2) a tag-to-item information bottleneck, where natural-language tags form a lossy channel between user understanding and item grounding; and (3) inefficient explicit reasoning, whose lengthy chain-of-thought incurs untenable latency and compute overhead. We present RecGPT-V3, a stateful, hybrid-modal recommender that reasons over natural language for open-world knowledge and Semantic IDs (SIDs) for concrete item grounding. A Memory Hub maintains structured, continually evolving user memory that distills long-horizon behavior into condensed units, cutting user-modeling computation by 55.8%. A Hybrid-modal Foundation Model allows the LLM jointly reason over text tags and SIDs, opening a high-bandwidth channel into the item space. Latent Intent Reasoning internalizes verbose rationales into compact learnable latent tokens that remain decodable into readable explanations, lowering output token cost by 200x. Deployed in Taobao's "Guess What You Like" feed, RecGPT-V3 achieves consistent gains in large-scale online A/B tests: IPV +1.28%, CTR +1.00%, TC +1.97%, GMV +3.97%, while cutting end-to-end serving resource consumption by 52.4%.

Physics-informed genetic algorithms (PIGAs) facilitating LIBS spectral normalization with shockwave characteristics

Inspired by physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) inheriting both the interpretability of physical laws and the efficient integration capability of machine learning, we propose a framework based on stoichiometric ablation for LIBS spectral normalization, encoding physical constraints between LIBS intensities and shockwave characteristics (temperature Tshock and pressure P) into optimization algorithms with multiple independent objectives, named physics-informed genetic algorithms (PIGAs). It is characterized by its applicability to the wider laser energy range covering laser-induced breakdown to significant plasma shielding and spectral lines undergoing self-absorption outperforming the widely-used physical linear or multivariate data-driven normalization methods. The home-made end-to-end LAP-RTE codes serves as the benchmark to validate the physical reciprocal-logarithmic transformation and its extensibility to self-absorption spectral lines for PIGAs. Next experimental spectral lines are statistically used to validate PIGAs correction effects, the median RSDs of spectral intensities can be effectively reduced by 85% (corrected by P) and 88% (corrected by Tshock) for 108 Fe I lines, while for 33 Fe II lines, reduced by 77% (corrected by P) and 86% (corrected by Tshock). Seventeen self-absorption lines are also corrected effectively, with RSDs being reduced by 78% (corrected by P) and 89% (corrected by Tshock). Our proposed idea of combining optimization methods to quantify unknown parameters in normalization strategies can also be extended to excavate the correlation between parameters for other low-temperature plasma fields with similar processes.
