RAG-Match: Retrieval-Augmented Knowledge Injection and Hierarchical Reasoning for Calibrated Semantic Relevance

Semantic relevance judgment for search is particularly challenging in knowledge-intensive scenarios, where accurate ranking requires not only semantic matching but also background grounding, multi-step reasoning, and well-calibrated decision boundaries. Existing relevance models mainly rely on direct label supervision or shallow semantic similarity, which limits their ability to handle implicit intent, factual equivalence, and fine-grained relevance distinctions. To address this issue, we propose \textsc{RAG-Match}, a three-stage framework that integrates knowledge-augmented pretraining, hierarchical reasoning alignment, and preference-based decision calibration for relevance modeling. The key idea is to first strengthen query-centered semantic grounding, then align the model with structured relevance reasoning, and finally correct decision-level inconsistencies in difficult boundary cases. Experimental results on a real-world search relevance benchmark show that \textsc{RAG-Match} consistently outperforms strong LLM-based baselines across multiple ranking metrics, demonstrating the effectiveness of combining knowledge injection, reasoning supervision, and preference optimization for fine-grained relevance judgment.

Evaluating Cognitive Age Alignment in Interactive AI Agents

While agentic AI and its core multimodal large language models (MLLMs) have demonstrated remarkable promise in language and visual reasoning across domains ranging from daily life to advanced scientific research, a profound gap remains between artificial and human intelligence. Despite the integration of powerful tools and advanced MLLMs, state-of-the-art AI agents frequently fail at foundational, seemingly simple tasks that a child can resolve with ease. Inspired by the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children (WISC), we introduce ChildAgentEval, the first psychometrically grounded interactive benchmark for evaluating cognitive age alignment in MLLM-based agents. ChildAgentEval systematically compares the reasoning performance of various MLLM-based interactive agents against age-specific human developmental stages, exposing where current agentic AI systems can and cannot simulate age-specific cognitive behavior.

LERA: LLM-Enhanced RAG for Ad Auction in Generative Chatbots

The integration of advertising auction mechanisms into large language model (LLM)-based chatbots presents a significant opportunity for commercialization, yet poses unique challenges in balancing relevance, efficiency, and user experience. Recently, Feizi et al.~\citep{feizi2023online} and Hajiaghayi et al.~\citep{hajiaghayi2024ad} outlined a retrieve-then-generate paradigm that decouples retrieval and generation, offering lightweight ad insertion and payment determination. However, current retrieval relies solely on text embedding similarity, which may lead to commercial misinterpretation and issues such as repetitive insertions. In this paper, we propose LERA, a two-stage retrieve-then-generate auction framework tailored for LLM chatbots. In the first stage, embedding-based coarse filtering pre-selects a small set of candidate advertisers. In the second stage, the LLM itself is queried with a carefully designed prompt to produce logits over candidates, which serve as refined organic relevance scores. These scores are combined with bids, and a critical-value payment rule accounts for both the coarse-filtering and fine-ranking thresholds, ensuring truthfulness for utility-maximizing advertisers. The framework naturally extends to multiple ad insertions within dynamic dialogue flows and long responses. Experiments on a synthetic advertiser-query benchmark show that LERA substantially improves ad selection accuracy and insertion diversity while incurring only controllable latency overhead.

Screening effect of plasma flow on the resonant magnetic perturbation penetration in tokamak based on two-fluid model

Numerical simulation on the resonant magnetic perturbation penetration is carried out by the newly-updated initial value code MDC (MHD@Dalian Code). Based on a set of two-fluid four-field equations, the bootstrap current, parallel and perpendicular transport effects are included appropriately. Taking into account the bootstrap current, a mode penetration like phenomenon is found, which is essentially different from the classical tearing mode model. It may provide a possible explanation for the finite mode penetration threshold at zero rotation detected in experiments. To reveal the influence of diamagnetic drift flow on the mode penetration process, $\bf E\times B$ drift flow and diamagnetic drift flow are separately applied to compare their effects. Numerical results show that, a sufficiently large diamagnetic drift flow can drive a strong stabilizing effect on the neoclassical tearing mode. Furthermore, an oscillation phenomenon of island width is discovered. By analyzing in depth, it is found that, this oscillation phenomenon is due to the negative feedback regulation of pressure on the magnetic island. This physical mechanism is verified again by key parameter scanning.

LLM-Auction: Generative Auction towards LLM-Native Advertising

The commercialization of LLM applications is the next frontier in online advertising, with LLM-native advertising emerging as a promising paradigm by integrating ads into LLM-generated content. However, classic mechanisms are no longer applicable in this setting where the auction object is shifted from discrete ad slots to distributions over LLM outputs, and existing methods are impractical in industrial scenarios due to ignored externalities or high inference costs. To address these issues, we propose LLM-Auction, the first learning-based generative auction mechanism that integrates auction and generation. By formulating the allocation as preference alignment between LLM outputs and a mechanism objective that balances advertisers' value and user experience, we optimize the LLMs to inherently model allocation externalities without extra inference cost. Theoretically, we identify the allocation monotonicity and continuity of LLM-Auction, and prove that a simple first-price payment rule exhibits favorable incentive properties. Furthermore, we build an LLM-as-a-judge simulation environment for quantitative evaluation, and experiments demonstrate that LLM-Auction achieves the state-of-the-art allocation efficiency while satisfying key mechanism properties.

ResRank: Unifying Retrieval and Listwise Reranking via End-to-End Joint Training with Residual Passage Compression

Large language model (LLM) based listwise reranking has emerged as the dominant paradigm for achieving state-of-the-art ranking effectiveness in information retrieval. However, its reliance on feeding full passage texts into the LLM introduces two critical bottlenecks: the "lost in the middle" phenomenon degrades ranking quality as input length grows, and the inference latency scales super-linearly with sequence length, rendering it impractical for industrial deployment. In this paper, we present ResRank, a unified retrieval-reranking framework that fundamentally addresses both challenges. Inspired by multimodal LLMs that project visual inputs into compact token representations, ResRank employs an Encoder-LLM to compress each candidate passage into a single embedding, which is then fed alongside the query text into a Reranker-LLM for listwise ranking. To alleviate the misalignment between the compressed representation space and the ranking space, we introduce a residual connection structure that combines encoder embeddings with contextualized hidden states from the reranker. Furthermore, we replace the conventional autoregressive decoding with a one-step cosine-similarity-based scoring mechanism, eliminating the generation bottleneck entirely. ResRank is trained through a carefully designed dual-stage, multi-task, end-to-end joint optimization strategy that simultaneously trains the encoder and reranker, achieving learning objective alignment between retrieval and reranking while substantially reducing training complexity. Extensive experiments on TREC Deep Learning and eight BEIR benchmark datasets demonstrate that ResRank achieves competitive or superior ranking effectiveness compared to existing approaches while requiring zero generated tokens and processing only one token per passage, yielding a fundamentally better balance between effectiveness and efficiency.

QuarkMedSearch: A Long-Horizon Deep Search Agent for Exploring Medical Intelligence

As agentic foundation models continue to evolve, how to further improve their performance in vertical domains has become an important challenge. To this end, building upon Tongyi DeepResearch, a powerful agentic foundation model, we focus on the Chinese medical deep search scenario and propose QuarkMedSearch, systematically exploring a full-pipeline approach spanning medical multi-hop data construction, training strategies, and evaluation benchmarks to further push and assess its performance upper bound in vertical domains. Specifically, for data synthesis, to address the scarcity of deep search training data in the medical domain, we combine a large-scale medical knowledge graph with real-time online exploration to construct long-horizon medical deep search training data; for post-training, we adopt a two-stage SFT and RL training strategy that progressively enhances the model's planning, tool invocation, and reflection capabilities required for deep search, while maintaining search efficiency; for evaluation, we collaborate with medical experts to construct the QuarkMedSearch Benchmark through rigorous manual verification. Experimental results demonstrate that QuarkMedSearch achieves state-of-the-art performance among open-source models of comparable scale on the QuarkMedSearch Benchmark, while also maintaining strong competitiveness on general benchmarks.

Gaussians on a Diet: High-Quality Memory-Bounded 3D Gaussian Splatting Training

3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) has revolutionized novel view synthesis with high-quality rendering through continuous aggregations of millions of 3D Gaussian primitives. However, it suffers from a substantial memory footprint, particularly during training due to uncontrolled densification, posing a critical bottleneck for deployment on memory-constrained edge devices. While existing methods prune redundant Gaussians post-training, they fail to address the peak memory spikes caused by the abrupt growth of Gaussians early in the training process. To solve the training memory consumption problem, we propose a systematic memory-bounded training framework that dynamically optimizes Gaussians through iterative growth and pruning. In other words, the proposed framework alternates between incremental pruning of low-impact Gaussians and strategic growing of new primitives with an adaptive Gaussian compensation, maintaining a near-constant low memory usage while progressively refining rendering fidelity. We comprehensively evaluate the proposed training framework on various real-world datasets under strict memory constraints, showing significant improvements over existing state-of-the-art methods. Particularly, our proposed method practically enables memory-efficient 3DGS training on NVIDIA Jetson AGX Xavier, achieving similar visual quality with up to 80% lower peak training memory consumption than the original 3DGS.

EvolveSignal: A Large Language Model Powered Coding Agent for Discovering Traffic Signal Control Strategies

In traffic engineering, fixed-time traffic signal control remains widely used for its low cost, stability, and interpretability. However, its design relies on hand-crafted formulas (e.g., Webster) and manual re-timing by engineers to adapt to demand changes, which is labor-intensive and often yields suboptimal results under heterogeneous or congested conditions. This paper introduces EvolveSignal, an LLM-powered coding agent for automatically discovering interpretable heuristic strategies for fixed-time traffic signal control. Rather than deriving entirely new analytical formulations, the proposed framework focuses on exploring code-level variations of existing control logic and identifying effective combinations of heuristic modifications. We formulate the problem as program synthesis, where candidate strategies are represented as Python functions with fixed input-output structures and iteratively optimized through external evaluations (e.g., a traffic simulator) and evolutionary search. Experiments on a signalized intersection demonstrate that the discovered strategies outperform a classical baseline (Webster's method), reducing average delay by 20.1\% and average stops by 47.1\%. Beyond performance, ablation and incremental analyses reveal that EvolveSignal can identify meaningful modifications, such as adjusting cycle length bounds, incorporating right-turn demand, and rescaling green allocations, that provide useful insights for traffic engineers. This work highlights the potential of LLM-driven program synthesis for supporting interpretable and automated heuristic design in traffic signal control.

Generation-Augmented Generation: A Plug-and-Play Framework for Private Knowledge Injection in Large Language Models

In domains such as materials science, biomedicine, and finance, high-stakes deployment of large language models (LLMs) requires injecting private, domain-specific knowledge that is proprietary, fast-evolving, and under-represented in public pretraining. However, the two dominant paradigms for private knowledge injection each have clear drawbacks: fine-tuning is expensive to iterate under continual updates that can induce catastrophic forgetting and general-capability regression; retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) keeps the base model intact but remains brittle in specialized private corpora due to chunk-induced evidence fragmentation, retrieval mismatch, and long-context pressure. Inspired by how multimodal LLMs align heterogeneous modalities into a shared semantic space, we propose Generation-Augmented Generation (GAG), which treats private expertise as an auxiliary modality and injects it into a frozen base model through a compact, constant-budget latent interface. Concretely, GAG distills question-conditioned specialist knowledge from lightweight domain experts into multi-slot latent memories, integrates multi-layer expert signals via per-slot cross-layer fusion, and aligns them to the frozen base model through gated residual projection, while supporting scalable mixed-domain deployment with reliable selective activation. In a unified mixed-domain evaluation spanning two scientific private-domain QA benchmarks (catalytic materials and immunology adjuvant) together with general-domain queries, GAG consistently outperforms strong retrieval-based and parameter-efficient fine-tuning baselines on specialist QA, while preserving general-domain capability, achieving highly reliable routing, and offering a favorable efficiency--effectiveness trade-off. Code and datasets are provided in the supplementary material. Code is publicly available at https://github.com/360CVGroup/GAG.

Bid2X: Revealing Dynamics of Bidding Environment in Online Advertising from A Foundation Model Lens

Auto-bidding is crucial in facilitating online advertising by automatically providing bids for advertisers. While previous work has made great efforts to model bidding environments for better ad performance, it has limitations in generalizability across environments since these models are typically tailored for specific bidding scenarios. To this end, we approach the scenario-independent principles through a unified function that estimates the achieved effect under specific bids, such as budget consumption, gross merchandise volume (GMV), page views, etc. Then, we propose a bidding foundation model Bid2X to learn this fundamental function from data in various scenarios. Our Bid2X is built over uniform series embeddings that encode heterogeneous data through tailored embedding methods. To capture complex inter-variable and dynamic temporal dependencies in bidding data, we propose two attention mechanisms separately treating embeddings of different variables and embeddings at different times as attention tokens for representation learning. On top of the learned variable and temporal representations, a variable-aware fusion module is used to perform adaptive bidding outcome prediction. To model the unique bidding data distribution, we devise a zero-inflated projection module to incorporate the estimated non-zero probability into its value prediction, which makes up a joint optimization objective containing classification and regression. The objective is proven to converge to the zero-inflated distribution. Our model has been deployed on the ad platform in Taobao, one of the world's largest e-commerce platforms. Offline evaluation on eight datasets exhibits Bid2X's superiority compared to various baselines and its generality across different scenarios. Bid2X increased GMV by 4.65% and ROI by 2.44% in online A/B tests, paving the way for bidding foundation model in computational advertising.

QuarkMedBench: A Real-World Scenario Driven Benchmark for Evaluating Large Language Models

While Large Language Models (LLMs) excel on standardized medical exams, high scores often fail to translate to high-quality responses for real-world medical queries. Current evaluations rely heavily on multiple-choice questions, failing to capture the unstructured, ambiguous, and long-tail complexities inherent in genuine user inquiries. To bridge this gap, we introduce QuarkMedBench, an ecologically valid benchmark tailored for real-world medical LLM assessment. We compiled a massive dataset spanning Clinical Care, Wellness Health, and Professional Inquiry, comprising 20,821 single-turn queries and 3,853 multi-turn sessions. To objectively evaluate open-ended answers, we propose an automated scoring framework that integrates multi-model consensus with evidence-based retrieval to dynamically generate 220,617 fine-grained scoring rubrics (~9.8 per query). During evaluation, hierarchical weighting and safety constraints structurally quantify medical accuracy, key-point coverage, and risk interception, effectively mitigating the high costs and subjectivity of human grading. Experimental results demonstrate that the generated rubrics achieve a 91.8% concordance rate with clinical expert blind audits, establishing highly dependable medical reliability. Crucially, baseline evaluations on this benchmark reveal significant performance disparities among state-of-the-art models when navigating real-world clinical nuances, highlighting the limitations of conventional exam-based metrics. Ultimately, QuarkMedBench establishes a rigorous, reproducible yardstick for measuring LLM performance on complex health issues, while its framework inherently supports dynamic knowledge updates to prevent benchmark obsolescence.

Sparse Variational Student-t Processes for Heavy-tailed Modeling

The Gaussian process (GP) is a powerful tool for nonparametric modeling, but its sensitivity to outliers limits its applicability to data distributions with heavy-tails. Studentt processes offer a robust alternative for heavy tail modeling, but they lack the scalable developments of the GP to large datasets necessary for practical applications. We present Sparse Variational Student-t Processes (SVTP), the first principled framework that extends the sparse inducing point method to the Student-t process. We develop two novel inference algorithms, SVTP-UB and SVTP-MC, with theoretical guarantees, and derive a natural gradient optimization that exploits a previously unused connection between the Fisher information matrix of the multivariate Student-t distribution and the beta function (the 'beta link'). Experiments on UCI and Kaggle datasets demonstrate that SVTP significantly outperforms sparse GPs on when the data is contains outliers and heavy tails, achieving up to 3 times faster convergence and 40% lower prediction error while maintaining computational efficiency for datasets with over 200,000 samples.

Variational Learning of Gaussian Process Latent Variable Models through Stochastic Gradient Annealed Importance Sampling

Gaussian Process Latent Variable Models (GPLVMs) have become increasingly popular for unsupervised tasks such as dimensionality reduction and missing data recovery due to their flexibility and non-linear nature. An importance-weighted version of the Bayesian GPLVMs has been proposed to obtain a tighter variational bound. However, this version of the approach is primarily limited to analyzing simple data structures, as the generation of an effective proposal distribution can become quite challenging in high-dimensional spaces or with complex data sets. In this work, we propose an Annealed Importance Sampling (AIS) approach to address these issues. By transforming the posterior into a sequence of intermediate distributions using annealing, we combine the strengths of Sequential Monte Carlo samplers and VI to explore a wider range of posterior distributions and gradually approach the target distribution. We further propose an efficient algorithm by reparameterizing all variables in the evidence lower bound (ELBO). Experimental results on both toy and image datasets demonstrate that our method outperforms state-of-the-art methods in terms of tighter variational bounds, higher log-likelihoods, and more robust convergence.

Quark Medical Alignment: A Holistic Multi-Dimensional Alignment and Collaborative Optimization Paradigm

While reinforcement learning for large language model alignment has progressed rapidly in recent years, transferring these paradigms to high-stakes medical question answering reveals a fundamental paradigm mismatch. Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback relies on preference annotations that are prohibitively expensive and often fail to reflect the absolute correctness of medical facts. Reinforcement Learning from Verifiable Rewards lacks effective automatic verifiers and struggles to handle complex clinical contexts. Meanwhile, medical alignment requires the simultaneous optimization of correctness, safety, and compliance, yet multi-objective heterogeneous reward signals are prone to scale mismatch and optimization conflicts. To address these challenges, we propose a robust medical alignment paradigm. We first construct a holistic multi-dimensional medical alignment matrix that decomposes alignment objectives into four categories: fundamental capabilities, expert knowledge, online feedback, and format specifications. Within each category, we establish a closed loop of where observable metrics inform attributable diagnosis, which in turn drives optimizable rewards, thereby providing fine-grained, high-resolution supervision signals for subsequent iterative optimization. To resolve gradient domination and optimization instability problem caused by heterogeneous signals, we further propose a unified optimization mechanism. This mechanism employs Reference-Frozen Normalization to align reward scales and implements a Tri-Factor Adaptive Dynamic Weighting strategy to achieve collaborative optimization that is weakness-oriented, risk-prioritized, and redundancy-reducing. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed paradigm in real-world medical scenario evaluations, establishing a new paradigm for complex alignment in vertical domains.

MOON: Generative MLLM-based Multimodal Representation Learning for E-commerce Product Understanding

With the rapid advancement of e-commerce, exploring general representations rather than task-specific ones has attracted increasing research attention. For product understanding, although existing discriminative dual-flow architectures drive progress in this field, they inherently struggle to model the many-to-one alignment between multiple images and texts of products. Therefore, we argue that generative Multimodal Large Language Models (MLLMs) hold significant potential for improving product representation learning. Nevertheless, achieving this goal still remains non-trivial due to several key challenges: the lack of multimodal and aspect-aware modeling modules in typical LLMs; the common presence of background noise in product images; and the absence of a standard benchmark for evaluation. To address these issues, we propose the first generative MLLM-based model named MOON for product representation learning. Our method (1) employs a guided Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) module for targeted modeling of multimodal and aspect-specific product content; (2) effectively detects core semantic regions in product images to mitigate the distraction and interference caused by background noise; and (3) introduces the specialized negative sampling strategy to increase the difficulty and diversity of negative samples. In addition, we release a large-scale multimodal benchmark MBE for various product understanding tasks. Experimentally, our model demonstrates competitive zero-shot performance on both our benchmark and the public dataset, showcasing strong generalization across various downstream tasks, including cross-modal retrieval, product classification, and attribute prediction. Furthermore, the case study and visualization illustrate the effectiveness of MOON for product understanding. The data of our MBE benchmark is given in https://huggingface.co/datasets/Daoze/MM-Bench-E-Commerce.

RAIR: A Rule-Aware Benchmark Uniting Challenging Long-Tail and Visual Salience Subset for E-commerce Relevance Assessment

Search relevance plays a central role in web e-commerce. While large language models (LLMs) have shown significant results on relevance task, existing benchmarks lack sufficient complexity for comprehensive model assessment, resulting in an absence of standardized relevance evaluation metrics across the industry. To address this limitation, we propose Rule-Aware benchmark with Image for Relevance assessment(RAIR), a Chinese dataset derived from real-world scenarios. RAIR established a standardized framework for relevance assessment and provides a set of universal rules, which forms the foundation for standardized evaluation. Additionally, RAIR analyzes essential capabilities required for current relevance models and introduces a comprehensive dataset consists of three subset: (1) a general subset with industry-balanced sampling to evaluate fundamental model competencies; (2) a long-tail hard subset focus on challenging cases to assess performance limits; (3) a visual salience subset for evaluating multimodal understanding capabilities. We conducted experiments on RAIR using 14 open and closed-source models. The results demonstrate that RAIR presents sufficient challenges even for GPT-5, which achieved the best performance. RAIR data are now available, serving as an industry benchmark for relevance assessment while providing new insights into general LLM and Visual Language Model(VLM) evaluation.
