Hi-Token: Hierarchical Coordinate Tokenization for Generative Visual Grounding

Generative Vision-Language Models (VLMs) commonly treat bounding-box coordinates as independent output symbols, leaving numerical order and axis semantics implicit. We identify this representation as an important source of error in visual grounding. Hi-Token encodes each coordinate with axis-specific tokens for the hundreds, tens, and ones digits, which adds coarse-to-fine structure and increases token reuse while retaining the existing VLM architecture. Hi-GAR complements this representation with a geometry-based reward for Group Relative Policy Optimization (GRPO), using box overlap and coordinate accuracy at multiple scales. Controlled comparisons under matched training conditions show that Hi-Token improves localization throughout the evaluated IoU range. Hi-GAR further reduces low-overlap predictions and is used only during training. Experiments on three VLM backbones and the RefCOCO family show consistent gains across models and benchmarks. Hi-R1 achieves higher values than strong specialist baselines on most reported metrics. Analyses of token frequency, digit boundaries, object scale, and IoU distributions explain the effects of coordinate representation and reward training. The results show that structured coordinate generation provides an effective approach to generative visual grounding. Project page: https://xyzzzh.github.io/Hi-Token/

IoU-PD: IoU-Aware Privileged Distillation for Visual Grounding with Multimodal Large Language Models

Visual grounding with multimodal large language models is commonly formulated as autoregressive coordinate generation, where a model outputs bounding-box coordinates as text given an image and a referring-expression prompt. While this interface is simple and compatible with instruction following, it introduces a mismatch between training and evaluation: training optimizes token-level likelihood over coordinate strings, whereas grounding quality is measured by geometric overlap. We propose IoU-PD, an IoU-aware privileged distillation method for coordinate-generating multimodal large language models. IoU-PD uses ground-truth boxes not only as coordinate targets, but also as privileged training-time guidance. During training, the student receives the original image and prompt, while a frozen teacher receives a box-marked image and an augmented prompt that indicates the marked region. The student is trained with a supervised fine-tuning anchor and a privileged distillation loss whose token weights reflect both geometric importance and teacher reliability. At inference time, IoU-PD requires no box overlay, privileged hint, teacher branch, or additional prediction module. Experiments on standard referring-expression grounding benchmarks show consistent region-level improvements over strong coordinate-generating baselines, demonstrating that ground-truth boxes can provide useful privileged guidance beyond serving as coordinate labels. Do LLMs Need Architectural Changes for Simultaneous Speech Translation? A Prefix-to-Prefix Data Driven Approach

Simultaneous speech translation (SimulST) requires incremental translation under strict latency constraints, yet remains challenging for decoder-only LLM systems due to limited context and cross-lingual reordering. Recent approaches often introduce architectural changes or explicit read/write policies to control output timing, which can be brittle in conversational speech where segmentation boundaries are ambiguous. We present a simple data-driven alternative: fixed-length chunks for cumulative streaming decoding with a rewind-based committed prefix, and teacher-labeled prefix-to-prefix (P2P) targets with bounded waiting for fine-tuning, yielding CSSEL-P2P, where CSSEL is our proposed chunked streaming speech encoder LLM. In our in-house conversational speech evaluation, CSSEL-P2P improves streaming quality by +1.54 COMETKiwi over the CSSEL streaming baseline at comparable latency (+0.15s Average Lagging), suggesting effective SimulST without architectural changes via P2P supervision.

Preserving Speech-to-Text LLM Capabilities in Speech-to-Speech Generation

Strong speech-to-text (S2T) LLMs already provide robust speech perception and text reasoning, but adding speech-to-speech (S2S) output is challenging: fine-tuning the backbone can degrade the original S2T performance, while attaching a downstream talker reintroduces a serial text-to-speech bottleneck. We present PRIME-Speech, a frozen-backbone S2S conversion framework that trains only speech-generation modules. PRIME-Speech synchronizes a causal audio post-decoder with intermediate hidden states of the frozen backbone, so codec tokens are generated from the model's evolving reasoning trajectory rather than from completed text chunks. The post-decoder uses mixed hidden-state, text, and audio-history conditioning, and a training-time packing strategy with turn-level audio KV-cache and position reset stabilizes multi-turn spoken interaction without additional multi-turn S2S training data. Multi-token prediction further reduces the effective codec prediction rate and improves first-audio latency without modifying the reasoning path. Across speech translation, spoken QA, speech understanding, and multi-turn dialogue, PRIME-Speech preserves the S2T behavior of the frozen backbone while producing accurate, low-WER spoken responses.

QueryGaussian: Scalable and Training-Free Open-Vocabulary 3D Instance Retrieval

Efficiently retrieving specific 3D instances from large-scale scenes via natural language prompts remains a formidable challenge in multimedia analysis. Existing approaches predominantly follow a "scene-level embedding" paradigm, which requires distilling high-dimensional semantic features into every 3D primitive. This strategy suffers from a fundamental architectural bottleneck: memory and computational costs scale linearly with scene complexity, inevitably triggering out-of-memory (OOM) failures in city-scale environments. To address this barrier, we propose QueryGaussian, a training-free framework for expeditious and scalable open-vocabulary 3D instance retrieval. Unlike holistic semantic distillation, QueryGaussian employs an instance-level query mechanism that decouples semantic understanding from geometric representation. Specifically, we leverage pre-trained 2D vision models to interpret user prompts and lift segmentation masks into 3D via a concurrent maximum-weight association strategy, ensuring semantic-visual consistency. To mitigate projection ambiguity, we introduce a temporal fusion module with multi-stage adaptive density clustering. Experimental results demonstrate that QueryGaussian not only matches the accuracy of state-of-the-art methods but also delivers a decisive efficiency leap, reducing GPU memory usage by over 70% and accelerating inference by 180x. Crucially, QueryGaussian enables expeditious instance retrieval on city-scale scenes containing tens of millions of Gaussians using consumer-grade hardware.

SoLAR: Error-Resilient Streamable Long-Horizon Free-Viewpoint Video Reconstruction with Anchor Activation and Latent Recalibration

Free-Viewpoint Video (FVV) has emerged as a cornerstone of next-generation immersive media systems and attracted widespread attention. Previous methods primarily focus on short video sequences and suffer from significant performance degradation when processing long-horizon free-viewpoint video (LFVV). Motivated by bit allocation theory, we analyze dynamic-anchor-based volumetric video representation within a rate-distortion optimization framework and propose \textbf{SoLAR}, which is the first error-resilient streamable FVV framework that maintains stable reconstruction quality on long sequences without requiring group-of-pictures partitioning. We propose the Anchor Activation Dynamics (AAD), which enables dynamic anchors to model non-rigid transformations by dynamically activating informative anchors and suppressing redundant ones. Furthermore, we introduce Latent Discrepancy Aware Recalibration (LaDAR), which is a mechanism to identify discrepancies between latent representations and recalibrate the correspondences encoded in the network, effectively mitigating error propagation in LFVV without compromising real-time performance or storage compactness. Extensive experiments demonstrate that \textbf{SoLAR} achieves state-of-the-art reconstruction performance while maintaining minimum storage overhead, which provides a new direction for LFVV reconstruction and advances the practical deployment of immersive systems. Demo free-viewpoint videos are provided in the supplementary material.

Parallax to Align Them All: An OmniParallax Attention Mechanism for Distributed Multi-View Image Compression

Multi-view image compression (MIC) aims to achieve high compression efficiency by exploiting inter-image correlations, playing a crucial role in 3D applications. As a subfield of MIC, distributed multi-view image compression (DMIC) offers performance comparable to MIC while eliminating the need for inter-view information at the encoder side. However, existing methods in DMIC typically treat all images equally, overlooking the varying degrees of correlation between different views during decoding, which leads to suboptimal coding performance. To address this limitation, we propose a novel $\textbf{OmniParallax Attention Mechanism}$ (OPAM), which is a general mechanism for explicitly modeling correlations and aligned features between arbitrary pairs of information sources. Building upon OPAM, we propose a Parallax Multi Information Fusion Module (PMIFM) to adaptively integrate information from different sources. PMIFM is incorporated into both the joint decoder and the entropy model to construct our end-to-end DMIC framework, $\textbf{ParaHydra}$. Extensive experiments demonstrate that $\textbf{ParaHydra}$ is $\textbf{the first DMIC method}$ to significantly surpass state-of-the-art MIC codecs, while maintaining low computational overhead. Performance gains become more pronounced as the number of input views increases. Compared with LDMIC, $\textbf{ParaHydra}$ achieves bitrate savings of $\textbf{19.72%}$ on WildTrack(3) and up to $\textbf{24.18%}$ on WildTrack(6), while significantly improving coding efficiency (as much as $\textbf{65}\times$ in decoding and $\textbf{34}\times$ in encoding).

AUHead: Realistic Emotional Talking Head Generation via Action Units Control

Realistic talking-head video generation is critical for virtual avatars, film production, and interactive systems. Current methods struggle with nuanced emotional expressions due to the lack of fine-grained emotion control. To address this issue, we introduce a novel two-stage method (AUHead) to disentangle fine-grained emotion control, i.e. , Action Units (AUs), from audio and achieve controllable generation. In the first stage, we explore the AU generation abilities of large audio-language models (ALMs), by spatial-temporal AU tokenization and an "emotion-then-AU" chain-of-thought mechanism. It aims to disentangle AUs from raw speech, effectively capturing subtle emotional cues. In the second stage, we propose an AU-driven controllable diffusion model that synthesizes realistic talking-head videos conditioned on AU sequences. Specifically, we first map the AU sequences into the structured 2D facial representation to enhance spatial fidelity, and then model the AU-vision interaction within cross-attention modules. To achieve flexible AU-quality trade-off control, we introduce an AU disentanglement guidance strategy during inference, further refining the emotional expressiveness and identity consistency of the generated videos. Results on benchmark datasets demonstrate that our approach achieves competitive performance in emotional realism, accurate lip synchronization, and visual coherence, significantly surpassing existing techniques. Beyond Prompting: Efficient and Robust Contextual Biasing for Speech LLMs via Logit-Space Integration (LOGIC)

The rapid emergence of new entities -- driven by cultural shifts, evolving trends, and personalized user data -- poses a significant challenge for existing Speech Large Language Models (Speech LLMs). While these models excel at general conversational tasks, their static training knowledge limits their ability to recognize domain-specific terms such as contact names, playlists, or technical jargon. Existing solutions primarily rely on prompting, which suffers from poor scalability: as the entity list grows, prompting encounters context window limitations, increased inference latency, and the "lost-in-the-middle" phenomenon. An alternative approach, Generative Error Correction (GEC), attempts to rewrite transcripts via post-processing but frequently suffers from "over-correction", introducing hallucinations of entities that were never spoken. In this work, we introduce LOGIC (Logit-Space Integration for Contextual Biasing), an efficient and robust framework that operates directly in the decoding layer. Unlike prompting, LOGIC decouples context injection from input processing, ensuring constant-time complexity relative to prompt length. Extensive experiments using the Phi-4-MM model across 11 multilingual locales demonstrate that LOGIC achieves an average 9% relative reduction in Entity WER with a negligible 0.30% increase in False Alarm Rate.

Generative AI for Analysts

We study how generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) reshapes financial analysts' information production. Using the 2023 integration of GenAI into FACTSET as a plausibly exogenous change in AI access, we find that FACTSET-associated reports become markedly richer--featuring 26% more distinct information sources, 24% broader topical coverage, and 21% more analytical methods--while also improving timeliness. However, these gains do not uniformly improve decision quality: relative forecast accuracy declines when analysts face greater information-processing demands. Yet, a machine-learning benchmark processing the same observable inputs shows no analogous deterioration, pointing to a human processing constraint rather than poorer underlying information. Placebo tests using other data vendors make a common platform-wide technology trend unlikely. Overall, GenAI relaxes information-acquisition constraints while making human attention a more important bottleneck.

PHRASED: Phrase Dictionary Biasing for Speech Translation

Phrases are essential to understand the core concepts in conversations. However, due to their rare occurrence in training data, correct translation of phrases is challenging in speech translation tasks. In this paper, we propose a phrase dictionary biasing method to leverage pairs of phrases mapping from the source language to the target language. We apply the phrase dictionary biasing method to two types of widely adopted models, a transducer-based streaming speech translation model and a multimodal large language model. Experimental results show that the phrase dictionary biasing method outperforms phrase list biasing by 21% relatively for the streaming speech translation model. In addition, phrase dictionary biasing enables multimodal large language models to use external phrase information, achieving 85% relative improvement in phrase recall.

Length Aware Speech Translation for Video Dubbing

In video dubbing, aligning translated audio with the source audio is a significant challenge. Our focus is on achieving this efficiently, tailored for real-time, on-device video dubbing scenarios. We developed a phoneme-based end-to-end length-sensitive speech translation (LSST) model, which generates translations of varying lengths short, normal, and long using predefined tags. Additionally, we introduced length-aware beam search (LABS), an efficient approach to generate translations of different lengths in a single decoding pass. This approach maintained comparable BLEU scores compared to a baseline without length awareness while significantly enhancing synchronization quality between source and target audio, achieving a mean opinion score (MOS) gain of 0.34 for Spanish and 0.65 for Korean, respectively.

Streaming Speaker Change Detection and Gender Classification for Transducer-Based Multi-Talker Speech Translation

Streaming multi-talker speech translation is a task that involves not only generating accurate and fluent translations with low latency but also recognizing when a speaker change occurs and what the speaker's gender is. Speaker change information can be used to create audio prompts for a zero-shot text-to-speech system, and gender can help to select speaker profiles in a conventional text-to-speech model. We propose to tackle streaming speaker change detection and gender classification by incorporating speaker embeddings into a transducer-based streaming end-to-end speech translation model. Our experiments demonstrate that the proposed methods can achieve high accuracy for both speaker change detection and gender classification.

MambaDETR: Query-based Temporal Modeling using State Space Model for Multi-View 3D Object Detection

Utilizing temporal information to improve the performance of 3D detection has made great progress recently in the field of autonomous driving. Traditional transformer-based temporal fusion methods suffer from quadratic computational cost and information decay as the length of the frame sequence increases. In this paper, we propose a novel method called MambaDETR, whose main idea is to implement temporal fusion in the efficient state space. Moreover, we design a Motion Elimination module to remove the relatively static objects for temporal fusion. On the standard nuScenes benchmark, our proposed MambaDETR achieves remarkable result in the 3D object detection task, exhibiting state-of-the-art performance among existing temporal fusion methods.

Isochrony-Controlled Speech-to-Text Translation: A study on translating from Sino-Tibetan to Indo-European Languages

End-to-end speech translation (ST), which translates source language speech directly into target language text, has garnered significant attention in recent years. Many ST applications require strict length control to ensure that the translation duration matches the length of the source audio, including both speech and pause segments. Previous methods often controlled the number of words or characters generated by the Machine Translation model to approximate the source sentence's length without considering the isochrony of pauses and speech segments, as duration can vary between languages. To address this, we present improvements to the duration alignment component of our sequence-to-sequence ST model. Our method controls translation length by predicting the duration of speech and pauses in conjunction with the translation process. This is achieved by providing timing information to the decoder, ensuring it tracks the remaining duration for speech and pauses while generating the translation. The evaluation on the Zh-En test set of CoVoST 2, demonstrates that the proposed Isochrony-Controlled ST achieves 0.92 speech overlap and 8.9 BLEU, which has only a 1.4 BLEU drop compared to the ST baseline.

Failing Forward: Improving Generative Error Correction for ASR with Synthetic Data and Retrieval Augmentation

Generative Error Correction (GEC) has emerged as a powerful post-processing method to enhance the performance of Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) systems. However, we show that GEC models struggle to generalize beyond the specific types of errors encountered during training, limiting their ability to correct new, unseen errors at test time, particularly in out-of-domain (OOD) scenarios. This phenomenon amplifies with named entities (NEs), where, in addition to insufficient contextual information or knowledge about the NEs, novel NEs keep emerging. To address these issues, we propose DARAG (Data- and Retrieval-Augmented Generative Error Correction), a novel approach designed to improve GEC for ASR in in-domain (ID) and OOD scenarios. We augment the GEC training dataset with synthetic data generated by prompting LLMs and text-to-speech models, thereby simulating additional errors from which the model can learn. For OOD scenarios, we simulate test-time errors from new domains similarly and in an unsupervised fashion. Additionally, to better handle named entities, we introduce retrieval-augmented correction by augmenting the input with entities retrieved from a database. Our approach is simple, scalable, and both domain- and language-agnostic. We experiment on multiple datasets and settings, showing that DARAG outperforms all our baselines, achieving 8\% -- 30\% relative WER improvements in ID and 10\% -- 33\% improvements in OOD settings.

Towards Unified Facial Action Unit Recognition Framework by Large Language Models

Facial Action Units (AUs) are of great significance in the realm of affective computing. In this paper, we propose AU-LLaVA, the first unified AU recognition framework based on the Large Language Model (LLM). AU-LLaVA consists of a visual encoder, a linear projector layer, and a pre-trained LLM. We meticulously craft the text descriptions and fine-tune the model on various AU datasets, allowing it to generate different formats of AU recognition results for the same input image. On the BP4D and DISFA datasets, AU-LLaVA delivers the most accurate recognition results for nearly half of the AUs. Our model achieves improvements of F1-score up to 11.4% in specific AU recognition compared to previous benchmark results. On the FEAFA dataset, our method achieves significant improvements over all 24 AUs compared to previous benchmark results. AU-LLaVA demonstrates exceptional performance and versatility in AU recognition.
