Competing Extended-$s$- and $d$-Wave Pairing from Distinct Spin-Fluctuation Channels in Stoichiometric $\mathrm{FeTe}$

The recent observation of superconductivity in stoichiometric $\mathrm{FeTe}$ raises the question of how pairing develops in this tetragonal 11-type chalcogenide once interstitial Fe is removed. We construct an experimentally constrained five-orbital tight-binding model from first-principles calculations and treat electronic correlations and pairing within the fluctuation-exchange approximation. The linearized Eliashberg equation yields competing extended-$s$- and $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave spin-singlet pairing instabilities. Near stoichiometric filling, spin fluctuations near $(π,0)$ and $(0,π)$ in the unfolded one-Fe Brillouin zone connect the $Γ/M$ hole pockets with the $X/Y$ electron pockets and favor an extended-$s$ gap that changes sign between the hole and electron sheets. Upon electron doping, depletion of the hole pockets shifts the dominant scattering toward the $X$--$Y$ channel near $(π,π)$, making the $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave state the leading instability, with nodal lines that avoid most of the Fermi surface. The relative strengths of the two pairing channels vary with filling and interaction strength as the dominant spin-fluctuation channel changes. Under matched interaction strength, temperature, and filling, the extended-$s$ eigenvalue is larger in $\mathrm{FeTe}$ than in $\mathrm{FeSe}$ throughout the range considered, while the $d_{x^2-y^2}$-wave eigenvalue is also generally larger, particularly under electron doping. These results give concrete gap structures against which spectroscopic measurements of stoichiometric $\mathrm{FeTe}$ can be compared.

Superconductivity, pseudogap and marginal Fermi liquid in a relative-momentum-local theory

Cuprate superconductors host \(d\)-wave superconductivity (SC), a pseudogap (PG) with Fermi arcs and a strange metal (SM) with incoherent excitations and temperature-linear resistivity. These regimes emerge from the same doped Mott system but are usually described separately. Here a relative-momentum-local (RML) theory is constructed, with the exact spin-singlet Cooper representation of antiferromagnetic superexchange in the \(t\)-\(J\) model serving as a common thread. Pair correlations organize the low-energy behaviour of this Cooper channel into phase-coherent static SC, phase-incoherent quasi-static PG and phase-incoherent dynamic SM. A static RML prescription yields an exactly solvable PG Hamiltonian with nodal electron poles, antinodal gaps, resolution-broadened Fermi arcs and gapless charge-\(2e\) Cooper surfaces. A Cooper-surface Lifshitz transition generates logarithmic enhancements in the specific-heat coefficient and charge response without a spin singularity. The particle-particle continuum at finite centre-of-mass momentum produces Ohmic damping, while a dynamic RML prescription yields a one-loop self-energy with marginal-Fermi-liquid scaling. Spectral-weight transfer in the physical pair spectrum diagnoses the PG--SM crossover, whereas nonzero phase stiffness and global phase coherence identify SC. The RML theory relates single-particle, pair-sensitive and thermodynamic probes to three infrared organizations of one Cooper channel. A decisive experimental signature would be zero-energy Cooper-surface ridges in two-electron angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (2e-ARPES).

Hall Coefficient Sign Reversal Driven by Orbital-Selective Oxygen-Vacancy Scattering in Nickelate Films

Hall measurements in superconducting bilayer nickelate films show sign reversals that cannot be explained by rigid-band electron doping alone. We combine a DFT+CDMFT-derived correlated multi-orbital quasiparticle model with a $T$-matrix treatment of oxygen-vacancy scattering in a semiclassical Boltzmann transport framework. We find that multiband compensation is insufficient by itself: in-plane vacancies selectively suppress the transport channel dominated by the $d_{x^2-y^2}$ orbital and drive $R_H$ through zero, whereas inner-apical vacancies make $R_H$ more negative. These results identify pocket-resolved and orbital-selective oxygen-vacancy scattering as the microscopic origin of the Hall coefficient sign reversal and provide a framework for oxygen-stoichiometry-dependent transport in nickelate films.

Atomically resolved intrinsic superconducting gap in (La,Pr)3Ni2O7 films

Ruddlesden-Popper bilayer nickelates provide an emerging platform for studying high-temperature superconductivity, yet the superconducting pairing symmetry remains under debate. Here, we use atomic-resolution scanning tunnelling microscopy and spectroscopy to investigate superconducting 1.5-unit-cell (La,Pr)3Ni2O7 films grown on SrLaAlO4. A cryogenic ultrahigh-vacuum (UHV) sample transfer preserves an ordered sqrt(2) * sqrt(2) surface and yields reproducible U-shaped spectra with two gap scales of ~14 and ~20 meV and extended flat zero-conductance bottoms. By contrast, samples exposed for a longer time in UHV without cooling during transfer show V-shaped spectra despite retaining the surface reconstruction and a transport superconducting transition onset above 40 K. Wide-energy-range spectra indicate that oxygen loss can mix density-wave-related spectral weight. Our measurements provide an atomic-scale observation of the intrinsic nodeless superconducting gap in bilayer nickelate ultrathin films.

Correlated electronic structures and unconventional superconductivity in bilayer nickelate heterostructures

The recent discovery of ambient-pressure superconductivity in thin-film bilayer nickelates opens new possibilities for investigating electronic structures in this new class of high-transition temperature $T_C$ superconductors. Here, we construct a realistic multi-orbital Hubbard model for the thin-film system, by integrating ab initio calculations with scanning transmission electron microscopy (STEM) measurements, which reveal a higher-symmetry lattice. The interaction parameters are calculated with the constrained random phase approximation (cRPA). Density functional theory (DFT) plus cluster dynamical mean-field theory (CDMFT) calculations, with cRPA calculated on-site Coulomb repulsive $U$ and experimentally measured electron filling $n$, quantitatively reproduces Fermi surfaces from angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) experiments. The distinct Fermi surface topology from simple DFT+$U$ results features the indispensable role of correlation effects. Based upon the correlated electronic structures, A modified random-phase-approximation (RPA) approach yields a pronounced $s^{\pm}$-wave pairing instability, due to the strong spin fluctuations originated from Fermi surface nesting between bands with predominantly $d_{z^{2}}$ characters. Our findings highlight the quantitative effectiveness of the DFT+cRPA+CDMFT approach that precisely determines correlated electronic structure parameters without fine-tuning. The revealed intermediate correlation effect may explain the same order-of-magnitude onset $T_C$ observed both in pressured bulk and strained thin film bilayer nickelates.

Synthetic multi-dimensional Aharonov-Bohm cages in Fock state lattices

Fock-state lattices (FSLs), composed of photon number states with infinite Hilbert space, have emerged as a promising platform for simulating high-dimensional physics due to their potential to extend into arbitrarily high dimensions. Here, we demonstrate the construction of multi-dimensional FSLs using superconducting quantum circuits. By controlling artificial gauge fields within their internal structures, we investigate flux-induced extreme localization dynamics, such as Aharonov-Bohm caging, extending from 2D to 3D. We also explore the coherent interference of quantum superposition states, achieving extreme localization within specific subspaces assisted by quantum entanglement. Our findings pave the way for manipulating the behavior of a broad class of quantum states in higher-dimensional systems.

$Z_{2}$ order fractionalization, topological phase transition, and odd frequency pairing in an exactly solvable spin-charge ladder

Motivated by the order fractionalization in Kitaev-Kondo model, we propose an exactly solvable spin-charge ladder model to study the order fractionalization with discrete symmetry. The spin-charge ladder is composed of a spin chain and a superconducting wire coupled via an Ising-type interaction, and we obtain the exact solution in the flat band limit. The exact solution reveals the $Z_{2}$ order fractionalization with dual symmetry breaking and intertwined order parameters. We investigate the topological phase transition of the spin-charge ladder via the spectral chiral index, and identify the correlated topological superconductor (TSC*) phase with gapped $Z_{2}$ Kondo flux excitations. We demonstrate Majorana spinons generated odd frequency pairing in the superconducting wire. We also discuss the order fractionalization in the perspective of $Z_{2}$ lattice gauge theory.

Lacing topological orders in two dimensions: exactly solvable models for Kitaev's sixteen-fold way

A family of two-dimensional (2D) spin-1/2 models have been constructed to realize Kitaev's sixteen-fold way of anyon theories. Defining a one-dimensional (1D) path through all the lattice sites, and performing the Jordan-Wigner transformation with the help of the 1D path, we find that such a spin-1/2 model is equivalent to a model with $ν$ species of Majorana fermions coupled to a static $\mathbb{Z}_2$ gauge field. Here each specie of Majorana fermions gives rise to an energy band that carries a Chern number $\mathcal{C}=1$, yielding a total Chern number $\mathcal{C}=ν$. It has been shown that the ground states are three (four)-fold topologically degenerate on a torus, when $ν$ is an odd (even) number. These exactly solvable models can be achieved by quantum simulations.

Majorana lattice gauge theory: symmetry breaking, topological order and intertwined orders all in one

The Majorana lattice gauge theory purely composed of Majorana fermions on square lattice is studied throughly. The ground state is obtained exactly and exhibits the coexistence of symmetry breaking and topological order. The $Z_2$ symmetry breaking of matter fields leads to the intertwined antiferromagnetic spin order and $η$-pairing order. The topological order is reflected in the $Z_2$ quantum spin liquid ground state of gauge fields. The Majorana lattice gauge theory, alternatively can be viewed as interacting Majorana fermion model, is possibly realized on a Majorana-zero-mode lattice.

Spin-charge separation and unconventional superconductivity in \textit{t}-\textit{J} model on honeycomb lattice

The physical nature of doped Mott-insulator has been intensively studied for more than three decades. It is well known that the single band Hubbard model or $t$-$J$ model on the bipartite lattice is the simplest model to describe a doped Mott insulator. Unfortunately, the key mechanism of superconductivity in these toy models is still under debate. In this paper, we propose a new mechanism for the $d+id$-wave superconductivity (SC) that occurs in the small-doping region of the honeycomb lattice $t$-$J$ model based on the Grassmann tensor product state numerical simulation and spin-charge separation formulation. Moreover, in the presence of anti-ferromagnetic order, a continuum effective field theory for holons is developed near half-filling. It reveals the competition between repulsive and attractive holon interactions induced by spinon fluctuations and gauge fluctuations, respectively. At a large value of $t/J$, the repulsive interaction dominates, leading to the non-Fermi liquid like behavior; while in a moderate range of $t/J$, the attractive interaction dominates, leading to the SC order. Possible experimental detection of spin-charge separation phenomena is also discussed.

Collective effects in an incompressible electronic liquid

Starting from the Landau's kinetic equation, we show that an electronic liquid in $d=2,3$ dimensions depicted by a Landau type effective theory will become incompressible on condition that the Landau parameters satisfy either (i) $1+F_{1}^{s}/d=0$ or (ii) $F_{0}^{s}\to{}+\infty$. The condition (i) is the Pomeranchuk instability in the current channel and suggests a quantum spin liquid (QSL) state with a spinon Fermi surface; while the condition (ii) means that the strong repulsion in the charge channel and leads to a conventional charge and thermal insulator. In the collisionless regime ($ωτ\gg{}1$) and the hydrodynamic regime ($ωτ\ll{}1$), the zero and first sound modes have been studied and classified by symmetries, including the longitudinal and transverse modes in $d=2,3$ and the higher angular momentum modes in $d=3$. The sufficient (and/or necessary) conditions of these collective modes have been revealed. It has been demonstrated that some of these collective modes will behave in quite different manners under two incompressibility conditions (i) or (ii). Possible nematic QSL states and a hierarchy structure for gapless QSL states have been proposed in $d=3$.

Hidden $SU(2)$ Symmetries, the Symmetry Hierarchy and the Emergent Eight-Fold Way in Spin-1 Quantum Magnets

The largest allowed symmetry in a spin-1 quantum system is an $SU(3)$ symmetry rather than the $SO(3)$ spin rotation. In this work, we reveal some $SU(2)$ symmetries as subgroups of $SU(3)$ that, to the best of our knowledge, have not previously been recognized. Then, we construct $SU(2)$ symmetric Hamiltonians and explore the ground-state phase diagram in accordance with the $SU(3)\supset SU(2)\times U(1)$ symmetry hierarchy. It is natural to treat the eight generators of the $SU(3)$ symmetry on an equal footing; this approach is called the eight-fold way. We find that the spin spectral functions and spin quadrupole spectral functions share the same structure, provided that the elementary excitations are flavor waves at low energies, which serves as a clue to the eight-fold way. An emergent $S=1/2$ quantum spin liquid is proposed to coexist with gapful spin nematic order in one of the ground states. In analogy to quantum chromodynamics, we find the gap relation for hydrodynamic modes in quantum spin-orbital liquid states, which is nothing but the Gell-Mann-Okubo formula.

Exact Solution to Haldane-BCS-Hubbard Model Along the Symmetric Lines: Interaction Induced Topological Phase Transition

We propose a Haldane-BCS-Hubbard model on a honeycomb lattice, which is composed of two copies of the Haldane model of the quantum anomalous Hall effect, an equal-spin pairing term and an onsite Hubbard interaction term. For any interaction strength, this model is exactly solvable along the symmetric line where the hopping and pairing amplitudes are equal to each other. The ground state of the Haldane-BCS-Hubbard model is a topological superconducting state at weak interaction with two chiral Majorana edge states. A strong interaction drives the system across a topological quantum phase transition to a topologically trivial superconductor. A $\mathbb{Z}_{2}$ symmetry of the Hamiltonian, which is a composition of the bond-centered inversion and a gauge transformation, is spontaneously broken by the interaction, resulting a finite antiferromagnetic order in the $y$-direction.

Pristine Mott Insulator from an Exactly Solvable Spin-1/2 Kitaev Model

We propose an exactly solvable quantum spin-1/2 model with time reversal invariance on a two dimensional brick-wall lattice, where each unit cell consists of three sites. We find that the ground states are algebraic quantum spin liquid states. The spinon excitations are gapless and the energy dispersion is linear around two Dirac points. The ground states are of three-fold topological degeneracy on a torus. Breaking the time reversal symmetry opens a bulk energy gap and the $Z_2$ vortices obey non-Abelian statistics.

Exact Solution to a Class of Generalized Kitaev Spin-$1/2$ Models in Arbitrary Dimensions

We construct a class of exactly solvable generalized Kitaev spin-$1/2$ models in arbitrary dimensions, which is beyond the category of quantum compass models. The Jordan-Wigner transformation is employed to prove the exact solvability. An exactly solvable quantum spin-$1/2$ models can be mapped to a gas of free Majorana fermions coupled to static $Z_2$ gauge fields. We classify these exactly solvable models according to their parent models. Any model belonging to this class can be generated by one of the parent models. For illustration, a two dimensional ($2D$) tetragon-octagon model and a three dimensional ($3D$) $xy$ bond model are studied.

Majorana zero modes and long range edge correlation in interacting Kitaev chains: analytic solutions and density-matrix-renormalization-group study

We study Kitaev model in one-dimension with open boundary condition by using exact analytic methods for non-interacting system at zero chemical potential as well as in the symmetric case of Δ = t, and by using density-matrix-renormalizationgroup method for interacting system with nearest neighbor repulsion interaction. We suggest and examine an edge correlation function of Majorana fermions to characterize the long range order in the topological superconducting states and study the phase diagram of the interating Kitaev chain.

Exact solution to an interacting dimerized Kitaev model at symmetric point

We study the interacting dimerized Kitaev chain at the symmetry point $Δ=t$ and the chemical potential $μ=0$ under open boundary conditions, which can be exactly solved by applying two Jordan-Wigner transformations and a spin rotation. By using exact analytic methods, we calculate two edge correlation functions of Majorana fermions and demonstrate that they can be used to distinguish different topological phases and characterize the topological phase transitions of the interacting system. According to the thermodynamic limit values of these two edge correlation functions, we give the phase diagram of the interacting system which includes three different topological phases: the trivial, the topological superconductor and the Su-Schrieffer-Heeger-like topological phase and we further distinguish the trivial phase by obtaining the local density distribution numerically.

Exact Solution to Interacting Kitaev Chain at Symmetric Point

Kitaev chain model with nearest neighbor interaction U is solved exactly at the symmetry point $Δ=t$ and chemical potential $μ=0$ in open boundary condition. By applying two Jordan-Wigner transformations and a spin-rotation, such a symmetric interacting model is mapped to a non-interacting fermion model, which can be diagonalized exactly. The solutions include topologically non-trivial phase at $|U| t$. The two phases are related by dualities. Quantum phase transitions in the model are studied with the help of the exact solution.
