Lost in Pronunciation: Detecting Chinese Offensive Language Disguised by Phonetic Cloaking Replacement

Phonetic Cloaking Replacement (PCR), defined as the deliberate use of homophonic or near-homophonic variants to hide toxic intent, has become a major obstacle to Chinese content moderation. While this problem is well-recognized, existing evaluations predominantly rely on rule-based, synthetic perturbations that ignore the creativity of real users. We organize PCR into a four-way surface-form taxonomy and compile \ours, a dataset of 500 naturally occurring, phonetically cloaked offensive posts gathered from the RedNote platform. Benchmarking state-of-the-art LLMs on this dataset exposes a serious weakness: the best model reaches only an F1-score of 0.672, and zero-shot chain-of-thought prompting pushes performance even lower. Guided by error analysis, we revisit a Pinyin-based prompting strategy that earlier studies judged ineffective and show that it recovers much of the lost accuracy. This study offers the first comprehensive taxonomy of Chinese PCR, a realistic benchmark that reveals current detectors' limits, and a lightweight mitigation technique that advances research on robust toxicity detection.

CAT: Contrastive Adversarial Training for Evaluating the Robustness of Protective Perturbations in Latent Diffusion Models

Latent diffusion models have recently demonstrated superior capabilities in many downstream image synthesis tasks. However, customization of latent diffusion models using unauthorized data can severely compromise the privacy and intellectual property rights of data owners. Adversarial examples as protective perturbations have been developed to defend against unauthorized data usage by introducing imperceptible noise to customization samples, preventing diffusion models from effectively learning them. In this paper, we first reveal that the primary reason adversarial examples are effective as protective perturbations in latent diffusion models is the distortion of their latent representations, as demonstrated through qualitative and quantitative experiments. We then propose the Contrastive Adversarial Training (CAT) utilizing lightweight adapters as an adaptive attack against these protection methods, highlighting their lack of robustness. Extensive experiments demonstrate that our CAT method significantly reduces the effectiveness of protective perturbations in customization, urging the community to reconsider and improve the robustness of existing protective perturbations. Protective Perturbations against Unauthorized Data Usage in Diffusion-based Image Generation

Diffusion-based text-to-image models have shown immense potential for various image-related tasks. However, despite their prominence and popularity, customizing these models using unauthorized data also brings serious privacy and intellectual property issues. Existing methods introduce protective perturbations based on adversarial attacks, which are applied to the customization samples. In this systematization of knowledge, we present a comprehensive survey of protective perturbation methods designed to prevent unauthorized data usage in diffusion-based image generation. We establish the threat model and categorize the downstream tasks relevant to these methods, providing a detailed analysis of their designs. We also propose a completed evaluation framework for these perturbation techniques, aiming to advance research in this field.

Guardians of Discourse: Evaluating LLMs on Multilingual Offensive Language Detection

Identifying offensive language is essential for maintaining safety and sustainability in the social media era. Though large language models (LLMs) have demonstrated encouraging potential in social media analytics, they lack thorough evaluation when in offensive language detection, particularly in multilingual environments. We for the first time evaluate multilingual offensive language detection of LLMs in three languages: English, Spanish, and German with three LLMs, GPT-3.5, Flan-T5, and Mistral, in both monolingual and multilingual settings. We further examine the impact of different prompt languages and augmented translation data for the task in non-English contexts. Furthermore, we discuss the impact of the inherent bias in LLMs and the datasets in the mispredictions related to sensitive topics.

A Brief Discussion on the Philosophical Principles and Development Directions of Data Circulation

The data circulation is a complex scenario involving a large number of participants and different types of requirements, which not only has to comply with the laws and regulations, but also faces multiple challenges in technical and business areas. In order to systematically and comprehensively address these issues, it is essential to have a comprehensive and profound understanding of 'data circulation'. The traditional analysis method tends to proceed based on the traditional circulation model of commodities, that is, tangible objects, which has some defects and shortcomings, and tends to be a formalized approach, which is faced numerous challenges in practice. This paper analyzes the circulation of data with a philosophical approach, obtains the new explication of data and executing entity, and provides a new definition of the concepts of data utilization and data key stakeholders (objects). At the same time, it puts forward the idea of ``data alienation'', and constructs a new interpretive framework of ``data circulation''. Based on the framework of this interpretation, it is clearly proposed that ``data alienation'' is the core of ``data circulation'', benefit distribution is the driving force, and legal compliance is the foundation, and further discussed the three modes of ``data circulation''. It further discusses the three modes of ``data circulation''. It is pointed out that ``data circulation'' is different from traditional ``commodity circulation''. To achieve ``data circulation'',a comprehensive information infrastructure needs to be established. from a theoretical point of view, it lays a solid foundation for the development of ``data circulation''.

Non-Martingale Fixed-Point Processes for Iterated Monodromy Groups

We construct families of rational functions $f \colon \bP^1_k \to \bP^1_k$ of degree $d \geq 2$ over a perfect field $k$ whose associated fixed-point processes fail to be martingales. Conversely, for any normal variety $X \subset \bP^N_{\overline{k}}$ and a finite, generically \'etale morphism $f \colon X \to X$, we establish geometric conditions on the critical orbits of $f$ that guarantee the fixed-point process is a martingale. Our constructions answer a question of Bridy, Jones, Kelsey, and Lodge \cite{iterated} regarding the existence of non-martingale behaviour in arboreal Galois representations, and extend their martingale criteria to higher-dimensional dynamical systems. In particular, we exhibit infinitely many postcritically finite maps with non-martingale fixed-point processes and characterize the group-theoretic obstructions to the martingale property in the genus-zero case. Furthermore, we prove that despite the failure of the martingale property, the fixed-point proportion still vanishes with a quantifiable convergence rate.

NetReduce: RDMA-Compatible In-Network Reduction for Distributed DNN Training Acceleration

We present NetReduce, a novel RDMA-compatible in-network reduction architecture to accelerate distributed DNN training. Compared to existing designs, NetReduce maintains a reliable connection between end-hosts in the Ethernet and does not terminate the connection in the network. The advantage of doing so is that we can fully reuse the designs of congestion control and reliability in RoCE. In the meanwhile, we do not need to implement a high-cost network protocol processing stack in the switch, as IB does. The prototype implemented by using FPGA is an out-of-box solution without modifying commodity devices such as NICs or switches. For the coordination between the end-host and the switch, NetReduce customizes the transport protocol only on the first packet in a data message to comply with RoCE v2. The special status monitoring module is designed to reuse the reliability mechanism of RoCE v2 for dealing with packet loss. A message-level credit-based flow control algorithm is also proposed to fully utilize bandwidth and avoid buffer overflow. We study the effects of intra bandwidth on the training performance in multi-machines multi-GPUs scenario and give sufficient conditions for hierarchical NetReduce to outperform other algorithms. We also extend the design from rack-level aggregation to more general spine-leaf topology in the data center. NetReduce accelerates the training up to 1.7x and 1.5x for CNN-based CV and transformer-based NLP tasks, respectively. Simulations on large-scale systems indicate the superior scalability of NetReduce to the state-of-the-art ring all-reduce.
