Admissible Fourier Lengths, KAM Reducibility, and Spectral Applications

We develop a perturbative KAM reducibility theory for one-frequency $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{R})$ cocycles based on an admissible Fourier length $\ell$. The regularity relevant to the iteration is measured by positive adapted Fourier width rather than ordinary smoothness in the Euclidean length $|n|$. The same length governs Fourier decay, truncation and resonance scales, and the arithmetic condition controlling the small divisors. This framework contains the classical analytic and Gevrey settings, while non-monotone choices of $\ell$ allow classical nowhere differentiable Weierstrass-type perturbations and continuous perturbations outside every positive H\"older class. As spectral applications, we obtain purely absolutely continuous spectrum for every phase and $1/2$-H\"older continuity of the integrated density of states for the associated quasiperiodic Schr\"odinger operators. The Aubry dual has pure point spectrum for Lebesgue almost every dual phase, with eigenfunctions exponentially localized in the metric induced by $\ell$. We also construct nowhere differentiable quasiperiodic potentials with purely absolutely continuous Cantor spectrum.

Transfer Operators, Canonical Center Dynamics, and Spectral Applications for Long-Range Operators

We introduce an operator-theoretic framework for long-range operators over general dynamical systems with analytic hopping and small potential. By establishing a partially hyperbolic splitting on the fibered solution bundle, we define the Canonical Center Bundle (CCB) as the center subbundle of this splitting, which is shown to be globally trivial. The center bundle admits a representation via Riesz spectral projections of the transfer operator. Furthermore, we show that, in the local regime, the center bundle arising in this framework essentially coincides, in the sense of gap convergence, with the Intrinsic Center Bundles (ICB) obtained from finite-range approximations in \cite{GJ}. The partially hyperbolic structure thereby reduces the spectral problem to the center bundle, leading to a Johnson-type characterization of the spectrum in terms of the associated center cocycle. We then apply this framework to quasi-periodic Schr\"odinger operators with analytic hopping, large analytic potentials and Diophantine frequency. In this setting, the center cocycle is analytic and satisfies a Center Thouless formula. As consequences, we establish the absolute continuity of the integrated density of states (IDS), resolving a problem of Eliasson; prove quantitative H\"older continuity of the IDS, partially answering a question of You; and obtain Anderson localization for the original Schr\"odinger operators.

Sharp Spectral Gaps, Arithmetic Localization, and Reducibility via Resonance Analys

This paper establishes several sharp spectral results for analytic quasiperiodic Schrodinger operators. Key contributions include: (1) exact exponential decay rates for spectral gaps of the almost Mathieu operator, addressing a question raised by Goldstein; (2) sharp arithmetic Anderson localization for a class of quasiperiodic operators on higher-dimensional lattices, which in particular resolves and generalizes Jitomirskaya's phase transition conjecture; and (3) stratified growth patterns for extended eigenfunctions revealing universal partial hierarchical structures for subcritical quasiperiodic Schrodinger operators. The proofs are based on novel frameworks-structured quantitative almost reducibility and sharp quantitative duality-to overcome the longstanding challenge of taming infinitely many rotation-number resonances, which enables us to obtain optimal arithmetic reducibility results for analytic SL(2,R)-cocycles, thereby solving another Jitomirskaya's conjecture. These methods enable a first comprehensive treatment of resonance-driven dynamical asymptotics.

Discontinuity of Lyapunov exponent in spaces of quasiperiodic cocycles: Smoothness vs Arithmetic

We construct examples of discontinuity of Lyapunov exponent in the spaces of quasiperiodic $\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb R)$-cocycles for fixed irrational frequencies. Especially, we prove that the Gevrey space $G^2$ is the transition space of continuity for all strong Diophantine frequencies. We also construct examples of discontinuity for other frequencies in less smooth spaces, which show that the more difficult it is to approximate the frequency with rational numbers, the more likely it is to exhibit discontinuity in smoother spaces.

Exact local distribution of the absolutely continuous spectral measure

It is well-established that the spectral measure for one-frequency Schrödinger operators with Diophantine frequencies exhibits optimal $1/2$-Hölder continuity within the absolutely continuous spectrum. This study extends these findings by precisely characterizing the local distribution of the spectral measure for dense small potentials, including a notable result for any subcritical almost Mathieu operators. Additionally, we investigate the stratified Hölder continuity of the spectral measure at subcritical energies.

Spectrum of Hatano-Nelson model with strictly ergodic potentials

We provide a precise formula for the spectrum of the Hatano-Nelson model with strictly ergodic potentials in terms of its Lyapunov exponent. As applications, one clearly observes the real-complex spectrum transition. Moreover, if the Lyapunov exponent is continuous, the spectrum of the Hatano-Nelson model in $\ell^{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ can be approximated by the spectrum of its finite-interval truncation with periodic boundary conditions. Both of these results are strikingly different from the Hatano-Nelson model with random potentials \cite{Dav01A, Dav01, Dav02}.

Multiplicative Jensen's formula and quantitative global theory of one-frequency Schrödinger operators

We introduce the concept of dual Lyapunov exponents, leading to a multiplicative version of the classical Jensen's formula for one-frequency analytic Schrödinger cocycles. This formula, in particular, gives a new proof and a quantitative version of the fundamentals of Avila's global theory \cite{avila}, fully explaining the behavior of complexified Lyapunov exponent through the dynamics of the dual cocycle. In particular, concepts of (sub/super) critical regimes and acceleration are all explained (in a quantitative way) through the duality approach. This leads to a number of powerful spectral and physics applications

Kotani theory, Puig's argument, and stability of The Ten Martini Problem

We solve the ten martini problem (Cantor spectrum with no condition on irrational frequencies, previously only established for the almost Mathieu) for a large class of one-frequency quasiperiodic operators, including nonperturbative analytic neighborhoods of several popular explicit families. The proof is based on the structural analysis of dual cocycles as introduced in [35]. As a part of the proof, we develop several general ingredients of independent interest: Kotani theory, for a class of finite-range operators over general minimal underlying dynamics, making the first step towards and providing a partial solution of the Kotani-Simon problem, simplicity of point spectrum for the same class, and the all-frequency version of Puig's argument.

Non-Self-Adjoint Quasi-periodic Operators with complex spectrum

We give a precise and complete description on the spectrum for a class of non-self-adjoint quasi-periodic operators acting on $\ell^2(\mathbb{Z}^d)$ which contains the Sarnak's model as a special case. As a consequence, one can see various interesting spectral phenomena including $\mathscr{P}\mathscr{T}$ symmetric breaking, the non-simply-connected two-dimensional spectrum in this class of operators. Particularly, we provide new examples of non-self-adjoint operator in $\mathscr{l}^{2}(\mathbb{Z})$ whose spectra (actually a two-dimensional subset of $\mathbb{C}$) can not be approximated by the spectra of its finite-interval truncations.

Absolute continuity of the integrated density of states in the localized regime

We establish the absolute continuity of the integrated density of states (IDS) for quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators with a large trigonometric potential and Diophantine frequency. This partially solves Eliasson's open problem in 2002. Furthermore, this result can be extended to a class of quasi-periodic long-range operators on $\ell^2(\Z^d)$. Our proof is based on stratified quantitative almost reducibility results of dual cocycles. Specifically, we prove that a generic analytic one-parameter family of cocycles, sufficiently close to constant coefficients, is reducible except for a zero Hausdorff dimension set of parameters. This result affirms Eliasson's conjecture in 2017.

Winding number, density of states and acceleration

Winding number and density of states are two fundamental physical quantities for non-self-adjoint quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators, which reflect the asymptotic distribution of zeros of the characteristic determinants of the truncated operators under Dirichlet boundary condition, with respect to complexified phase and the energy respectively. We will prove that the winding number is in fact Avila's acceleration and it is also closely related to the density of states by a generalized Thouless formula for non-self-adjoint Schrödinger operators and Avila's global theory.

Stability of Spectral Types of Quasi-Periodic Schrödinger Operators With Respect to Perturbations by Decaying Potentials

We consider perturbations of quasi-periodic Schrödinger operators on the integer lattice with analytic sampling functions by decaying potentials and seek decay conditions under which various spectral properties are preserved. In the (almost) reducibility regime we prove that for perturbations with finite first moment, the essential spectrum remains purely absolutely continuous and the newly created discrete spectrum must be finite in each gap of the unperturbed spectrum. We also prove that for fixed phase, Anderson localization occurring for almost all frequencies in the regime of positive Lyapunov exponents is preserved under exponentially decaying perturbations.

Isospectrum of non-self-adjoint almost-periodic Schrodinger operators

For non-self-adjoint almost-periodic Schrödinger operators, a criterion is given to guarantee that they have both the same spectrum and same Lyapunov exponents with the discrete free Laplacian. As a byproduct, we show that the Moser-Pöschel argument for opening gaps may not be valid for non-self-adjoint operators.

Exact mobility edges for 1D quasiperiodic models

Mobility edges (ME), i.e. critical energies which separate absolutely continuous spectrum and purely point spectrum, is an important issue in quantum physics. So far there are two experimentally feasible 1D quasiperiodic models that have been discovered to have exact mobility edge. However, all the theoretical studies have remained at the numerical level. In this paper, we rigorously prove the existence and give the precise location of the MEs for these models.

Arithmetic version of anderson localization for quasiperiodic Schrödinger operators with even cosine type potentials

We propose a new method to prove Anderson localization for quasiperiodic Schrödinger operators and apply it to the quasiperiodic model considered by Sinai and Fröhlich-Spencer-Wittwer. More concretely, we prove Anderson localization for even $C^2$ cosine type quasiperiodic Schrödinger operators with large coupling constants, Diophantine frequencies and Diophantine phases.
